Pickaxe + Looting from EnchantMore can do reverse crafting. Unfortunately it only works on blocks placed in the world since the pickaxe needs something to mine (I've tested it with pistons and dyed wool). If all you want to do is craft a gold helmet into gold bars (and other items), that's easy, and can be accomplished by adding custom crafting recipes using any recipe manager plugin. (There is a plugin that does this for many items but I can't recall it off hand.) But won't that be exploitable, since you could simply reverse craft a heavily damaged armor or tool, then recraft it into pristine condition? Another option is adding custom furnace recipes. Also found Dismantler, which uses dispensers to reverse craft. edit: are you sure CraftBack doesn't work with 1.2.5? All it does is add custom crafting recipes right? I wouldn't expect it to break from 1.1 to 1.2..
So do the other reverse crafting plugins meet your needs? I'm thinking about making a new one.. though it'll probably work slightly differently than the alternatives.
