I'm getting together 3/4 old computers i've got lying around and setting up a small home server with a Pentium 4 3.2 processor and 3/4 ddr ram. I was thinking about using Ubuntu Server as OS but im kinda confused about using 64 or 32 bits. What are the main differences? I thought that only recent hardware ran 64 bits software but I read somewhere that someone around here is also running a server on an old computer and using the 64 bits version. Can someone give some tips/advices on how to achieve the best configuration possible out of old hardware? Thx for reading.
Recent - as in made in the last 5 years. Download an x64 Ubuntu CD and try to boot it off that - if it doesn't work, you don't have x64.
