Rating plugins

Recently, I have noticed that there are a TON of not very high quality plugins on bukkitdev. My idea is a rating system, like upvoting on reddit, to rank the plugins. People could upvote plugins they like and downvote plugins they dont like. Then you would be able to sort by reputation.
At least, something along the lines of that. That way, I can choose a good quality, awesome plugin from the sea of bukkitdev.

 

There's some kind of "Like" system already implemented but I nor anyone else knows how to use it, I think. So maybe just make that more obvious and the rankings would be better.

 

Hmm.. I think this "like" system based on downloads. But download counter a not show us a plugin popularity. I think that system must show us a real plugin number installed on servers. Like Metrics. And I think bukkit must include same statistic options. I created a suggestion about adding same system to bukkit, but it was declined.

Err... WorldEdit most definately does not have 22 downloads, so no.

h31ix Oh... You're right. However, I think that calculation of active installations will reflect the real popularity. And I still think the best solution is integrating Metrics with craftbukkit (or creating alternative system)

 

I agree. There is too much room for abuse with a upvote/downvote system everyone uses, amount of servers using the plugin is a much better idea.
