make sure you have the essentials plugin for the signs and to make the sign just put a sign down and on the first line type [disposal]
if it turns blue, you did it correctly.
    Red means you didn't.
If it doesn't change color, then you either don't have permission to make that sign or you don't have the right plugin.

To use it, just right click it and drag in any items you don't want anymore and POOF! gone.

In the essentials config.yml, make sure that you have disposal signs turned on.

The vague-ness of this post is scary.. FXHNTR & bwinkl04 how the hell did you know Essentials?

Because Essentials is the only plugin (i could find) that does disposal signs. I don't use Essentials, but wanted this functionality, so I searched a ton. Ended up with DisposalChest which is close enough. Some programmer would be appreciated if they separated out just the disposal sign portion and released it as its own plugin.

since we're on the subject, this is something I don't understand. I've seen several requests for this sort of thing in the past. Why not just use lava or burning netherrack? Or just drop stuff in a hole and wait for a few minutes. What is the big need for a plugin to do what (seems to me) can be done in-game already?

    not sarcastic. Seriously curious.

    Sayshal frivolous? capricious? whimsical?

I'm seriously bad at guessing games.

hm. I actually enjoy hearing the items go "TSSSssss..." every time I drop another stack of cobblestone or seeds or whatever I already have a ton of into my incinerator. No workshop would be complete without one, IMO.

No, I wouldn't say laziness. I have certainly built plenty of incinerators. I happen to like the clean look of the disposal. I hate it when someone jumps to spawn and just drops everything they don't want and then as you pass by, you are picking up stacks of dirt. Just a preference thing I guess.

    That is a good
point. my solution: a plugin that kicks people (I dont mean from the game I mean similar to a commandbook /slap) everytime they drop XX amount of dirt.

If someone is inconsiderate enough to drop trash on a common path, will they use a DisposalSign?

Regardless, I've never had that problem. I suppose that's why I couldn't understand the need for the plugin.

By default shouldn't they be on?

What's the purpose of that when you could have easily placed said items in disposal sign?

Kicking them into the air is a lot more enjoyable. :)

That's as of 1.1 though. Prior to that, they weren't.

    Indeed it is.
