Hello, I had an idea where an owner could use /givecam or whatever and receive a block of glowstone, which he/she could place anywhere and define the camera. In the folder, there would be other folders for the different cameras, and inside those folders would be compressed folders containing 15 min. video files taken from the cam. That way if someone who you opped griefs, you can check the footage to see who it is. Thanks, Coach0512
coach0512 I think there was a plugin like this a while ago that worked, something happened to it. So it's possible, but of course very difficult and like AndyMcB1 said, resource intensive. Edit: Don't know much about mods, but maybe using them?
I've never heard of someone successfully capturing video server-side. The closest that has been done is recording player movements, block placements, and interactions, perhaps a snapshot of the original chunk(s) all with time stamps and then replaying it using a fake player. That method to "record" will be an incredibly large amount of data if you want it to have smooth playback. It is more of a novelty idea than a practical one.
skore87 I would assume that it would require the server to have a working/powerful graphics card with some software installed to come close to doing that. Maybe the server would have to create a invisible client and just have it record through something like bandicam (If has an api of some sorts). I don't even think a plugin could actually do this, most probably a plugin with another software. But, the amount of requirements to do this would be way to much to even count. So, yes. Its impossibru.
Check out the plugin known as "coreprotect", it's as close to what you want as you'll get. Recording actual footage would be nearly impossible, it would have to be done simmilar to how dynmap creates a 3d map of the server, and even dynmap doesn't detect EVERY change(so not impossible, but extremely resource intensive, using up tons of RAM and hard disk space). CoreProtect will record all interactions, let you preview how the map looked at a specific time, and optionally roll back actions to a specific time, within a specific radius, and even for a specific player.
Even if you could (or it was better for running servers) don't you think they would of done it by now?
I'm sure its possible to make your own edit of CB but the likely hood is so slim it is easier to just call that as improbable or impossible if you think inside the box.
