not sure if this is quite the right subforum for this, apologies if not but...

Assuming Jeb goes ahead with making MineCraft functionally peer to peer (in that any one can join anyone elses game/world on the fly), What does this mean for the bukkit servers? will they be obsoleted? What about all the plugins already existing, will they be lost?

Bad questions based on incorrect assumptions get bad answers.

I can't imagine there's much overlap between current Bukkit admins and users who want super simple click-and-go servers to share with their friends. They seem like two entirely distinct audiences. I don't think that'll have much impact on Bukkit.

What may have a greater impact, though, is the built in server mod API. That is essentially replacing Bukkit entirely, so what happens after that is still unknown. It doesn't seem disastrous though. My feeling is most folks will simply move over to the new system and life will go on. What happens to the Bukkit project itself, only time will tell. Either way, we'll still have Minecraft and plenty of brilliant developers and admins will still spend countless hours creating mods and running servers.

Bukkit will live. And if not, we're screwed. (or at least, I am)

The future of Bukkit? haha, ever played Gmod?
Bukkit will live forever as long as the source is right, the coding is ethical, and the community is great.

    Vhab,

If my information is incorrect, the correct response is to inform me where I was incorrect. cbt did this, thank you cbt.

My question was posed politely and understandably. Even if it was based on erroneous information that does not excuse sarcastic and frankly rude responses. We are not on the Chan/reddit boards here my friend.
