[Tough]Random Generated Drug Bases

    Suggested name: Drug Base

    What I would like: I want to setup a small Drug-based server. I would like to have a plugin which will spawn random drug farms in the world that I have. When the farms are found, they should be removed when the chunk is unloaded. No matter if the drug farm is emptied or not. Sometimes there should be bigger farms than normal, and sometimes smaller ones.

    Ideas for commands:

    /drugbase nearest - Warp to the nearest drug base.
    /drugbase create <small/normal/big> - Manually create a drug base.
    /drugbase remove - Remove the nearest drug base.
    /drugbase info - Receive information about the drug base. (Size, if it's already found, by who etc..)

    Ideas for permissions:

    drugbase.nearest - Give permission to warp to the nearest drug base. (Default OP-Only)
    drugbase.create.small - Permission to create a small drug base. (Default OP-Only)
    drugbase.create.normal - Permission to create a medium sized drug base. (Default OP-Only)
    drugbase.create.big - Permission to create a big drug base. (Default OP-Only)
    drugbase.remove - Permission to remove a drug base. No matter what size. (Default OP-Only)
    drugbase.info - Permission to gain info about a drug base.

    Optional permissions:

    drugbase.canfind - If permission is false, players can't "find" a drug base so the drug base won't despawn after they visited it. (I suggest to give this to moderators and admins) (Default no-one).

    When I'd like it by: That does not really matter.

    Depends on the request, a month isn't uncommon, since yours isn't really the easiest to make, would guess 2-3 weeks

    Ender_Mouse, then it is just not going to be done. As far as I know, it is pretty hard to make custom terrain features like that. I would recommend looking into Terrain Control, which has the ability to make new terrain features. After you have a map create terrain features like that, the plugin would be simply (but not that simple) finding a concentration of "drugs" (whatever plant that is), and warping to it.
     
  6. I can think of how it'd work conceptually:

    1. Find an area with no man-made blocks in it at random
    2. Have a small chance of spawning in a prefabbed building when this occurs
    3. Monitor the chunk for an unload event; when this happens, replace the building with the blocks that used to be there
    It would be somewhat tricky, though, as you'd need to do stuff to the chunk after it unloads. You could probably just re-load it briefly to regen the building, but that seems iffy.

    It's like a village but i dont want it to regen i just want it disappear and farther in the world new ones appear so there is always x number of farms

    I like the idea, but I'm currently working on something else and don't have the time. If no one picks it up here. I would recommend seeking a specific dev instead of just throwing out the idea to anyone who wants it. But maybe someone with time will come along and do it.

    I'm pointing out that, from a statistical and mathematical standpoint, it's very unlikely that it'll get developed. If the thread is three months old, most of the community and capable developers have taken note of this threads' existence and elected to not reply and refrain from offering to develop it.

    The plugin idea is perfectly fine IMO, and I would have supported it three months ago, but it's evident now that there's a very slim chance of this plugin getting made by a developer for free. I don't rag on ideas because of personal sentiments, only likelihoods and what has happened historically.

    rayblon Then again, if you cannot contribute to a topic, do not post on it. Telling the OP he shouldnt bump a topic because of your personal opinion on how many may want to develop it, or telling people to break the rules (Monetary offers are not allowed here) will not be accepted here.

    I based my prediction on PREVIOUS OBSERVATIONS, and recorded information. It's not an opinion, as it has been PROVEN that the age of a thread and the likelihood of a plugin being developed have an inverse relationship. By recording the day a plugin request is submitted and the day it is filled, using the difference, you can draw a general trend line using plugins that are confirmed as developed. After the first week, the odds of development are cut in half, and after the first month, it dips down to 2-3%(100% probability refers to a requests' likelihood in relation to the highest statistical day of filling, day zero, within 24 hours of filling). These statistics are mostly pertinent to small plugins, though. Larger plugins, from what data I have, follow a similar trend but are less likely to be developed from the start. I never suggested he attempt to perform a monetary transaction on here, but didn't feel it necessary to point out that it would require contacting an off-site third party; all users are expected to know the rules, thus there should be no need to note it in my post.

    I use caps to clarify important parts of an argument, not as a show of emotion. I normally use it when restating something that may have been missed or misinterpreted. The reason I've been collecting this information is because I'm working on creating a proof for my 'stale thread' hypothesis.
