I won't port LogBlock myself to mcAPI. Source code is available, so it shouldn't be to difficult for someone else to do it, also I'm still here. so I can answer questions. If there is more than one willing, that's up to you to handle that.

The reasons I take this step, are the usual: I quit playing Minecraft about 5 months ago and lastly I was struggling to keep up with updates. The developement of Guardian made slow progress, so I fear it won't be ready to fully replace LB in time.

    Description:

LogBlock logs block changes into a MySQL database. Block changes can be placed or destroyed block, explosions, burned blocks, sign text changes, chest access, leaves decay etc.
It can be used as griefer identification tool, to find out who build a particular building, or even roll back changes by certain players. Other purposes can be e.g: Undoing of forest fires
All additional features are optional, to keep the database as short as possible. All database actions run in their own threads to avoid server lags.
The use of permissions plugin (or any clone) is possible, but not necessary.
Uses Spout for chest logging (but it's fully optional, and there is no need for the client mod at all).

    Features:
    • Logging for block placing, block braking, fire, explosions, leaves decay, signtexts, lava flow and chest content
    • Very mighty commands system, not only allowing to rollback and redo, but also to tp to blockchanges, delete log ingame etc. Full list of commands.
    • Many parameters for lookup/rollback/redo/tp/clearlog commands: Block changes of one ore more player, in a specific area, in a world edit selection, specific block types only, block changes older or newer that a specific date, destroyed/created block only, in a different world and combinations of all these parameters. Full list of parameters.
    • Rebuilding map after importing a backup (/lb redo)
    • Last parameter to use the parameters of the last command
    • Quick ingame lookup of block history a wood pickaxe or a bedrock block.
    • All commands accessible from console (exept tools :D)
    • Custom queries for tools.
    • Different tool modes (lookup, rollback, redo, writelogfile and clearlog)
    • Saves block data like wool color, log type, torch adjustment, etc
    • Multiworld and multiserver support (some servers sharing the same database)
    • BigBrother log import
    • Loggable super pickaxe plugin (not to confuse with WorldEdit's super pickaxe)
    • API
    • Webstats
    Why to use LogBlock:

Example commands: (thanks to tha d0ctor, read more about commands here)

/lb rollback player fire since 1d3h – rolls back fire 1 day 3 hours
/lb rollback player fire since 1d3h area 15 – rolls back fire 1 day 3 hours within a radius of 15 blocks

    /lb rollback player thad0ctor since 1h - rolls back thad0ctor 1 hour
/lb rollback player thad0ctor since 1d area 5 – rolls back thad0ctor actions for the last day within 5 blocks
/lb rollback area 10 since 1h30m - rolls back all modifications within 10 blocks since the list 1 hours and 30 mins
/lb rollback area 10 before 06.11.2011 - roll back all changes in an area of 1o before June 11th, 2011
/lb rollback player thad0ctor since 05:36:00 - roll back all changes of thad0ctor since 05:36 (server time)

    How to post error messages:

I won't aswer questions to general MySQL setup/installation/what is MySQL (there are lots of good tutorials out there, use google)
Please read the installation guide before asking a question about installation problems.
Please read the FAQ before posting a error report. It may be solved there.
In case of rollback or lookup problems: Type /lb savequeue and try again (when it's fixed then, it was a consumer problem, see FAQ)
When you post error messages, it's important to paste the whole stack trace!

As the connection times out there are 2 possibillities: Either you connection config is wrong, or the MySql server is stuck.
Is your mysql user really called "username"?

I just installed it, then set my properties like that :

    Code:
    logging:
        logBlockCreations: true
        logBlockDestroyings: true
        logLeavesDecay: false
        logFire: false
        logChestAccess: true
        logExplosions: true
        logSignTexts: true
        logKills: false
        logKillsLevel: PLAYERS
    consumer:
        delay: 6
        useBukkitScheduler: true
    lookup:
        defaultDist: 20
        defaultTime: 15 minutes
        toolblockID: 7
        toolID: 270
    clearlog:
        dumpDeletedLog: false
        keepLogDays: -1
    rollback:
        replaceAnyway:
        - 8
        - 9
        - 10
        - 11
        - 51
        dontRollback:
        - 10
        - 11
        - 46
        - 51
    version: '0.14'

    But when do that :

    -Create a sign with text
-put a TNT block close to it
    -make it explode
-rollback TNT ( /lb rollback playerarea TNT 20)

My sign is rolling back without the text on it :( .

other questions : My Databases are in the default format. Is it interesting to change it to a better format (since it was the case for BigBrother).

