localhost works but not ip address

I had my friends join my server, but it didnt work. i use localhost, it worked all right, but i only got one bar of connection on the same computer i run the server and play minecraft. i checked to see if the firewall was the problem, but it wasnt. any questions about the problem u can ask. help? thx

 

Did you port forward it?

 

Can you try running the client on another PC within your network?

 

i didnt, i kept it at 25565

i tried it on my mac and my laptop in the same network, still the same problem

 

Not being able to access it from a a computer within the same network may indicate that a firewall or a third party program (AVG, Avast, BitDefender, Kaspersky) is not allowing your server to communicate with other computers. Do you have any of them?

 

not sure if AVG is the problem, but ill uninstall it/turn it off and see if that was the case. ill let you know CRAZYxMUNK3Y

I'm not 100% sure on what OfficeScan does, but after a quick search, it sets a firewall for all computers on a network? Correct me if I'm wrong...

Try selecting "To add a policy" on this page and follow the instructions on allowing a program/port through the firewall.
