    Permissions 3.0
Rcjrrcjr has been working quite hard on this upgrade to Permissions. However, it currently still suffers from a number of bugs. The most important of these which directly affects HeroChat is the non-functioning of prefixes and suffixes. There are less-than-pretty workarounds, but I'm refraining from fully supporting an update until Permissions 3.1 is released which should include a number of significant bug fixes. When this does occur, however, I have a build ready for you guys that should work. You can download it here. Again, I highly suggest not using this until Permissions 3.1 is released unless you really don't care about prefixes and such.

See you when I get back!

Is your config resetting when you make changes?
If you make changes to the config while the server is running, you need to use the /ch reload command to make the changes stick. I wish this message wasn't necessary, but people only seem to read things in big, bold, red text (if at all).

Have a problem? a feature request? Go here.
HeroChat now has its very own redmine found here. If you have an issue or would like to suggest a new feature, I urge you to file it via redmine. I will be checking this much more often than this thread from here on out.

    Where is it then?
    I want 5.0 >:
It works fine I guess in my server but I hate these annoying error messages in my Start files.

    HeroChat 5.0 is underway?
Well, thats great! Erm, how about informing people about when to expect something usable?
Everything is progressing around us. Minecraft, Bukkit, other Plugins, but we are left behind here without any perspective.
There is no plugin we could simply switch to, to replace the broken HeroChat functionality atm.
Abandoning HeroChat 3 completely to work on Version 5.0 is not the smartest idea, given the current situation of the server administrators. We had to upgrade to MC 1.8.1 lately, because the players demanded it.
We don't need new features right now, only a stable plugin. At least for Bukkit 1185.

I've been running Herochat 1-4 on my server without any errors for the past 10 months or so. We're accept pull requests to upkeep the code we are no longer actively working on.
Don't like a plugin? Don't use it.... or submit a pull req to fix it ;) You are lazy.
It's underway but not usable yet.
Herocraft is still on P3 and is very much working fine with 100+ players at peak hours. In either case, HC5.0 will be using BukkitPerms and have it split into multiple 'chat related' things

@Kainzo The biggest issue is that HeroChat is relying on the P3 API. This makes certain aspects completely incompatible with PEX. For example the issue I am having - HeroChat is only checking the primary group to see if a user is allowed in a channel. This is obviously going to fail when a user is in a group that isn't the primary one but is allowed to talk in a certain channel.

    For example:

    Code:
    users:

        Bob:

            group:

            - admin

            - builders
That is our user called Bob. He is an admin and is also allowed to be in the builder group. His primary group is admin. The builder group has it's own HeroChat channel just for builders. However here is the issue - Bob is not allowed to talk in the builder channel because HeroChat only checks to see if the user's primary group is in the channel group list. It needs to check ALL of the users group, not just the primary.

I saw your pull request - will this effect anything for p3 users?

  7. Offline

    oliverw92

Pull request? I have not made any pull requests

EDIT: Just had a look and seen the guys pull. No that won't break P3 users at all. Instead of just doing PermissionHandler.getPrimaryGroup he makes it do PermissionHandler.getGroups and then checks the user in all of them. I strongly suggest accepting that pull request

I use SimplePrefix, HeroChat, and PermissionsBukkit. The prefixes work fine for me -- my only complaint is that if a player's group changes mid-session you either have to issue an /spr reload command or have them relog to see the prefix changes. Send me a PM if you'd like samples of my config files or have any questions.

i have a problem being stuck in the alertsystem and it being my active ch. how do you change your active ch so you dont have to type /g everytime for global?

Actually we are still using HeroChat atm. But with PEX. When we updated to MC 1.8.1 and the new Bukkit version, we also implemented PEX instead of P3, because P3 is dying.
And even by having a Permissions 2.7.7 bridge in PEX, HeroChat does no longer support channels.
Only the global default channel can be used.
And it also seem like it's interfering with FalseBook, for some reason.
Currently it's only functionality is, having colored prefixes. Everything else is broken for us.
Is there a way to fix this, without falling back to P3 ?

    Nobody can use /ch command.
others like /qm channel msg work fine
    Using bPermissions
What can I do to bring back /ch ?

  13. Would it be possible to put this on BukkitDev? It's a lot easier when everything is in one place.

    It's probably a permission node.

you can switch to PermissionsBukkit -- then everything except prefixes will work! :D

  17. Offline

    codename_B

Or you can switch to bPermissions, in which case everything will work.

    Thanks.

    Thanks for the hint.
But... I would say, that it's way more economic for just 1 person to update a certain plugin to support todays common permission systems and at least the latest recommended Bukkit Ver., instead of asking a bunch of people with the same problem to switch their very fundamental permission system - which affects every plugin on a server.
Everyone who ever changed the permission system nows, that this step can horribly backfire. :/
We definitely won't do it because of just one plugin.

So obviously it's hoping and waiting for an update.

    Whats the problem?
Works very well with #1337 and PEX (no erros, channels, pre- & suffix, all colors, healthbar etc. works)

    codename_B

PEX and bPermissions both work just fine with herochat. PermissionsBukkit does not.

    CubieX

Hm. So it's upgrading to Bukkit 1337 (Yeah! Of course the leet verson does it! XD) or switching from PEX to bPermissions...
    OR waiting for HeroChat 5.0

If we at least had an approximate release date, this choice would be easier, though. :(
