I've been running #440 for a week now, thinking of updating. Which build would you recommend? Currently using Permissions 2.4 too.

Also, @Bukkit Team, please get more recommended builds. :p

#440 is the latest recommended build. You can update to the latest stable build (#485), but I'd expect many plugins to break.

Latest dev builds are not always stable, remember! I crashed a lot with #447 which is marked as stable.

And I know, I want a good mid-range where almost every plugin will work and that supports newer plugins too. I believe most will run on #440 too. :p

Also something i've noticed with the latest build.. I'm PROLLY overlooking some announcement about it.. but.. noone of the server console commands worked. Not stop, save-all nothing.
    With 480+.

I get that randomly on #440 and earlier too...

But for the plugins, what would be the most ideal update? Or stick with #440?

I am using CB 485 and it is working great for all plugins I use.

Good to hear, though #454+ will remove onCommand, breaks older plugins, right.

The reason what prevents me from updating beyond 441 is mainly iConomy which breaks terribly with later versions. However, the chunk loading in 480 was glorious, nearly instantly. But the no console commands working it certainly putting me off as well.

I'm sticking with 448 until the next recommended build. 449+ breaks a lot of plugins until the authors can get them updated.

I know, but the lack of new recommended builds... :p

Good to hear chunk code has been worked on, but console commands are a must too.

Also, as sidefact, I am not able to get iConomy (can't remember which versions) work anymore since I updated to #440 and Permissions 2.4. :( MySQL problems? Because I'm on MySQL with iConomy.

I suggest using iConomy 2.2 for the time being, still works on 440 and has actual money gen unlike 4.0.

@Orcworm : Good to hear, but does it support Permissions 2.4?
@sayton12 : And your plugin list is...?

EDIT: I can't find iConomy 2.2 anymore. :/ It only has 2.1 download. Oh well, better off to look for it.
    EDIT2: Found.
EDIT3: And works with Permissions 2.4, thanks.

*sigh* There is no pleasing anyone it seems. Some people want a new RB every week, some people want a new one every night, and yet others think a new RB every month is excessive. I'm not kidding, I've seen every single one of those requests.

Here's a secret - all builds are roughly the same stability. All the builds have bugs - what is stable to you won't be stable for someone else who is using different plugins that bring a bug to light. The recommended builds get chosen based on all the devs coming to a conclusion on which build is likely to work the best across all plugins.

All in all - if you want something stable that you can count on most plugins working nicely together - go for the latest RB. Consider any features or changes that came out after that RB as things to look forward to in the next RB.

Which build of bukkit corresponds with the recommended build of craftbukkit? I am working on a project with multiple developers and I want us all to be on the same page for testing. Recommended builds are a godsend for plugin developers by the way.

    Currently it is build 440.
If you look here, the builds with the green star are the recommended builds.

Actually what I was asking was, is there a corresponding bucket.jar that goes with the craftbukkit.jar. I do appreciate the reply though.

I push the ragged edge and nearly always update bukkit to latest release ASAP. If it breaks a plugin, I drop it and 'make do' until author updates. If he's 'left the building' I search for a replacement, or again 'make do' without it.
Luckily I run few plugins, by the gods of the house, they're all pretty much 'must haves' and are frequently updated;)
