A new CraftBukkit for Minecraft 1.7.5 DEVELOPMENT build is now available! We strongly suggest that you only use this build if you would like to help us get a Beta build out sooner and are experienced with using unsupported development builds.

Despite the updates following Minecraft 1.7's release being relatively small and purely for the client, I decided it would be a good idea for us to keep pace with them in order to help with larger future updates. Unfortunately, after we had completed the update for 1.7.4, a 1.7.5 update was released which meant we had to start the update over. At the same time, we found ourselves battling against technical issues with our core infrastructure leading to a much longer update period than should have been necessary.

Will plugins break with this build?
Minecraft 1.7 is one of the most involved updates to date, with Mojang having touched a reported ~220k+ lines of code. As a result, a significant amount of the code base has shifted making it difficult to ensure any stability with regards to our API. That being said, it is difficult to determine if plugins will be breaking with our 1.7.x update and the state of the API in our earlier development builds should NOT be relied upon in any way.

    What is a Development Build?
A Development build is provided AS IS and COMPLETELY UNSUPPORTED. You should only be running these builds if you are completely aware of how to properly make use of them. Support requests of ANY KIND will be removed without warning. If you have to ask where or how to get the development build, you should NOT be running it and posts of that nature will be deleted.

Is the 1.7.2 RO.3 beta build safe?

1.7.5 adds disco sheep (just name a sheep "jeb_"), while 1.7.2 does not support them

Which says, "Several server-side performance improvements and bug fixes", without answering my question.

Actually, that was a 1.7.4 client feature, which works fine with the 1.7.2 server.

Im guessing this means that the 1.7.5 (server/javadocs?) source will be avail soon as well since Im guessing someone finished de-obfuscating it in a offical capacity?

Just as a headsup for server owners, having an "!" or a symbol in the folder names will cause the server to not function or startup at all.
    For example: "E:/!GameServers/Minecraft Server 01/"

This is not an issue with Bukkit directly so it will most likely not be fixed anytime soon.

That is a Java issue and has already been documented here:

Will be testing after installing tonight. After running the Beta for almost 4 months now, I 'll let my players test the new Dev. Built. (lets see how much bugs they will find) No need to worry they will be informed.

Awesome job! Will we be getting a recommended build anytime soon? or will it be a longshot?

The source code, like always, is immediately available on github and the mc-dev repository was immediately updated after the update. As the 1.7.5 update is currently a development build, you can find the javadocs at jd.bukkit.org with all the others.

  15. Yay! I wish mojang wold slow down their updates though; they're barely giving anybody the time to catch up!

I might download it and try testing it, but I'm not a very good beta tester and I wouldn't know what to really look for other than blatant error messages.

  19. I'm just wondering, does this snapshot include the fix for the /testfor and /setblock command's for the command block, or am I going to have to request a plugin to emulate this behavior?

Will there be a release version for 1.7.2? We're still running 1.6.4 on our server waiting for the next Bukkit release. :(

You can update to the Latest Beta Build(R0.3); it's pretty stable, I've been using it on my server for a while now.

So, with 1.7.6 coming out, does that mean you'll have to restart the development cycle like you did with 1.7.4 when 1.7.5 came out?

The amount of 1.7.x versions coming out seems to be a tad bit ill-planned, seeing as the 1.8 deadline for Mojang is nearing.

1.7.6 is out now, but it's not compatible with 1.7.5. Since there was never a Recommended Build for CraftBukkit 1.7.5, or 1.7.4, or 1.7.2, maybe they should give up on 1.7.5 and go to 1.7.6.

What do you mean by "deadline?"

And to answer your question: I suspect the next dev build will be labeled 1.7.7-R0.1. So probably.

Will this build be transferred to the recent 1.7.6 and 1.7.7 update? I'd hope you get this out soon so I can start my server back up.

Whoops, I meant "time that Mojang will probably - with emphasis on probably - release 1.8, and is much like an ETA, although not quite an ETA, because ETAs are not meant to be relied upon" instead of "deadline". :)

In other words, I read from the Minecraft Wiki that Mojang is planning to release 1.8 in May; see here.

Ah, gotcha. I tend to fall out of the loop quite a bit, so to speak, so I wasn't sure if I was missing something.

From what I understand, 1.7.6/7 introduce some significant protocol changes, which could potentially delay the release of a Bukkit dev build. However, since it's a fairly minor update, I suspect they would have an update out within the next couple of days, but don't take that estimate too seriously. The Bukkit team is notoriously inconsistent in terms of completion times (no offense Bukkit team, I know you work hard :p).

Funny how Mojang just now came out with a 1.7.8 build.
