DispNameChanger 3.o - Change anybody's display name!​

DispNameChanger is a plugin that lets you easily change your display name or any other player's display name. I know there are other plugins that do this, but I think this is the only one (aside from /nick in essentials) that allows you to change YOUR name and ANYONE's name and permissions support. It now saves your name after you leave and loads it when you come back! *NEW* With Spout, this plugin also changes the name above the player's head and sends you a fancy notification!

Features:

• Change the display name of a specified player, including yourself
• Spout: If installed, changes player's names above heads
• Permissions Support (Default is Permissions 2.7.x or 3.x) if not found, uses SuperPerms
• PERSISTENCE! (Thanks to @Sammy for that one, he helped me a TON)
• Supports Colors! (Thanks to @itsatacoshop247)
• IMPORTANT: This plugin conflicts with Essentials, it doesn't work with this plugin. If you have essentials, you can just use /nick and change the nickname character to '' in the config, so it basically does the same thing :)

The permissions default to the Permissions Plugin 2.7.x or 3.x
If you don't have it installed it uses SuperPerms(PermissionsBukkit, bPermissions)
Commands:

• /rename <player> <new> - Changes the specified player to the specified name
• /rename <player> - Resets the player's name
• /rename - Reset's your own name
• /checkname <player> - Checks the player's name (Not really working)

You didn't have to code anything. You could have pointed GoodKnight2000 to the re-upload of the plugin which not only contained the changes I made to the plugin.yml but the source code as well. Instead you are being a pain in the butt.

I get it, you don't want to support the plugin anymore. That's fine. I might just pick it up. Right now I'm still just trying to understand some of what you did because your plugin includes some pretty nifty DB Code that I haven't ever seen before. But once I do understand it and feel that I can competently support it, I'll probably pick it up, if only so I can get some more experience with Java, and experience with the Bukkit/Spout API.

Alright, I've done my research, got my IDE All set up, and I feel that I can take over this mod's development/maintenance.

This is my request for your permission to take over the mod and maintain it on Bukkit Dev.

I just downloaded the latest version (3.1) and the plugin doesnt appear to work. I changed my name and when i chat it still displays my old default minecraft name.

 

you're using a plugin that doesn't allow it to work. Essentials?

I don't know what plugin is doing it but this plugin still works. It's being replaced by the one linked on Bukkit Dev, go download that one and try it.

 

Is there anything showing up in the server logs, like errors?

EDIT:

I know the plugin works because I just tested it (again). So defiantly something interfering with it. If there are no errors, Could you please start disabling plugins 1 by 1 until it does start working? I know that's going to be a pain but it's the only thing I can think of right now.

Additionally the client is needed as well. There is no way currently with Bukkit at this stage of it's development to do what spout is doing.
