I hope Bukkit is faster this time..

Ok so we all know that Minecraft is already releasing snapshots for 1.4!!!
Not the point... Waiting for 1.3 from Bukkit was.. painful..
They had 6 months to do it so while waiting for the update from bukkit this time when it comes around I hope they are faster and dont make people wait so much..

And before you all jump on my ass this is a professional rant just sharing my thoughts..
EvilSteph even admitted he gets paid by MC so dont say that they all volunteer
and I am not a child for doing this, no? If your going to start to pick a fight Im not much of a child am I?

 

bukkit doesnt update to snapshots. too messy, too buggy, and requires rewriting every week. wait for the release.

 

I know but Im saying that they are working on the release so when it does come out we dont have to wait 2 weeks again

 

thats already being done. bukkit starts to work on it when prerelease is up, 1 week before release, usually

 

When they are coding Bukkit for a new version it isn't as simple as just taking the last snapshot and adding a little more code, vast portions need to be done from scratch. If you thought of versions of Bukkit like a house they can't just add a few bricks to add a new room they have to build a whole new house for every version. Seeing as it takes weeks to make a new version and very little is reusable between versions there isn't much point of supporting every snapshot and incremental change as they would code for weeks to then have to drop what they were doing and start over. Even if they made versions of Bukkit for snapshots and such who would use them?

Let me enlighten you. Amaranth, Wolvereness and feildmaster do the lion share of the work now.
As for "6 months to work on it" that's just... not true. The snapshots may change drastically from week to week. It would eliminate our ability to work on the existing 1.3.x code if we tried to constantly update to the snapshots.

When the pre-releases come out, work begins to update CraftBukkit to those builds. However, it should be noted that 1.3.x was the largest update CraftBukkit has ever had to go through. Still, we had dev builds available for public release within a day of 1.3 getting officially released. That's fantastic, considering the work done.

 

I'm not sure how the bukkit staff are staying so calm when retards like him complain about slow updates.

Landoncm99, if you don't like the rate of progress, code it yourself. Don't leech off someone else and complain about slow updates. You sir, need to get off these forums, and perhaps even get off the internet. That's like moving into a homeless shelter because you can't build/buy your own house, but then complaining that they don't have someone fixing everything wrong with the building immediately.
