    Multiverse 2 - World Creation/Management/Teleportation & More
    Current Version: 2.2-AB

    Description
Multiverse 2 is a ground up rewrite of the popular Multiverse plugin for CraftBukkit. There are many new features, the biggest one being the much better usability and cleaner code! MV2 has been in the works for over 2 months and given the size of it, the developers are confident that you'll find a small bug or two. Please come into our IRC channel and discuss politely with us and we'll get it resolved quick-fastly!

Looking for the old version that runs on CraftBukkit 1000? We don't have it anymore :( Here's an archive of the old help post. If you're a new user, we REALLY recommend using Multiverse 2..

    The Multiverse Team:
    Developers:

    • PermissionsBukkit support (Anything that implements the superperms api (PermBukkit, PEX, bPerms...)
    • iConomy, BOSEconomy, RealEcon, Essentials Econ and Item economy support!
    • Show which users are in what worlds
    • Create portals to let users go between worlds
    • Control who can enter worlds/portals with permissions!
    • World scaling with NetherPortals

    • Fixed a bug with new Portals
    • Updated for iConomy 5 (You will need to update to iCo 5)
    • Improved the PVP Setup
      • Now you no longer have to set the server.properties PVP variable to true... this is now completely done via the worlds config and properly stops PVP rather than preventing the damage from being applied.
    Version 1.6.3

    Version 1.6.2

    • Contains updates/features which were introduced in 1.5
Version 1.6 - Thanks to 'fernferret'

    • Updated for CB Builds 600+
    Version 1.5 - Permissions 2.1+ - (V1.5 - 02/03/2011)[/U]

    • Fixed whitelist/blacklisting once and for all :), thanks to @ledhead900
    • Add permission node 'multiverse.portal.exempt' -- Basically means they don't have to pay the cost of the portal... this is useful for Donors and such.
    • Updated to use iConomy 4.1 -- Would be great if I can get feedback on this... as usual I can only test solo.
    Version 1.4 - Permissions 2.0 & 2.1 - (V1.4 - 26/02/2011 - 01:11 AM GMT)

    • Should be easier on high pop servers now
      • Only checks if a player is within a Portal everytime he changes BLOCK Coordinate instead of every single pixel footstep he/she takes.
    • Now Supports Permissions 2.1 -- Both 2.1 and 2.0 support have seperate JARs, so get the right one.
      • Also commands are properly disabled when a Permissions plugin is not found and it will alert the player trying to use the Command.
    Version 1.3 - Permissions 2.0 - (V1.3 - 24/02/2011 - 02:31 AM GMT)

    • Removed the 'Stupidly Long Constructor'
    • Fixed an error which was loading portals that were on a non existent world which caused errors later on.
    Version 1.2.2 - (V1.2.2 - 23/02/2011 - 03:05 AM GMT)

    • Nothing much just updated so it works with Minecraft Beta 1.3, I suggest you don't use a lower Multiverse build than v1.2.2 otherwise it won't work and errors will occur.
    Version 1.2.1 - (V1.2.1 - 20/02/2011 - 23:35 PM GMT)

    • Changed over to the new Entity Damage...

some change either in MC 1.3 directly, or in Bukkit as a result of their 1.3 build broke Permissions 2.0, I don't know which, but it cascaded down to everything that depends on them.

it might have been the isOp() bug that was fixed in #424 from what I'm catching in other threads

Seems to be problems loading in new terrains when busting through a portal to the same world. Might just be might server being shiet...

Be careful with this on 1.3!

You need to convert each world to the new save system used in 1.3 before you add it to MultiVerse or it'll simply generate a new world with the same name as the old one. This appears to be irreversible, though I could certainly be wrong on that point. I found it easiest to convert the worlds by running and stopping the server repeatedly, setting each world as the "main" world in server.properties each time in order to convert them.

I'm actually having problems setting destinations for my portals, even using the commands. No matter what I set it to, it's coming up as 'null' in the 'destlocation' area of the Portals.yml. Changing the 'null' to another portal name or a set of co-ordinates hasn't worked either; nothing happens when I come into contact with the assigned blocks. Is it supposed to send a confirmation message through chat or the console when you set a destination? Because I haven't been seeing anything. Note, I can generate new worlds, teleport between them using /mvtp, and set the location of the portals no problem, just not the destinations.

Overall I'm thrilled I was able to generate a Netherworld I can warp to successfully, I just need a portal to work between the worlds now. :D

P.S. Running Permissions 2.1, have removed all other plugins to check if it fixes the issue, but it has not.

I rolled back to Permissions 2.0 and upgraded Bukkit to #424 and it seems to be working now for me, but it really does need Perm 2.1 support when possible, if for no other reason than Perm 2.1 added multi-world support :)

Yeh, Jeb said they added in the bukkit code which sent Chunks closest to the player first then outwards in a spiral... however from looking earlier its not implemented... however I believe Bukkit have reimplemented it or at least will be.
    --- merged: Feb 23, 2011 8:44 AM ---
Yeh from what I saw on IRC it was Essentials that was screwing up Perm 2.0, and yeh after thinking about it I will be updating MultiVerse to 2.1 Permissions at the same time as fixing the constructor crap.
    --- merged: Feb 23, 2011 8:45 AM ---
Yup sadly this is an issue with Bukkit itself and not MultiVerse. Hopefully this will be fixed soon and Notch doesn't go changing the save format again :).
    --- merged: Feb 23, 2011 8:47 AM ---
Thats wierd, when you set a destination you get a response back saying that the destination has been set etc...

    Will look into the issue.

