How to make custom blocks on the server?

    I'm seeing other plugins posted that have the ability to add new blocks from the server. such as RPG Essentials/Block-Items. Are there any samples of what objects/methods/events are being tapped into to create this? In the mentioned one, it sounds like the image for it is stored on the server, yet the client will pick it up.

    Basically, I'd like to add my own block types that the clients can see.
