    MOVED TO DEV BUKKIT:

    News

    v2.4.2 Released - 9/24/2011
See the change log for details.
Everyone using PermissionsEx, Essentials, or anything else besides the regular permissions plugin or PermissionsBukkit should add or change this in their config under the Global section:
    LegacyPermissions: true
As of 2.4.0 the bPermissions plugin is supported directly.
As of 2.3.7 the PermissionsBukkit plugin is supported directly.
This support is not done through the new built in Permissions that bukkit provides, because there is no way to get a players group using the built in methods. However, by supporting this directly, you can now use the new permissions system while still keeping Residence, and not having to use old permissions at all anymore.

    Residence Signs (by KarnEdge)

NOTE: All Residence usage information has been moved to the wiki!

    About:
Residence is different from most protection plugins in that it aims for the users to be able to protect their own homes without having to bother the admin to do it. Residence has support for a variety of different protection types including preventing movement through areas, all of which can be configured by the land owner, and limited by the admin.
    Features:
    Features (open)

    • Allows players to define protected areas for themselves.
    • Individual permissions for each protected area. Land owner can give / deny permissions globally or to other specific players.
    • Different permissions per land include: move, build, use, pvp, fire, teleport, monsters spawn, damage prevention
    • Support for group permissions on protections.
    • Multi-World support.
    • Teleport system to allow users to teleport to residences.
    • Collision detection system to prevent residences from overlapping.
    • Limits to protected size can be set up by the admin.
    • Limits to number of protected areas per player can be set.
    • Two ways to select land including using the select command, or using a item to select 2 points.
    • Messages when you enter / leave a residence. (customizable)
    • Land "leasing" system which requires users to renew the lease on their protection every X number of days or loose the protection. (off by default, see config file)
    • Recursive Sub-zoning. Create zones within zones, and then zones within those zones...
    • TONS of configuration for admins. Customize every single flag that players can or cannot use in the config file, based on their permissions group.
    • (Optional) IConomy support, can set up cost per X number of blocks protected.
    • (Optional) Permissions support.
    • In-game help / commands descriptions

    - "Use" flag now covers trap doors.
    - Lease renewal can now be pulled from the Residence's bank.

    • Added "piston" flag.
    v2.3.4
    • Fixes for CB1000

    • Removed subzone list from /res info, and gave it its own command that supports multiple pages, /res sublist <residence> <page>
    • If the save file errors, it will now be preserved rather then overwritten, it will be renamed res-ERRORED.yml, the plugin will now disable itself upon error as well unless the StopOnSaveFault option in the config is set to false.
    • Fixed non-working per-world flags.
    • Fixed a few message bugs.
    • Add /resadmin removeall <player> admin command to remove all residences owned by a player.

    • Removed area list from /res info, use /res area list [residence] or /res area listall [residence] now.

    • Fixed residences not being properly removed from lease / rent system, upon deletion.
    • Fixed bug related to default group option in the config.
    • Fixed global "container" flag bug.
    • Fixed some NPE's related to explosions.
    • Added /resload command to load the save file after you make changes to it (UNSAFE, as it does not save residences first, and so you may loose new residences that were just created)
    v2.2
    • Added per residence Blacklist/Ignorelists that will allow you to specify certain block types to be ignored from residence protections, or unable to be placed in residences.
    • Added Server owned land, use /resadmin server <residence> to change the owner to "Server Owned"

    • Added "/res area replace" command, allows you to resize / move a physical area. If the new area is bigger, it will only charge you for the difference in size.
    • Added 'waterflow' and 'lavaflow' flags which override the flow flag if set.
    • Fixed a bug causing money to still be charged when failing to add a area to a residence.
    v2.1.1
    • Fix case sensitivity bug in rent system.
    v2.1
    • BOSEconomy support.
    • Essentials Economy support.
    • RealShop Economy support.
    • Added the 'place' and 'destroy' flags, which if used overrule the 'build' flag. These allow you to give only block placement permissions in a certain area, or only block destroy permissions.
    • /res check [residence] [flag] <player> command, this command evaluates if <player> is affected by [flag] at [residence]. You can leave off <player> and it will use your name.
    • Added a LeaseAutoRenew config option, that will cause leases to automatically renew so long as the player has the money to do so. Note that, if economy is disabled this doesn't work, as there would be no point to leases. Needs Testing! :)
    • Global FlagPermission config section, that allows you to give permission to use a flag to all groups, useful for the build / move / use flag that you almost definitely want everyone to have access to. Flags under each individual group will overrule these.
    • You can now set a limits on how deep or how high protections can go into the group, using each groups MinHeight and MaxHeight settings.
    • /res select sky, and /res select bedrock commands, these auto adjust to the above mentioned MinHeight and MaxHeight settings, so it won't select into a area you can't protect.
    • Rent system implemented.
    • Many bug fixes, including proper creeper explosion prevention now. Also, fixed some bugs when renaming residences.
    • New healing flag.
    • The monsters flag has been split up into "animals" and "monsters" now.
    • New Developer API, including custom Bukkit events.

