As the titel says, one of my friends can't join my server, which has a custom port (25720)
All my other friends can join, even people i don't know, but when he tries to join a server with the default port (25565) he can join. So my thoughts is that his router is the problem. We have opened the custom port, but no luck, we have made static ip, no luck, we have reinstalled Minecraft, no luck, and even removed every line that is not a comment from C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts, but we found out, that there was only comments (the lines starting with #).
    Any ideas?

    Bump

  2. And he can join other servers? You haven't banned him or anything?

BlockCat Yes, but just not servers that has a port, which is not 25565 (default). My thought is that the router only allows 25565, but every router, which is not port forwarded, should be able to connect, so router and firewall is fine. We have thou opened the server port, and allowed it in the firewall, but no use :(

It just makes something with timeout, he can't even get the MOTD on the server list. There is something wrong with the ports.

Has he typed in the correct IP? Has he added :25720 after the IP address?

    Example: 22.22.22.22:25720 (or play.whatever.com:25720)

Did you port forward on only your router right? Also from what I hear it might be a firewall issue with his network.

DrPyroCupcake Nope, if you read what i said, we tried to portforward 25720 in AND out, plus opening the port in the firewall. My last thought is his anti-virus program. Let me see if it works.
EDIT: Sorry, i have just read this topic again, and i didn't really say that we tried the router firewall. But we did, so the only thing missing, is the anti-virus program ;)

    So, let's list our problems.
You have a server running on port 25720 and your friend is connecting on "IP":25720.
You've cleared your hosts file of nothing, nevermind.
Your friend's antivirus won't block outgoing ports unless he tells it to.
The only way he can join on 25565 is if you have multiple servers running. Try restarting the machine entirely to clear the cache and kill any programs.
You're not using a server are you? As in SSH?

I'm not running the server, i have a host. But as i said in the first post, he can't join ANY server, which doesen't use the default port. So it must be client side.
I don't knowwhat you mean by multiple servers, running 25565.
So, as you said, the antivirus program must not block all ports, that is not 25565, by default. We actually use the same anti-virus program xD
He doesen't even use any mods :O His brother on the same network can't join neither, so it MUST be the router. We actually use the exact same router too :O (It's a known router in Denmark :3). Any thoughts? I can't enter my router because it's some stupid free one from my fathers job. (Free internet though :O).
    Nice profile picture :p

Ask your friend to add the port as a host. Try that.

We have port forwarded it with TCP and UDP, no use :(

Port forwarding is only used on the server end. Setting up port forwarding on the client's router will only cause problems.

What happens if you open up a command window and do: telnet xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx 25720
(Note that's a space between the IP address and the port)

Bobcat00 We have tested, and it returns: "Telnet could not be found".
