Since Minecraft 1.7.2 was released on October 25th we've been putting in a ridiculous amount of work non-stop towards a CraftBukkit for Minecraft 1.7.2 and I am happy to finally be able to announce that we now have development builds available. We strongly suggest that you only use this build if you would like to help us get a Beta build out sooner and are experienced with using unsupported development builds.

WARNING: Minecraft 1.7.2 is an update that requires clients to update before being able to connect.

    What is a Development Build?
A Development build is provided AS IS and COMPLETELY UNSUPPORTED. You should only be running these builds if you are completely aware of how to properly make use of them. Support requests of ANY KIND will be removed without warning. If you have to ask where or how to get the development build, you should NOT be running it and posts of that nature will be deleted.

Will plugins break with this build?
Minecraft 1.7 is one of the most involved updates to date, with Mojang having touched a reported ~220k+ lines of code. As a result, a significant amount of the code base has shifted making it difficult to ensure any stability with regards to our API. That being said, it is difficult to determine if plugins will be breaking with our 1.7.2 update and the state of the API in our earlier development builds should NOT be relied upon in any way.

    Known Issues:
    • None

I wouldn't be too sure about that, the snapshots have several server only updates.

Also, for everyone concerned about the release of 1.7.3, and it's impact on Bukkit - 1.7.2 was a major release with so many changes, I'm sure it made some people's head spin. Even MCP hasn't been updated yet, and it's has a talented staff of developers just like Bukkit, with the backing of almost every modder in the community.

It was hard, with a lot of effort needing to be put in, emphasized by the quote, above.

1.7.3 won't ship with nearly as many changes and, while development will probably still be a while from BETA, the change to 1.7.3 won't be nearly as much of a hindrance.

Latest snapshots work fine on latest bukkit. Except for the redstone issue and a few other bugs which have been reported to the leaky.

Surprisingly even with all the code changes not many of the plugins that I use broke on the test server I tested it on. Only a couple did.

    Thank You Bukkit Gods

I can't believe that I can start building with 1.7.2 this week. You guys are amazing. I have very few plugins throw errors and they all seem to still work, none the less. Thank you so much. You guys are amazing.

We appear to be having a few redstone issues with our test server. Some weird Redstone mechanics and floating redstone, lol. Also, plugins it says aren't working actually are... Odd. :p Other than that it seems to be running fine!

    New EDIT-BUG FOUND
DO NOT USE THIS BUILD IF YOU USE A LINUX SERVER.

There is a bug where the build spouts tons of error logs, all of which are empty, and does not log anything in the server.log. The files are empty, but overtime, will use up all the OS filehandle space, causing the server OS to crash.

As far as we can tell on our matecraft test server, it only effects Lunix. Windows appeared to be logging just fine.

This has been submitted to bukkit. Thought I'd let you know.

How would a random server owner such as myself, help in finding bugs and reporting them etc.. to make it more stable?

    Thank you!

I found a bug where if you use player.setListName("value") it will keep your old name in the TAB list and create a new one.