I can't decide whether I want to use this plugin or the Towny plugin. They're both so great. Both have so many features. Halp.

The problem i had with 'Towny' is that it appears the boudaries of a town are limited by chunks. So i think you say
"Ok this town is 4x4 chunks"
Now 100% sure but this one "Residence" seems much easier to understand and is more fitted to my server needs
Just look at features, see which one you like. Which one has the features you want? Which one seems easiest for you or your server players to understand?
    Hope i helped,

I'm not sure I quite understand. You mean to say they can build on some of the protected area but not the whole cuboid? And its not caused by subzones right? This shouldn't really be possible unless its related to that old CraftBukkit bug way back that would sometimes cause wrong locations to be reported for players, but that was fixed long ago.

Ok, I think i figured out whats wrong. Looks like in certain cases it was getting a invalid permission group. I think I got it properly fixed now so that if it gets a invalid one it will just put you in the default group properly. Also, as to the reason that the permission group was invalid, there's a possibility it was due to case-sensitivity in group names which I think I have also fixed now. I'll release a new bugfix version here either today or tomorrow and we will see. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to do some testing on this :D
Your using 2.0? I'll double check, I was working on some world stuff last minute and I may have forgotten to re-test some stuff. If your not using 2.0, just wait until 2.0 is done as it should work better with multiworld handling then the original when its done.

Havn't quite been able to figure this one out, what CB version was this with? I'll do some more testing...

What CraftBukkit version are you using? It sounds like breakage somewhere in between the CraftBukkit build event and my plugin. It also could be some conflict with another plugin.

v2.0 seems to be working fine on my server CB670 with all plugins uptodate.
i have yet to try out all the commands but creating a res worked fine and the flags seemed to function correctly for creator and and a lower ranked player.
will do more testing later this week with other players, groups, and commands/features.

btw, this has yet to be fixed/corrected

@bekvon -> sambhur ment, that you have to fix the missing player flags by buying the land/residence.
So If I buy a residence, all player flags are saved for me. But now if I sell my residence and anyone buys it, he hasn't the player flags. This is my problem and maybe he ment this ;)

    bekvon

Ok, so what you mean is that when the land is bought, the new owner doesn't have permission to build there because the flags are still set to the old owners? is this what you mean? cause if so, its fixed in v2.0 :D Whenever you buy land in v2.0 the flags are set to the new owners default flags, just like if he had freshly created the residence himself.

I havn't developed with or tested with groupmanager, but I was under the impression that all the Permissions plugins used the same interface and were interchangeable. Make sure you have both GroupManager installed and its FakePermissions plugin installed as well.

Ok, looks like you got 2 sepearte issues. The first error log is from residence, which looks like it was caused because it was trying to load a empty save file or something. Your not using a save file from v1.X are you? cause they aren't compatible right now, and that could have caused the crash too. I added some checks for this that will hopefully fix the crash and just ignore the save file if its empty. The second issue you have is completly unrelated to Residence, it looks like your iConomy blew up somehow on its own, which may affect residence's ability to charge iConomy money and stuff. But that part isn't anything I can do about, thats iConomy. Anyway, thanks for reporting this :) You can try the snapshot version at the top of the OP to see if it fixes the first issue.

I am just having all kinds of problems with this plugin lately. I have been setting up residences for other players, and letting them set up their own if they can figure out how, but when i use /res list its not showing me anything at all except 2-3 that I set up a few days ago. Its so bizarre.

