    Ah. Well, if you are going to host a server, you really need to learn permissions or things can get ugly....real fast.

    Even if it were just all friends on a LAN party, it is still a good thing to setup permissions. Why? Well, you might want to let your friends define a chest that only they can open up...to keep others from thieving....those tricksie hobbit'es.

    In the link I gave, I have all those permissions laid out for each of those plugins which will work in bPermissions without doing anything else other than copy/paste.

    It becomes easier once you get the hierarchy down and understand the spacing rules (YAML formatting...that parser I link to in the bPermissions is VERY helpful with this).

    To start a server you better get good at it. :p

    - Step 1: Notepad++

    I have and love Notepad++ but found it tedious to correct the tabs it inserts. I use plain 'ol Notepad that comes with Windows when messing with YAML files. When on Ubuntu, I use vi. :)

    I thought there used to be a way in Notepad++ to configure how tab works (such as using a certain number of spaces instead of an actual tab character)...but when I tried looking for it (due to YAML files), I could not find a way to modify it.

    EDIT #1: DoH! Re-looking at preferences, I found it. Tools --> Preferences --> Language Menu/Tab Settings --> yaml. However, it still uses the tab character. AARRRRGGG. Doesn't even work right when language is set to YAML. AAAARRRRGGGG. I'm sticking with plain 'ol Notepad for YAML

    EDIT #2: Ok, I figured out that when setting tab to YAML, you need to also uncheck "Use default value" and set tab size to 4 and enable "Replace by space" :p

    In Notepad++.. -> Settings (Up at the top) -> Preferences -> Language Menu/Tab Settings -> check off
    "Replace by space"

    Essentials and GroupManager is good for beginning with permissions and such.

    I have seen ptweaks mentioned before but failed to look into it. I'm glad I did now!

    Loyalty EXP sounded interesting but I didn't like it. However, it led me to find LoyaltyPoints which looks great.

    Machinacraft? Dang that looks cool. It didn't at 1st but after looking into each machine's page...wow. Looks like a must-have for my server. I'm thinking about only showing my members the required materials and letting everyone figure out how to make them.

    I already have and recommend TreeAssist...great addition.

    I don't like how rain/weather can last for days in vanilla Minecraft but I did not want to disable it completely either. Instead of NoRain, I use SeattleWeather to limit the maximum amount of time it can last (configurable).
