Looking for the right plugins

Hey there,

as I already wanted to express by the thread title, I am planning to play minecraft with some friends and I am currently creating our own server.
It's been a longer time since I played Minecraft for the last time. I still know how to set up and configure every essential part of the server - that's not what I´m requesting help for.
Because of my longer absence from Minecraft and Bukkit, I totally lost the overview over all the plugins available here. I could have tested all the plugins but this would have costed me so much time I could better spend somewhere else. So I created this thread here in hope of some useful advice from experienced players and developers.

So, enough of this, I´ll come straight to the point:
I´m using the latest recommended build: "craftbukkit-1.6.4-R2.0"
We want to combine safety and comfort on the server.
Therefore the plugins should combine the following functions:

• Whitelist (I know the server already has one provided but can you suggest one with comfortable ingame-control via chat-commands?)
• Password-Authorization
• Log (Is there a plugin that logs every action happening on the server so if something happens on the server e.g. a TNT-Explosion I can look up the perpetrator - without taking too many resources?)
• Automatical backups of the Server (with the possibility to partially back-up certain areas in case of accident)
• [Securing Chests] (not quite sure if I´d really integrate this but it would be nice to hear a suggestion)
• Anti X-Ray (you know, prohibit people from using this transparent texture-pack to detect diamonds)
• Warps and TP (I think on my last server we used essentials for that purpose - which also offered some other commands. Is it still up to date? Would you recommend it? Or are there other plugins for this purpose that you could recommend?)
• Assignment of permissions (I remember GroupManager and Permissions fulfilled that task. Which would be advisable?)
• Chat modification (enabling some useful stuff like personal messages, ...)

These are the first things that come to my mind when I think of plugins I would need on the server.
If there are some other plugins you could recommend that would fit into our style of server, be welcome to do so.

I know It's a lot I am demanding here but I´d really appreciate it if some people who are more into the subject than I am could help me. For me it would mean a lot of trial & error, you can probably name some up-to-date and well working plugins and save me that effort.

I´m still in hope for answers. To make it shorter, my question is the following:
Which plugin should I use for
- Whitelist
- Password
- Log
- Backup

- Warps and TP
- Rights

10000% of these could be found in less than three seconds with a Google search, for example: Click here the third one down is the plugin I suggested, even the first search result would work. Please don't waste peoples time due to your laziness. I've have taken my time to find list the following.

• Whitelist - The whitelist can be controlled in-game through; /whitelist on, /whitelist off, /whitelist add and if I'm correct /whitelist reload.
• Log - logblock can be used for the logs, and allows for simple moderation in game. It does however require a large amount of server resources and may require a mySql database.
• Password - There is multiple plugins out there that do this, an example can be found here.
• Backup - Not to sure about this but most server providers do have this feature, otherwise if it is a server hosted on a home pc this may need to be done manually. An alternative to this could to be source a plugin that executes commands every x time value. And this command could be /save to limit the chance of corruption to the world.
• Oreobfuscator - Can be used for an anti x-ray plugin, look at the dependent plugins required for it to run.
• Warps and TP - Essentials
• Rights - If you mean permissions, try essentials permissions.
• Chat - Essentials chats is good for this.

First of all I want to say thanks to you, Minecraft Jackson!
Your suggestions help me a lot and I can start right now.

But still I want to object! I never wanted to waste peoples time nor was I too lazy. It might seem like that when you only read my second post.. which was in fact just a push. But I think I explained the reason for this thread quite clearly in my first post, also spending a lot of time to structure and formulate it in a clear way.

For someone who is not into the subject it is hard to overview all available plugins.
The plugin-list is quite overcrowded and confusing in my opinion, too.
I could possibly have found some of the plugins that you now mentioned just by google-searchs and in fact I did research.. but I always get multiple results.
When I search for Bukkit TP/WARP-Plugin, I find various of results. But I can't judge these because I wasn't around on bukkit in the last time.

That was why I opened this thread.. in order to get some suggestions from people who've made their experiences with the plugins. Is this that bad?
Do I need to spend hours of downloading, configuration, trial&error to finally get it working with the functions I desired or isn't it a better way to ask kindly in the forums where experienced players and server-admins can spend two minutes of their life to help me out and just name some plugins they can recommend?

In order to give the players different ranks and rights, which plugin would you others suggest?
So far, I´ve found

• bPermissions
• PermissionsEX
• Group Manager

which seem like the most commonly used. I´d be happy if someone could take the time and suggest one of these with reasoning.