What is the chance of getting a Residence/Subzone rename feature added? One thing I noticed is that I create plots in the central city on my server that make sense to me and help me quickly track down which one they are. Users on the other hand don't like those names and don't want people seeing that they entered residence Redstone.Commercial.4-3 but want me to rename it to Redstone.Commercial.BillsShopOfWonderfull. It is a slight pain to have to do this at the regular server reboots.

    @bekvon

I am runing craftbukkit b670 and residence is up to date and i don't make subzones.
Here is a little more info: i make the land with your plugin. Then i sell it and Someone buy it. Then they start to build on the land. But in some of the land is it like they don't have build rights. I can build as admin Where they cant it is so strange:)

@bekvon Heya, if you need someone to work on the wiki i'd be happy to do it. I'm making one using the same site for my own server atm so i know my way around :) Happy to help as it's such a useful plugin :).

I can add screenshots and things too to make it easier to understand. Maybe videos :/ not sure whether wikispaces allows videos.

Anyway just msg me back and i'll look into it :).
    -DanJames

PS. i have some time today so if you need help i can get some done.

Oh, another thing. On my RPG server i've set up a small town with set plots of land that can be bought to build on.

One thing i wanted was renting houses. So the house belongs to me, but a player could do say '/res rent house1'. They then are allowed to use the door to enter the house, use the chests, crafting bench, furncae, bed etc, but not build.

I spose this could use a similar thing tol the lease system, hoewver when the rented time runs out (if you stop paying), instead of the protections being disabled, the player is chucked out the house.

I'm not sure how this would work with chests, maybe their stuff is locking in the house until they pay the money again. If you don't understand this please ask :) but this is something that would be VERY useful to my server.

I've reworked the config to what I think would be a clearer format (added a few potential features too):

I've forked your codebase but don't have time to do any of this at the moment, I'm struggling with my server over some lag issues and I need to get those fixed before anything else so that I can release it.

Just wanted to see what you thought?

Just to note, anyone trying 2.0 you can get config from the download. But the dropbox jar doesn't fully work. Download the Snapshop jar from github in his post

I am able to create residences with my Admin, however testing with a player int he default group, in the same area. I get Unable to create residence not in same world as residence.(not sure if thats how it was worded) But with my admin I can create one, then right next to it, but not overlapping my non-admin cannot

Is this with 2.0 or 1.X? And /res list only shows residences you own, if you want to see all use /res listall
Someone posted that it wasn't working with GroupManager a few posts ago. I don't know why to be honest, as most permission plugins are freely interchangeable since they follow the same layout as the original permissions. Only thing I can think of is its a bug of some kind in GroupManagers implementation. Try either setting EnablePermissions to false in the config file and see what that does for you.

I was actually working on this already since someone mentioned to me earlier that it would be a nice feature :D I went ahead and implemented it into v2.0.

Sure! wiki help would be great. PM me your wiki user-name and I'll add it to the allowed users. Many thanks :D

Il add that to the todo list, somone else earlier wanted a feature like this. :)

Hmm, some of these changes are pretty nice. I do like that flag layout. I'll play around with this and maybe implement some of it. :) If nothing else, your descriptions of each are fantastic! Grammatically correct too, unlike mine ;)

Oh, and the latest snapshot has changed. By requests, I have now split explosions into 'creeper' and 'tnt'. Also, I split fire into 'ignite' and 'firespread' to disable/enable fire ignition and fire spread. There is also now a config file snapshot on GitHub.

EDIT: also includes /res rename command, as well as a PlayerGroupAssignments section at the end of the config to manually specify a players group.

EDIT2: just pushed another update, added a chunk selection command and changed the config file based on suggestions from SirHedgehog

turning off the permissions didnt make the message disappear, is there any way that you can manually remove that message not to appear at all without taking the plugin out of course

does it work if you set it to other things like a stick?
i imagine this might have something to do with using the bone to tame wolfs.

I used to get this problem, i'll check now if i still do :) two secs ;)

EDIT: Yes still getting the same problem.
Well before i updated to the latest SNAPSHOT the bone was working, however changing it should have been the first thing it tried. I'll test that now :)

Just a thought but the ability to remove parts of a residence[create a hole basically] or section off parts to be sold would be nice.

On a whole though love the plugin.
