    Hello,
KarnsEdge, the developer of ResidenceSigns, has been inactive for some time now.
Accordingly, ResidenceSigns is now inactive and incompatible with any bukkit builds after 1060.
Would anyone be interested in re-developing the plugin, or due to copyright restrictions, a plugin that emulates it?

Many other server owners are waiting for the re-development of the plugin.
    Additionally, financial compensation is possible.

    Thank you.

    @AndrewsPanda
Just in case someone is interested in developing the plugin.

Is anybody working on this? i really loved that plugin and then that bastard creator disappeared without a trace and didnt even have the decency to release the source so to keep it alive.

  5. I'm sorry... But @KarnEdge did his best to make a plugin for you all probably in his spare time and then you call him a bastard?

This is not the incentive for me to help you out at all!

if he wanted to help out he would have made an open source at the least before he gave it up. I apologize if i offended you but that's just how i feel.

He is by no means associated with me - I do not share @jazzman170 's feelings about @KarnsEdge .
By no means should any plugin dev EVER be insulted, or made less of, for discontinuing a plugin. I always promote the idea that our plugin devs should get more respect than they do, and this embodies that lack of respect. Too many people believe that these plugin dev's are indebted to them; it's the devs' jobs to make plugins for us. That mindsight really disgusts me.
I'm sure KarnsEdge had his reasons for vanishing, and furthermore, it's none of our business. He spent his free-time developing a fantastic plugin for the bukkit community, and therefore my only words to him would be "thanks." In no way does he have any obligation to release any of his source code, period.

@dadaemon If you were seriously considering re-writing the plugin, I strongly urge you to contact me via PM or email. Thank you.

He invested his time. You think he's not helping out just because he doesn't give out his hard earned source code? You expect everyone to give away everything? You obviously don't appreciate the effort and energy and spare time hundreds of people put in to making plugins for you to put on your server. Please leave the forums and stop using free plugins until you understand what it takes to make them. I certianly wouldn't want to be called a bastard just because I didn't give away source code that I wrote. Source code that I CHOSE not to give away. What if @KarnEdge decided just not to release the plugin in the first place because he didn't want to get harrased for not releasing his source? Would that be better? No, it would not.

I hope you understand your mistake, and next time you'll think again before insulting a plugin developer just because he/she didn't give away code.

  9. If I can find some spare time this weekend I will take a look. Escpecialy because it's an already written plugin maybe it's not that hard to recreate.

Ya well if somebody makes a plugin and then decides to just stop on it, the least they can do is mention it in that plugin that it will no longer be worked on nor will code be released. Thats not asking for much.

edit: anyways back on subject, i think i took it off subject long enough. As i said i apologize for offending anyone. I know that most if not all of the plug-ins are done for free and by free time of the devs. But it is just so aggravating when they stop dev on a plug-in and don't say that it wont any longer be worked on. I don't know about you guys but i don't like checking every day or week on a plug-in that mentions no such info of the dev no longer working on it. It would be nice to know so i can "give up" on that plug-in myself.

I agree that he could say something, but you called him a bastard. That's not necessary.

Indeed I have, and have made the base code for Residence Signs as well. It is modeled after version 0.2, because I feel that version had much more stability than 1.0 ever would have.

SQL is also out of the question, there is no need for it.

@AndrewsPanda : If you have any questions/comments, please reply here (to keep it from cluttering ChannelChat)

I do have a question about what you said on ChannelChat. Are you getting another developer to work on it? If so, I'd like to know who. I was actually planning on working on ResidenceSigns this weekend, though I've found myself a bit busier.
