any one trying to connect to my server gets this error "Failed to verify username, session authentication server unavailable!" and I dont know what to do any more I have ran a server for years and never had this much of a problem before

its a clean install of the server(just .bat and craftbukkit.jar), clean java install, clean minecraft client install(premium), port is forwarded, ip is static.

all of my friends with premium are trying to connect they can see the server it says its online and running but when they try to connect"Failed to verify username, session authentication server unavailable!"

tried to trouble shoot by using offline mode but your new bukkit build wont let you use offline mode it just changes the properties file back to online mode true at startup witch is dumb

now I know what your going to say (holds nose to mock)"we dont support offline mode" but you should at least at a basic level only for trouble shooting purposes there is just no good reason not to. I understand you dont want people asking for help with plugins in offline mode or requesting plugins for it. but just out right refusing to help people trying to use it for trouble shooting is outrageous.

any answers or help would be great thank you.

If it says session authentication server unavailable, then perhaps your firewall is blocking it?

Win firewall is off, router firewall is off, mse reall time protection is off(anti virus), port checker says port is open exepting ping and caan see the servic runing on the port and static ip is set.

Literaly the only thin I changed since the server was runing is dl the latest bukkit and now this is happening I REALLY wish I could run it in offline mode to see if it is somehow the mc auth server being blocked by java o the bukkit build

Nothing wrong with the Bukkit builds.

It could be a routing issue between your server and the minecraft auth servers. It could be a firewall issue, DNS lookup failure, or a number of different networking issues.

idk if i missed something but this isnt my first time running an mc server by far.
1st problem I had was updating java and bukkit 1.3.2 r3.0 stable release then my server stopped running
so i uninstalled java and did a clean java install still nothing
then I figured must be the build, asked a friend and he said yup that build is not working for my server ether use the latest beta build so i tried 1.4.2-R0.1 (Build #2430) clean now the server is connecting to the internet and its showing up for other people unlike with the latest stable but they still get this error when trying to connect

any Ideas would be awsome I dont have hours to spend trying to get my server back up so i may have to give up on bukkit and running plugins if i cant figure this out soon

Im in the same situation of you Drunk_SOB. The only difference is my server is hosted on a dedicated server in a data center with nice connxion. Alost 4 days it's like this. The only way i was able to log in on my server was to put it in offline mod but i dont want to put my server offline mode and let more hacker able to play. I did a fresh reinstall too and i still having the error message.

Alot of people say we have to wait until the mojang server to be fix .... but why i can connect on differant server but note mine .... i dont think it comming from mojang server like the error saying ... it must be something else but what !!!!!

I had a problem with my server, very similar in nature. Basically, my dns in my /etc/resolv.conf was pointing to servers that were having issues responding in a timely manner. I switched them to Google's DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) and everything ran smooth as silk again.

thank you tnt Ill look into this with my isp this shouldnt be a problem im paying for 100mb up 30mb down from charter.

but In the mean time I would REALLY like to know how to get the beta build to run in offline mode because every time I start the server it reverts back to "online mode=true" if any one can tell me how to do this i will love you

ok checked the dns with my isp it was working fine changed it to google any way still no go pingdom.com says the dns is working fine. I would REALLY REALLY like to be able to run this server in offline mode and just get back to my life now so if any one can tell me how to make the new bukkit run in offline mode with out it putting it back to "online mode=true" i will get on my knees and make you a sandwich

Hey Drunk_sob if you want to turn off online mode, i recommend getting the BukkitGUI project , it will load everything, even allow for you to have complete control over your server. Just go to the server options once you have everything setup, and change the online mode. it won't change it like bukkit likes to.
