A new CraftBukkit Recommended Build (1.3.1-R1.0) that provides Minecraft 1.3.1 compatibility is now available.

Important information about this first Recommended Build following a Minecraft update:
The first Recommended Build, as always, is a slightly more polished development build that we're promoting to a Recommended Build so that people who rely on a Recommended Build being available can try out our development builds and decide if they want to use them.

Will plugins break with this build?
Provided the developers of the plugins you are using are keeping up with the development of Bukkit, all your plugins should work fine.

    Download CraftBukkit 1.3.1-R1.0 here

I am not sure if this is a Bukkit or plugin issue as I have tried to delete my plugins and test it. For some reason when I kill chickens or skeletons and they drop their feather/bones/Gunpowder it gives me a huge amount.

Still getting random TPS drops here and there, usually only drops by 1 TPS, but the lag when it does is still felt. It's still ALOT better than earlier builds.

That was what I was waiting for, a proper explanation. I have indeed checked the latest builds and I saw it allowed you to change speed server wise. This is great! Thanks for finally giving us a proper fix and explanation on the issue!

Craftbukkit 1.3.1 causes server crashes (RB and Developer builds). Every half an hour to 45 minutes the server reboots (in the console it shows there's been a ping timeout). The windows ping command shows that the moment the server reboots, there's a package of 205ms instead of the regular 20-40ms.

I'm now forced to run Minecraft without plugins.

ok, my server just started not loading chunks, really weird....
no errors in the console whatsoever, and a single restart fixed it.
I have been using the same plugins, changed nothing, and this just happend.
plugins are all confirmed working with no errors.

are all your plugins working? If I were you, I would test the server with adding 1 plugin a time, you will find out what plugin messes up, plus what OS is your server on?(just curious)

It's not the plugins. I've ran it without any plugins, still happened. Vanilla minecraft doesn't cause any problems, only when I run the craftbukkit jar this starts happening. According to my hosting I'm not the only customer with this problem.

ahhh ok, I seem to be unable to find what os it runs, you as a customer can tell me, I think a linux host right?
but are you using oracle/sun(I never know what company it is) java?
and you are sure all the settings are correct?

Its actually quite ridiculous, with or without Bukkit. I shut down a server last night because of lag issues.

With a 4000 block radius world (8k diameter) pregenerated, 60 people online basically ground it to a stand still. People could not eat, could not kill animals, couldnt do much of anything. Load the same world up on 1.2.5 and it runs just fine.

This is a 16 core machine running on 64 gigs of RAM with SSD drives, Ubuntu Server 12.04 for the OS and a dedicated 100 Mbps connection.

Just a few hours ago I loaded a fresh world, PermissionsEx and WorldBorder, generated a new world out to 3000k radius and opened it up to my players. As I type this there are 22 players online, and every minute or so there is a slight pause/lag and then its back to normal.

Running this world from a RAM drive does help a bit, but not that much. After all its running on SSD already.

Some other things I have noticed, is that both bandwidth and CPU use are way up. I can provide graphs both current and historical on this. CPU use with 20-25 players is about 20%, I used to run that much with 50 players on. And bandwidth spiked up to nearly 20 Mbps last night with 60 players on. Once they pulled the initial chunks it settled down, at about 6 Mbps vs the normal 3-4 Mbps.

I update my server by switching the .jar files right? Then do I need to update my world separately too?

So... Do you all intend on multi-threading bukkit? It's kind of stupid for the server to be trying to process the entire world, and player interactions on only one thread...

Been 2 whole days man. Wheres a dev build when we need one :(. I hope it has a fix to the memory leak in it when it does finally come out.

Still laggy for me on bukkit #2317 barely unplayable,
Not as much as vanilla but laggy too.

Get a lot of : [WARNING] Can't keep up! Did the system time change, or is the server overloaded? Every 5 seconds.
    One thread is always 100%

I'm running a 30 slots server on Debian, specs :
    Xeon L3426 (4 cores, 8 thread)
    16 gb of Ram
    1 Gbps connection

The parameters for launching the server :
    Code:
    java -server -Xms8000M -Xmx8000M -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -XX:+UseParNewGC -XX:+CMSIncrementalPacing -XX:ParallelGCThreads=7 -XX:+AggressiveOpts
Waiting for new bukkit version to use it.
Thanks for your hard work !

Bukkit seems to be running terribly on the server I'm on. Horrible lag problems. Any hope for a fix?

Everyone needs to be patient, you can't just fix these things overnight and there seems to be a lot of different factors playing into the lag problems (Bukkit itself, plugins, RAM/CPU abilities, etc.).

Also it's the weekend... give them some slack! Go back to 1.2.5 and tell your users it's for their own benefit if they want a stable server to play on. That's why 1.2.5-R5 was released anyways, for admins to use who knew it'd take time to get a stable 1.3 build. If your players really like your server, I think the majority of them would understand (if you helped them of course) downgrading to 1.2.5 to play on the server. A lot of my players are still on 1.2.5 just for my server. Really, there isn't many benefits to 1.3.1 (although of course you want to update to it when it's stable) to justify updating to it right now for a poor performance on your server and angry/frustrated users.

If you run the plugin AntiCheat, try removing it and see if it solves any problems with lag? I removed it last night as a hunch (Some of AntiCheat's features aren't working correctly anyway) and the TPS dips stopped.

The TPS still drops slightly before and after world saving, but I haven't noticed any lag nearly as bad as when I had AntiCheat installed.

Update to the newest dev build. I was experiencing such severe lag spikes that it got to the point that the server crashed. I just updated to the latest dev build and it hasn't displayed any server overloaded messages since, staying at exactly 20 tps.
