ok when i turn on my server I'm the only one who came go on it and wen my friends try to go on it they type the address correctly and it says can't reach server. i typed something on my terminal and it gave me the ip address on like my wifi or something and yea. i have a mac. the ip address is 192.168.0.192 PLEASE HELP IM REALLY DESPERATE
That's your internal IP. Your friends need to connect to your external IP. http://www.whatismyip.com/
ok so i did that and its 71.193.89.153 and so i put that on the server props. and then wen i started it it said maybe a server is already running on that port then wen i switched the sever props. back to 192.168.0.192 and my friend still can't connect it just says can't reach server when he's using 192 and 71 EDIT by Moderator: merged posts, please use the edit button instead of double posting.

Unless you have a server with dual-NICs or you're using Hamachi, you would leave your server-ip line blank in your server.properties file.
then way server ip would my friends use to get on i did and my friend just tried it and he couldn't get on ether 5.202.64.66:25565 or 192.168.0.192 or 71.193.89.153 EDIT by Moderator: merged posts, please use the edit button instead of double posting.
Your friends will ALWAYS use the external IP address. Whoa, where is 5.202.64.66 coming from? Have you forwarded the Minecraft port on your router? Did you verify on http://canyouseeme.org?
Okay, just mentioning something. I see your question never got answered on what rebooting is. Reboot=Restart. It turns the computer off, then back on. Pretty simple. Then with all this port forwarding, I have yet to see a forum that doesn't talk about it. However, it is almost always unnecessary. Unless you use a router for some corporation, the port shouldn't be blocked therefore having no need to open it. If you are using a router at your house, chances are you don't have to worry about it.
This is most assuredly not correct. All routers, even your standard, run-of-the-mill consumer plug-and-play Linksys, Netgear, Belkin, etc routers all ship with most, if not all, ports blocked by default. Otherwise, sites like http://www.portforward.com would not exist to show people how to open ports in their firewall.
