With the Minecraft 1.3 release date fast approaching, a lot of people are wondering when we will be releasing a CraftBukkit Recommended Build for Minecraft 1.3. We hope this short announcement will answer those questions.

Due to the size of the impending 1.3 update, we are unable to guarantee that we'll have a compatible CraftBukkit Recommended Build out in time for the release of Minecraft 1.3. Although we started working on the update immediately after the Minecraft 1.3 preview was made available to the public, a lot of things were added, removed and changed in Minecraft from 1.2.5 and, as such, this update requires more work than usual to get things up and running. That being said, we'll continue to do our best to get an update out within a reasonable amount of time and will likely follow our usual policy of promoting the first Recommended Build the moment we get something that compiles and runs without any testing done whatsoever.

As we have done a significant amount of important work on CraftBukkit 1.2.5 builds since our last RB, we'll be promoting a new Recommended Build shortly. This is done so that people have a reliable, stable build to use until we can get a 1.3 compatible build out and so that everyone who relies on Recommended Builds are able to take advantage of all the fixes, improvements and so on we've done since the last 1.2.5 RB.

Thank you for your patience, understanding and continued support; we greatly appreciate it!

Advertising your server (or advertising the need for help for your server) does not belong on this thread. Asking when 1.3 will be released is likely to be deleted as well.

The team is working hard to bring an update, and will not hold it back once we have one. Until then, patience.

If you read any, any of the prior responses from the bukkitdev staff on this topic, you would understand what we are waiting on. You completely missed every point of what I said, every single point.
I recommend you attempt it again, reading is only half the skill, comprehending what you have read is the other half.

The fact of the matter is - they are working on it as well/hard/fast as they possibly can. The devs have been working non-stop since the patch was made available. That should be enough for you, and you should be grateful for it.

Attacking me is wasting your time, you aren't going to upset me, and I'm not going to respond to it, or encourage it. That kind of behavior is welcome elsewhere, perhaps on your server?

If you volunteer at a soup kitchen, you show up, and you are working as hard and as fast as you possibly, humanly can, do the people you are trying to help have the inherent right to yell at you to work harder and faster?
When you are giving it all you have to give, is the proper response for these ungrateful people to yell and belittle?

If having basic comprehension skills, and the power of observation makes me a lackey, sign me up.

I am really concerned about enderchests.. since we use a multiworld system and have both creative, pvp, and survival on the same server.. Wouldn't want somebody filling an enderchest with diamond blocks in creative, then going on over to the pvp or survival worlds...

Don't undermine the work of the ACTUAL Bukkit team working to release a SAFE version by even implying that some twit on the net has something that even the Dev's don't.

Be safe, stay away from anything that isn't hosted or posted from Bukkit/Mojang themselves, it is that simple.

Otherwise you aid in spreading the filth that only serves to drive us and the developers mad.

That'd be taken as indirect advertisement. But, even so it's not really the right place to be asking questions like that :)
You'd have far more luck making your own thread in the support forums or even on somewhere like PlanetMinecraft where they have dedicated "Help needed" sections (I think)

i might just make a schematic or two lol.
does this mean world wipes are essential or just prefered because of the new objects in the seed?
like my setup is pretty complex, if i can get away with just regening areas not in the spawn that would be handy.

Either blacklist that item from the server, or consider options to not need separate inventory. I know it may not fit how you want to be set up but it may be the best option until a plugin is made that addresses that.

Use worldguard to blacklist it from the creative world/pvp worlds.

I think that Worldguard will address that issue with their item blacklist, hopefully it won't need an update, or if it does, maybe it won't be too long of a wait.

We use it to block lava griefing in the creative world, so it shouldn't be tough to add another ID to the config.

You can use essentials to blacklist items as well, though it's far less configurable by comparison of WorldGuard.
WorldGuard allows you to set per-world blacklists, whereas Essentials seems to be per server.

We faced the same decision. With quite a few complex towns/regions and whatnot we had to look at what 1.3 really did. When we determined that the addition of Villager Trading, Sand Pyramids, Jungle Temples, Traps, Larger Biomes, Higher world features generated, Emerald Ore in the ground and so much more....

It was simply a matter of realizing how much more work to try and "recover" then it was to "reset".

I have seen the MineCraft universe respond rather well to resets as it gives them a chance to start anew , try things over again with better designs, and implement all the new features that are available.

So do people generally just use multiverse to render a new map with the new features and have players willingly move over to the new map or what? I'm new to this whole server update fiasco

Did exactly that for 1.1 to 1.2. Worked ok for the most part but it does cause a lot of confusion.

That is a question that you could really only answer yourself. What are your pros/cons of doing so? How comfortable are you with Multiverse? Is it better to just run a clean 1.3 and not worry about any carry over world gen bugs or holes etc....

(I'm being awfully chatty today, sorry)

Fully aware of that lil change, but I didn't see it as being so drastic that it would undermine the entire work that had been started, if in fact it had been started on the pre-release.

This is why I asked the devs. I am just curious as to when they started, and if there wasn't initial work started on pre-release, is the pre just for benefit of testing from a players perspective?

I was just thinking from the past posts over the last few months that pre-release meant a sense of "pre-get-ready" for bukkit as well.

Edit: By "getting started" I mean with this current build. I am very aware that the team is CONSTANTLY working on this :) Thank you guys.
