You see what we were just talking about? Maybe rename this thread (and your plugin title) to
"GuestPrev - Guest Grief Protection" so it doesn't sound like it blocks guests from joining.

Also, it would be nice if you could add an option to add custom colors to the notification text.

wouldnt it be easier if u test permission if build: true ?
and could u make a message, when a guest tries to destroy a block?

If you made it configurable if I wanted guests for example to be able to talk, I would use it! In other words so I can turn off What I don't need.

That was Just an example I was giving up there. I want to be able to enable buttons and pressure plates as parts of my SPawn area are based on it.

    EDIT: Wait....
    If I typed
    disablelever=false
Would it be ok for new players?

I'd really like to allow a tourist class of guest: prevent them from placing or breaking blocks, but allow them to interact with doors/levers/buttons/plates, use chests and items (since chests can be locked by the owner) and allow them to use minecarts/boats.

Can anyone tell me if this or another plugin headed toward that direction?

This looks great. Keep up the good work. I recently closed off my server to guests due to griefing. I may give this a shot and let people in to browse around again.

Does this prevent creepers from following/exploding on guests and taking out terrain/buildings?

Ok. The problem is Peter Plugin writer doesn't, so if you've got plugins a,b,c, d and e on your server, getting a set of them and craftbukkit to work together, and avoiding bugs is a pain.

I've already forked a couple of plugins myself today, for 1 line changes (and I noticed github has plenty of other folk doing exactly the same thing)

imo, there's little to recommend in old versions of craftbukkit. I'm sure that's just their little joke.

So, any chance of a source release on github so we can get it to work with craftbukkit ourselves?

It seems a shame to write yet-another-guestbook plugin when there are already 2 that (imo) have all the features they need (guestbook and guesprev) - as you say in your first post "for admins who just want a light weight protection system that works " - but they just need small changes to make them work.

First off, thanks for the great plugin!

Second, when I only downloaded the .jar file (wget in *Nix system). I couldn't get /guestprev and /gp commands to work in-game, because it was using the "prebuilt" one it was creating.
But when I switched the file with the one in the zip file, it all worked suddenly.

    No idea why..

I came up with a brilliant little game that guests have to play before getting build rights...
they have to read the spawn bulletin board and spam the chat with the secret answer to get build rights :)
Question: I'm lazy, if there was some sort of way to setup a custom command that a new player can use to add himself to the build list would be great! something like "/hotpotatoe" and then the chat would say "Congrats, you now have the right to build!"

do you know if this will work with 441 and factions plugin
tired of having to check apps and add people to the whitelist

factions has degriefing close to what this plugin does so i was just checking if they would conflict

What's your Permissions version? Just tested 2.4 and 2.5.1 and "without it" without any errors, maybe your bukkit version?
    --- merged: Mar 2, 2011 3:29 PM ---
I think it's never good to install 2 degriefing plugins on the same server. And "yes" for the #441.

I see plenty of people saying thanks to you for your fine plugin. Thanks for the nice plugin. There that is another one. Now stop feeling sorry for yourself and get working on making this excellent plugin work with later versions of CB and don't hide behind this recommended build nonsense.