    Code:

What decides where you spawn when you go through a portal connected to another? Some of my portals spawn me a few squares north of the exit portal, some east. I built a portal inside a building in the nether, but I kept spawning outside the building, to the east. I changed the portal's location inside the building so the east side pointed inside a room, but then it still spawned me outside the building, to the south, near the spot the previous portal would spawn me at. Is there something stopping the portal from spawning me in a sensible location or so they just have an odd way to decide where to spawn you?

Is there a way to decide in which direction a portal spawns you?

I was abel to create a new (nether) world manually by adding it to worlds.yml
But if I try to teleport to it I get the usual internal error reply when trying any command.

I use permissions 2.1, and as admin I have '*' rights. Anyone having similar problems?

I get the same error running Permissions 2.1 and Craftbukkit build 426.

No MultiVerse commands work, even as admin. Gives an "internal error message" in the client and the same exception on the console.

Can you pastebin your server log, not quite sure whats going on.
    --- merged: Feb 23, 2011 6:44 PM ---
Ignore it, it means nothing just something Bukkit put in place to try and stop plugin devs from using constructors etc. Doesn't break anything just tries to annoy the server admin in console, it will be fixed.
    --- merged: Feb 23, 2011 6:45 PM ---
In that case you haven't updated MultiVerse, update to 1.2.2 it fixes this error.
    --- merged: Feb 23, 2011 6:46 PM ---
Atm it checks the radius around the portal, it should start closest to the portal then gradually move out... wierd that its doing it the furthest away first.

I plan to allow the player to choose an exact location next to the portal for it to teleport the player.

Reading around the forums you really don't provide much constructive criticism and seem to think upon Plugin Devs as your workers to do as you like, you seem to be pissing off a few devs with how you respond to things...

Don't take this as me telling you to leave the thread/forum and stop replying, it's more like.... think of your response to plugin developers first... we're using our time to create a plugin for people to use, we're not gaining anything POSITIVE from it... infact theres alot of negative crap you get from releasing a plugin.

Now onto a reply which will hopefully yield some information on the Constructor error....

It's been 2 QUICK updates which were to update to 1.3 and to fix the Entity Damage change... these were PLUGIN Breaking changes... The long constructor is no where near plugin/game breaking. But in order for me to swap to it I have to rewrite parts of it and break the plugin and LASTLY it's not a case of me choosing to leave it out, it's finding the time to rewrite parts of it then checking that it all works and releasing it. I have a life outside of this forum.

Traveling with a portal on the same map to another portal is hellish at best. It is very buggy - 50% of the time users cant load the chunks fast enough and they die. The distance doesnt seem to make a difference. To see this first hand visit our test server. A possible fix is to pre-load the chunks before teleporting with the portal - I believe this is an issue in 1.3 under the new region maps.

I do have one quick question, and I think it's been addressed in this forum already (though I can't find a way to search just this forum), but I've had an issue of not being able to destroy new blocks I put down in any of the worlds except the primary one. I can get it to work by logging off in the primary world, then logging back in and going to a different world, but after about 20 or so blocks have been placed, it goes back to me not being able to destroy the newly placed blocks. If I remember, this is a CB thing though, and not anything to do with the plugin, but not sure.

Again, thanks for the great work and I'm in no hurry for an answer.

By the looks of that error you're not running a CraftBukkit with version 1.3 Minecraft.

MultiVerse 1.2.2 and up will be for Minecraft 1.3 only.

Yeh, it's teleporting full stop... teleporting now takes forever etc.... However its not loading the chunks thats the issue its sending of the chunks to the player, the server loads the chunks absolutely fine it just all comes down to transferring the data to the player.

Notch and Co were meant to use Bukkits code for the spiraling method... so it sent the chunks closest to the player first then spiralled outwards however at first glance into 1.3 it seems they completely left it out and its still sending the furthest data first... I believe this will be reimplemented into Bukkits builds, if not already.

For what it's worth, I tend to use the "/mvpd here" when setting a portal destination, instead of a portal name. That way I can specify exactly where and in what orientation a player appears on the other end.

    Something like:

    • Create portal A in world 1. (/mvpc portal-a)
    • Teleport to world 2 (/mvtp world2)
    • Create portal B in world 2 (/mvpc portal-b)
    • Orient myself for arrival in world 2
    • select portal A, and set the destination (/mvps portal-a, then /mvpd here)
    • /mvtp world1
    • Orient myself for arrival in world 1
    • /mvps portal-b, then /mvpd here

Hrm, all these plugin incompatibilities have me considering starting up a website similar to Curse specific to Bukkit plugins, where plugin authors can upload multiple versions with a TOC file specifying which versions of Bukkit and which dependencies (and their versions) are required... Lord knows Bukkit could stand for a little better organization to help out both developers and users XD

Maybe after I finish my current project :)

Bukkit are working on their own version of this, it'll be at http://fill.bukkit.org however I believe there is no ETA on this.

ah, well there ya go, lol...
but see, that's the kind of thing I mean... I just started using Bukkit this weekend, and it's been impossible to find things. It took me hours just to figure out how to download CraftBukkit itself because Bukkit is providing NO information to users on their website, it's all user-to-user support :\

Thankfully the great plugin developers around here make their side of it easy for newbs like me =^_^=

Well Bukkit was never meant to be public yet, as its still not released. Just so happens that because hMod went down the drain (although is back in some form now) people needed an alternative.

The WIKI is being overhauled I believe to provide more help etc, and I'm sure as soon as they release their first version it will all improve :).

Well, those are sort of the breaks at the moment. Bukkit is pre-release software. No guarantees it won't eat your worlds, take your lunch money, or slap your sister, let alone work.

    But it's getting better!
