I just created a server on 64 bit windows using craftbukkit-1.3.1-R0.1-20120803.000456-6. I'm running Java version 1.7 and not using any wrappers and haven't installed any plugins. I am able to log in as local host but unable to log in via my external ip. My ip is static and my port is forwarded correctly since my vanilla server works just fine. I tried using the recommended build 1.2.5-R5.0 but I am still having the same issue. Java is allowed through my firewall but I'm not sure what else to check. My server-ip is also blank. One weird thing is that when running my vanilla server canyouseeme.org responds with the port forwarded but it times out when trying this with the bukkit server. What else can I try? Thanks.
if you want to run more than one server off the same computer, you cant both servers will be trying to use the same ports and what not and it will not work, only one can be up at a time.
rewpew u never can connect with your external ip, only people who arent in your network can connect through external ip. You only connect to your server either with localhost or your internal ip address
I'm not trying to run both at the same time. I was just referencing that my vanilla server is working correctly so my ip address and my port forwarding aren't the issue. Also, it is my friend trying to connect with the external ip. He can connect to my vanilla server when it is up but has not been able to connect to the bukkit server when I have that up.
that is not true what so ever. anytime i connect to a server that is currently running off my computer, whether it is for testing or a temp location, i always use my external ip followed by :25565.
False. You can use external IP. Localhost, 127.0.0.1, ...1 (sometimes. depends on your host file in windows), or your local intranet address.
you have no idea what your saying because that's one of the many ways to connect to your server and i help many set up their own servers. sorry to burst yo bubble
hahah my bad. i posted this on someone's thread who had a port forwarding question...make sure you did the following:
@athnonyc39 my bubble aint burst because my cousin owns a webhosting company and i manage it so i think i no what im talking about. you join with your INTERNAL ip and other join with EXTERNAL cray_Z ImminentFate
hahaha i didn't mean to sound like a complete jack a*s, i was just tired XD but it works fine for me, and i know what i am doing. so it either works and i use it or it doesnt and a combination of random numbers works for me...
jacklin213 I can connect with my external ip, my webhosted ip, localhost, and 127.0.0.1 ...Whatever lol rewpew Do you have a windows security program such as McAfee?
