Update (Oct 27 @ 10:24 PM EST): We've just pushed out our first CraftBukkit for Minecraft 1.4.2 development build, see this post for more information.

    --------------------------

With the Minecraft 1.4 release date fast approaching, a lot of people are wondering when we will be releasing a CraftBukkit Recommended Build for Minecraft 1.4. We hope this short announcement will answer those questions.

Due to the rapid release of preview builds for the impending 1.4 update, we are unable to guarantee that we'll have a compatible CraftBukkit Recommended Build out in time for the release of Minecraft 1.4.2. Although we started working on the update immediately after the Minecraft 1.4 preview was made available to the public, each new preview build leads to delays in our update process as we, essentially, need to start over with each one.

In the past releasing a Recommended Build has caused apparent confusion within the community, as a result for this release, and moving forward, we will follow the "Dev -> Beta -> Recommended Build" release methodology. We are going to release a Beta build as soon as we can get a stable build devoid of any significant bugs.

As we have done a significant amount of important work on CraftBukkit 1.3.2 builds, we have promoted a new Recommended Build recently. This was done so that people have a reliable, stable build to use until we can get a 1.4 compatible build out and so that everyone who relies on Recommended Builds are able to take advantage of all the fixes, improvements and so on we've done since the last 1.3.2 RB.

Thank you for your patience, understanding and continued support; we greatly appreciate it!

I hope you can get it done soon? I am getting a lot of complaints from my users as they accidentally updated their Minecraft to 1.4.2 so they can't play till the CraftBukkit build is released.

No not yet, however it took like 4-5 days if i remember to do the 1.3 updated so they must be getting close and on 1.3 alot of things got changed mainly being the way everything was written as it was all improved which was a reason alot of plugins went down when 1.3 got released.

what is the actual reason that bukkit and mojang are not working together, seeing as most people playing Minecraft play on bukkit servers??

just copy code from the vanilla server
and use the old code for plugins and that

Because if they did, Mojang would have to pay Bukkit, which then results in Mojang losing money, as they are paying some people, which means they would then (maybe) start charging for the use of Bukkit

It's death-ban so no doubt I'll be the first to get banned tonight when we play it. I'm better at coding than playing lol

i don't see why they need to pay bukkit, just give them the code early so the can have it ready when the update comes out. btw this is how it spell checks bukkit-kabuki

Those are the pre-releases, which get changed almost everyday so there is no point :/

Well, they can't go 'Your employed' and not pay them, taking the piss isn't it? And they do get the code early, but it doesen't make a difference, as they got the pre-releases, and started work on it, but when the new version came out, which was almost 2 days later, Mojang isn't going to wait for Bukkit to be ready, as they will lose money, they will release it, and after every release, there code is re obfuscated, which means that instead of it last time being cC.eC for creeper.Explode, it changes to something like Br.eN, which they then need to completley recode, and find out what each thing does

While it is a bit disappointing that the native Minecraft Launcher does not support this ability, the good thing is that a programmer has stepped up to the plate and created a utility that allows one to do exactly what has been asked for. In fact, this program, known as MultiMC, which can be found here, allows one to downgrade all the way to alpha, has the ability to pull up a snapshot version, and more. There are settings to change the window size and how much ram is allocated, and there is even a mod installer.

But yah, I only use MultiMC. With it, I have a version of a 1.4, a modded 1.3, a clean 1.3, and a version of alpha (for the hell of it).

It will be done when it is ready, demanding for it to be done by tommorow will not make it be done by tommorow, there are loads of other people in your postition, with even bigger servers, and they just wait, patiently...

It will be out when they have finished it, and it is ready.

sigh every time there is a release, there are a bunch of these threads.. either we get a new batch of morons each time, or people can't seem to remember. It will be done when it is done, because they have to re-decode the program, THEN they have to make the actual changes. Then they have to test it.

actually, the best advice I saw for server owners was several releases ago. Copy your world, bring it up in vanilla as current release, and give everyone infinite TNT.. GO NUTS

once bukkit updates, restore the world and carry on as usual

    until then.. STOP WHINING

    :)

Tell them to shut up...You can't do anything to speed it up, why are they telling you to hurry up?

People without avatars shouldn't be able to post in this thread. If they can't figure out how to put one then there is no way they can figure out how to read. Just my opinion.

Ti's automated my dear. Read up.

What is the new protocol like?.. How does it differ from the old one? (I'm just throwing out random questions about things that I might find interesting)

If they have time to answer other questions, they should have time to answer mine.. I'm pretty sure they've somewhat divided their forces and put some on answering all the thousands of questions on the forums, and others on developing the new craftbukkit release.
