Is it illegal for an owner to crash someones game with a plugin?

The owner at -snip- has a plugin called MattCrash. It will spam someones chat and play super weird loud noises and crash their game!

Is that allowed? If it's not why hasn't bukkit fixed it yet...this can't be fair.

Its their server, I think they can do what they want. Just don't play on it

 

Honestly it isn't really Bukkit's problem. Bukkit provides an API so people can make their own plugins; the plugins people make are up to them. Bukkit can't really "restrict" what server owners' plugins can do in that fashion, as server owner's are free to use the Bukkit API however they please, though a feature will not be added if its primary purpose is to deceive players.

 

It's still wrong though, and the guy has like 200 people consistently, and is making gobs of money, but he abuses like crazy, and stole several peoples money, and yet their is nothing anyone can do...it's wrong.

 

I find it hard to believe a server has two hundred people on it consistently if the server owner is doing this to its players.

 

Bukkit can't do anything against this particular server, as the software is provided "as is".

You mentioned in your post that this server owner "stole several peoples money".
I assume this means a user donated, and then the user was kicked/banned/abused.
If this is the case, you may want to check the Terms of Conditions that donators accept during their purchase to see whether the server owner is permitted to do this. However, many servers write in their Terms and Conditions that kicking/banning can be done "at their own discretion".

 

He disbanded their faction because he didn't like their name(It wasn't even a bad name...it was like GOx or something). When they went to complain he banned them forever. They lost everything when he disbanded them. I don't think it's right...

Plus, The owner posts videos of himself skype calling cops and cussing them out. He is an all around jerk...but there are so many people on...that the 10-20 he harasses can't even make a dent...it's not right.

Also, There were no terms...he required them to donate directly to his paypal...

Why anyone would pay real money to play on a minecraft server is beyond me.

Also, Why should we not name and shame these people? I don't want people to fall into his trap.

 

lecraeman Against the rules. I'd say it's because if we name someone, and they see the thread, then drama will begin and that's not something we want. :\

Never the less, locked. We don't have any control of what people do with this API, and while what they are doing is frowned upon, there's nothing we can do. If you have an issue with how the owner is doing things, than it's your decision whether or not to continue playing on their server.
