Reset Nether - new blocks etc

We have had a bukkit server since "the beginning of Minecraft" and now we want to reset the nether to get alot of new features/blocks there.

So how can we reset Nether to get all new features/blocks of Nether from a very old world?

 

What happens if i start a new "single game" and just copy/paste the Nether folder from that to our bukkit server?
(Will that work) or will it just (as we explore) be the same as our current one? (Still without the extra features/blocks)?

 

Why not just delete the world_nether folder and restart?

 

Because i read something that when doing so, it rebuilds "the same" without the extra stones etc as i already have because of the seed/dat file i have. (See quote in first post)

 

Almost certain that it will generate with the new 1.7 stuff why not give it a try?

 

So that was "wrong information" i readed then, sounds good.
Btw: What happens if someone is in Nether and i remove that folder?
And Nether rebuilds a new one