    Last one : How to specify the time in a rollback ? I don't understand <time> <minutes:hours:days>

    Thanks a lot.

Just updated from an old version to 1.4, configured new config file before uploading the payload to server. Settings are all configured correctly, but LogBlock can't make the connection to the same database its been using for weeks now.

    Config
    Code:
    mysql:
        port: 3306
        host: localhost
        password: fakepassword
        user: mcuser
        database: databasename

The username, database name, and password are changed on here for obvious reasons, but their values are accurate as I've used the same name, password, and database name to properly make a connection to the database and parse it, along with configuring other plugins that use MySQL without issue.

The config looks good so far. You may validate the whole file via an online yaml parser http://yaml-online-parser.appspot.com/. If that's the whole error log, setting keepLogDays to -1 could solve the issue.

Config file looks good. That's the only error I recieve on my startup. If I set keepLogDays to -1, will that not allow for creation of a logfile with (practically) infinite entries? My server is quite active, and I do have a disk quota with my host, so I need to be able to have the ability to purge entries beyond a certain age.

well for 3 days logging logblock takes up about 80-90 meg on mysaim databse......... bigbrother takes up around 1.7 gig for same thing. and thats with everything i need turned on in both.

anyhow looking up values in an 88meg database is always going to be faster then making the same lookups in a 1.7gig database even if people here flame me and says it doesnt if its in ram blah blah.... reality is it does.

no idea how there can be such night/day

I would say, your MySQL user has no rights to write files in the minecraft folder. You can either fix that, or set dumpDeletedLog to false, and reenable keepLogDays. Should work.
Well, I had a look at the source code and found it bad structured and unoptimized, especially the listeners.
Wow, wouldn't have thougt that, but nice to know :D

  20. Offline

    Mikor

The user does have rights to write to the file, as it is the same account used for numerous other MySQL enabled plugins, plus my verifying so through a permissions lookup for the user. Please, if you can, give things a once-over again - i'll give you as much assistance as I can. Setting keepLogDays to -1 does the trick for now, but obviously that wont work as a long term solution.

Do I have to use an SQL database? As I'm a bit confused. :L

Hm, there are sometimes problems. Will add an alternative later. But as I said you can reenable keepLogDays and disable dumbDeletedLog (which causes the error in last instance).
    You have to.

  23. Any tutorials on SQl databases anywhere? I really need to learn about them.

    FYI:
with mysql client i can connect to the database.. the accessdata to the database (username, pw, host, port) are correct and the Database is not installed at localhost.

i´ve tried to connect to another database.. same issue.

    config file is regenerated.

    System:

    Linux version 2.6.32-5-vserver-amd64 (Debian 2.6.32-30)
    ([email protected]) (gcc version 4.3.5 (Debian 4.3.5-4) ) #1 SMP Wed Jan 12 05:05:13 UTC 2011

    Versions: craftbukkit 740, LogBlock 0.14
    mysql-connector-java-bin is up to date

    any ideas?

Does the MySQL server accept remote and tcp connections?

    Luzius

    sure..

i connect the database from different hosts without problems.
the plug is atm the only one with these connection problems.

ah and i´ve seen that the plugin use in every case the reverseDNS url. so they override the host entry inside the config file (only as info because this is not really a problem in my case)

Then you could post the mysql connection relevant part from the config.
The error message is caused by insufficient permissions, either due to a typo in username, pw or database name, or limited user rights.

    mysql:
    port: 3306
    host: URL
    password: xxx
    user: xxx
    database: minecraft

no tabs inside .. i´ve checked the host,pw x times ^^ they are correct.
userrights on the db are the same as before (full rights to the database)
i´ve updated from 0.13 with config regenerate.. so i´ve only changed the user,host,port..
i´ve redownload the mysql-connector-java-bin via the plugin.

EDIT: the permissions of the user to the db are correct.
i can connect with these accessdata from the host to the db server via the mysql console.

    Doesn't work.
For instance, I want to rollback a TNT explosion close to me.

What do I have exactly to write to rollback this explosion, with the time argument ?

    Mysterious ...
Maybe you could completely reinstall LB (including renaming the tables).
/lb rollback player TNT 10 hours
