I won't port LogBlock myself to mcAPI. Source code is available, so it shouldn't be to difficult for someone else to do it, also I'm still here. so I can answer questions. If there is more than one willing, that's up to you to handle that.

The reasons I take this step, are the usual: I quit playing Minecraft about 5 months ago and lastly I was struggling to keep up with updates. The developement of Guardian made slow progress, so I fear it won't be ready to fully replace LB in time.

    Description:

LogBlock logs block changes into a MySQL database. Block changes can be placed or destroyed block, explosions, burned blocks, sign text changes, chest access, leaves decay etc.
It can be used as griefer identification tool, to find out who build a particular building, or even roll back changes by certain players. Other purposes can be e.g: Undoing of forest fires
All additional features are optional, to keep the database as short as possible. All database actions run in their own threads to avoid server lags.
The use of permissions plugin (or any clone) is possible, but not necessary.
Uses Spout for chest logging (but it's fully optional, and there is no need for the client mod at all).

    Features:
    • Logging for block placing, block braking, fire, explosions, leaves decay, signtexts, lava flow and chest content
    • Very mighty commands system, not only allowing to rollback and redo, but also to tp to blockchanges, delete log ingame etc. Full list of commands.
    • Many parameters for lookup/rollback/redo/tp/clearlog commands: Block changes of one ore more player, in a specific area, in a world edit selection, specific block types only, block changes older or newer that a specific date, destroyed/created block only, in a different world and combinations of all these parameters. Full list of parameters.
    • Rebuilding map after importing a backup (/lb redo)
    • Last parameter to use the parameters of the last command
    • Quick ingame lookup of block history a wood pickaxe or a bedrock block.
    • All commands accessible from console (exept tools :D)
    • Custom queries for tools.
    • Different tool modes (lookup, rollback, redo, writelogfile and clearlog)
    • Saves block data like wool color, log type, torch adjustment, etc
    • Multiworld and multiserver support (some servers sharing the same database)
    • BigBrother log import
    • Loggable super pickaxe plugin (not to confuse with WorldEdit's super pickaxe)
    • API
    • Webstats
    Why to use LogBlock:

Example commands: (thanks to tha d0ctor, read more about commands here)

/lb rollback player fire since 1d3h – rolls back fire 1 day 3 hours
/lb rollback player fire since 1d3h area 15 – rolls back fire 1 day 3 hours within a radius of 15 blocks

    /lb rollback player thad0ctor since 1h - rolls back thad0ctor 1 hour
/lb rollback player thad0ctor since 1d area 5 – rolls back thad0ctor actions for the last day within 5 blocks
/lb rollback area 10 since 1h30m - rolls back all modifications within 10 blocks since the list 1 hours and 30 mins
/lb rollback area 10 before 06.11.2011 - roll back all changes in an area of 1o before June 11th, 2011
/lb rollback player thad0ctor since 05:36:00 - roll back all changes of thad0ctor since 05:36 (server time)

    How to post error messages:

I won't aswer questions to general MySQL setup/installation/what is MySQL (there are lots of good tutorials out there, use google)
Please read the installation guide before asking a question about installation problems.
Please read the FAQ before posting a error report. It may be solved there.
In case of rollback or lookup problems: Type /lb savequeue and try again (when it's fixed then, it was a consumer problem, see FAQ)
When you post error messages, it's important to paste the whole stack trace!

Thats perfect! Is it stored as a .log file in the logblock folder? I think it's ideal location would be LogBlock/logs. Is it in 0.9 or do I have to wait for the next version?

So with 0.9 and new tables (self maked from the plugin at server start) works the history again... I hope it stays that way

I try to avoid sql table updates, but sometimes it necessary
Hm, LogBlock/logs sounds better then direct in the logblock folder. No, it's not in v0.9, it still needs a bit of testing.
To sum this up: You are using mamp and logblock, and lb fails to connect either with a wrong port or it just times out. Can you connect to the server via php my admin or the mysql workbench?

  6. Offline

    ManBearWaffle

I have a suggestion. Can you reverse the order of the logs displayed? For instance, if I check a chest to see who opened it, the newest action is on top. If theres a lot of actions, I can't see the newest one at all.

  7. Offline

    DiddiZ

Hm, that's bad. I better add there a limit.

  8. Offline

    monotonehell

I was thinking about if bad things happen. Do I have this correct?

I make daily backups of my entire /world. The reason is in case of catastrophic corruption I can replace the dead map with a backup, so we 'd lose a day's building at most.

Now with LogBlock installed, the rollback history would not agree with the backup.

If this happened (I hope it does not) would I need to run a sql query over the data base to remove any records newer than the date & time of the backup? Would that work?

  9. Offline

    AFakeman

    Yes.

  10. Offline

    DiddiZ

    Yes, it should.
    Code:
    DELETE * FROM `lb-main` WHERE date > '2011-03-17 15:00:00'
When you have keepLogDays enabled (at least set to 9999 days), LB will delete all non referenced entries in the -chest and -sign tables.

Do yor mysql server has tcp enabled?

    running version 0.6 of logblock.

Is there any special method to upgrading to a newer version or do i simply drop the new logblock.jar in and run the server?

You have to run both sql table updates from vo.7 and v0.7b, located in the download section
Hm, for some reason, the block lb wants to rollback isn't available. I'll check if unloaded chunks can cause this behavoir.

    Released v0.9b
    Adden log file generation
    Fixed rollbacks (hope so)
Tested with a 70k blocks rollback and it ran without problems on my local test server. Try to relieve the server during large (25k+) rollbacks, kick players or something.

Maybe there was not more? I guess you tried to rollback the same player the whole time.
Undid 745 means that exacly 745 blocks were found like in the log. If someone else paced something else there, or it was alredy rolled back, it doesn't count a a rolled back block.
Also noticed, that sometimes even when the server crashes, the rollback finishes.

How can I rollback everything a player did? He was banned the other day for griefing, so I want to completely rollback any damage he caused that I may have missed. I tried /lb rollback player playernamehere 99999 days and it just said that there were 0 changes and it doesn't fix anything.

Yes it is the same user i`m trying to rollback.
It says random undid numbers all the time. And all blocks he placed around is still there.
