When did this happen?!

Sorry, this might be in the wrong place.

But I've been away from MC for a few months, since I started working on my own game.

Today, I wanted to test my new PC and hop on MC and decided to hop on the shotbow server.
When I joined, I wandered around, and I saw this:






How did they put custom pictures up there? Was this just added in a recent update? A plugin?

Either they edited maps, or they retextured paintings, both work. Looks more as Maps on ItemFrames.

 

I agree; however, if you were asked to download a texture pack, then that's the reason.

I wasn't, I just installed a fresh copy of MC, no texture packs, and joined... Seeing that blew my mind lol.

 

Yeah, they made an area that looked like that from the sky, then used a map to capture the image, and put the map on an item frame. So somewhere on that server there is some horizontal pixel art

Or they directly engraved an image into a map, from a plugin. Such as ImagetoMap.

 

I did not know about that... wow, there's a plugin for everything out there.
