Okie dokie, so I just got started with my server and played with a few of my friends, then I found the RoyalCommands plugin and it was great, only thing that was NOT, was that every time my friend types any command, for example, /facepalm , it says they do not have permission to do that command, and since I got this RoyalCommands, when they login, their name is . Yep, their name is nothing, and they can't even set their name cause I suck with permissions So if anyone can help me get started with permissions, that would really help, a lot. A LOT. Free cake for the people who help me !
Hey, I wrote a gui for permissions if you'd like to give that a try? Or if you want to learn to use commands/edit files that's also fine. I wanna know how to get permissions in my server, but I have no idea how to. I really need help on how to set permissions, right now I have no clue how to do it. I don't even know what I'm supposed to put in the permissions.yml. Should I use bPermissions or PEX? What do you need help with? That looks like a poorly posted but ok groups.yml to me. There's a noob level tutorial to follow on the bPermissions page, I'll paste the link to help you out since you seem like you need it http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/bpermissions/pages/noob-level-99/
Sorry xD I did follow the level 99 noob tutorial but the thing I need help with is making permissions, I got the group.yml and users.yml, but I don't know how to set permissions, make groups, and put the players in the groups, I really don't know what to do with these two .yml files...
I want to find out how to do it myself, so if I ever encounter a problem I can do it again, it also makes me feel happy
No no, that's not what I meant, I mean I need help to figure out how to set up permissions. I don't really want to use a gui or something because it makes me feel accomplished. Install the plugin on your server, start the gui app (client) enter the username and password you configured with your ip (username@yourip ****) and just use the gui... What are you not getting?
So far this is where I am up to 1. downloaded bpermissions and the two gui .jar files thingies 2. put in plugin folder 3. got the files When you said start the gui app (client), is that the WebGUI_Client.jar
Have you TRIED opening that? Did it open and present you with a login interface to login to the plugin on your server? Chances are you're just expecting it to magically work without you even having to start a program, life doesn't work like that, sometimes you have to double click something. i know that's a lot of work.
Well I only tried once and an error came up, tried it again right now and it works. Sorry Password doesn't seem to be working :\ I did make my password and put in my password, but this comes up in the console I read the two latest comments on the bPermissions page on dev.bukkit and they seem to be having this BAD PASSWORD problem too :\ EDIT by Moderator: merged posts, please use the edit button instead of double posting.
Thanks, it works now, but I don't get what I do after I create groups and permissions, so I have all the commands, I made sure I could use all the permissions, since I was OP anyways, and my friends were in a group called Mod, and I gave them permissions too, but not all. So what do I do after that? Do I need to save the client thingy or does it save automatically? Cause I can't seem to find a save button xD I don't really know if this is working right now cause none of my friends are here to test it out for me. And one more thing I wanted to ask, what is meta? There is permissions/groups/meta. But I have no idea what meta is.
There's two buttons, one to download a snapshot of the permissions, and one to push that snapshot onto the server.
the "retrieve" button retrieves the snapshot the "update" button pushes the edited snapshot onto the server
Many thanks I think permissions should be working now, but my there seems to be a problem with my server and my friends can't join, could you give suggestions on what may be causing this?
