First time running a server. Using a hosting company with excellent reviews. 1024Mb RAM, 10GB SSD package. All was running great for awhile. But then one of the players became too well established. His home area is constantly in excess of 530 entities. He's got a very large: cow farm, chicken farm, sheep farm, pig farm, villager farm, mob spawner tower, several golems, and several nametagged hostiles. It finally just all added up. All this gets loaded whenever he is at his home. And when the area is loaded, it's starting to slam server performance. Along with a steady stream of the overload messages in console: [Server] WARN Can't keep up! Did the system time change, or is the server overloaded? Running 3570ms behind, skipping 71 tick(s)
I'm tempted to upgrade my hosting package to 1536Mb RAM, 15GB SSD. Does an extra half gig of ram sound like it would help, or is 500+ entities just too unreasonable? He's also a friend and I hate to ask him to migrate or kill off a bunch of his farms. Thanks for the tips.

what is your "friend" doing with 500+ animals?
to handle 500+ animals in just a few chunks you need more than 32+GB

I prefer to kill his animals and make a server-rule like "100 NPC's per user"

ClearLagg could help if you want to kill some animals off.
    500+ is unreasonable.
