Minecraft nickname help!!! Please help!!!

My server for some reason it allows people to do /nick (name) but when they type in chat it doesn't appear in the chat. But when i type /list i can see their nickname because it has the ~ in front of it. Can someone tell me how to enable people to use nickname in chat please? Im starting to think that PEX is not letting people use nick name in chat because i previously had group manager and the nicknames work. But when i moved to PEX the nicknames don't work. Someone pls help.

 

/nick is an essentials command. do you use chatmanager? make sure it supports displayname.

 

Ummm i use chatmanager and i use PEX not groupmanager. Also in the Chatmanager config theres no displayname: true or anything like that. And also people are able to do /nick. Its just that when they type their name isn't their nickname.

 

chatmanager cant support essentials /nick, then, if it cant use displayname.

 

How do i use displayname. is that a plugin. Lol sorry im a noob :/

Ok so what i did is i went into plugins, Chatmanger, Config and this is whats in the config
enable: true
message-format: <%prefix%player%suffix> %message
global-message-format: <%prefix%player%suffix> &e%message
ranged-mode: false
chat-range: 100.0

 

player? doesnt seem it supports nick then. try using essentialschat if you have essentials, instead

 

i use essentials. but do you think you can give me a download link to essentials chat pls?

 

its in the main download link when you download essentials. you might already have essentialschat.jar

 

One of my friend told me to delete essentialschat.jar because it kept spamming stuff in my console.

 

what did it spammed in your console? try put in essentialschat.jar again, and paste the error.

 

He was saying how bukkit moved to a new type of coding but then changed back without telling the plugin makers.
But if i do put the essentialschat.jar in do i have to remove chatmanager?

 

chatmanager will override essentialschat. also, on 1.3.1 bukkit has changed the chat event, which would mean old chat plugins will display a small warning message about it. but essentials updated long ago to 1.3.1, use 2.9.3 and youd get no error about it.
