    MOVED TO DEV BUKKIT:
    News

    v2.4.2 Released - 9/24/2011
See the change log for details.
Everyone using PermissionsEx, Essentials, or anything else besides the regular permissions plugin or PermissionsBukkit should add or change this in their config under the Global section:
    LegacyPermissions: true
As of 2.4.0 the bPermissions plugin is supported directly.
As of 2.3.7 the PermissionsBukkit plugin is supported directly.
This support is not done through the new built in Permissions that bukkit provides, because there is no way to get a players group using the built in methods. However, by supporting this directly, you can now use the new permissions system while still keeping Residence, and not having to use old permissions at all anymore.

    Residence Signs (by KarnEdge)

NOTE: All Residence usage information has been moved to the wiki!

    About:
Residence is different from most protection plugins in that it aims for the users to be able to protect their own homes without having to bother the admin to do it. Residence has support for a variety of different protection types including preventing movement through areas, all of which can be configured by the land owner, and limited by the admin.
    Features:
    Features (open)

    • Allows players to define protected areas for themselves.
    • Individual permissions for each protected area. Land owner can give / deny permissions globally or to other specific players.
    • Different permissions per land include: move, build, use, pvp, fire, teleport, monsters spawn, damage prevention
    • Support for group permissions on protections.
    • Multi-World support.
    • Teleport system to allow users to teleport to residences.
    • Collision detection system to prevent residences from overlapping.
    • Limits to protected size can be set up by the admin.
    • Limits to number of protected areas per player can be set.
    • Two ways to select land including using the select command, or using a item to select 2 points.
    • Messages when you enter / leave a residence. (customizable)
    • Land "leasing" system which requires users to renew the lease on their protection every X number of days or loose the protection. (off by default, see config file)
    • Recursive Sub-zoning. Create zones within zones, and then zones within those zones...
    • TONS of configuration for admins. Customize every single flag that players can or cannot use in the config file, based on their permissions group.
    • (Optional) IConomy support, can set up cost per X number of blocks protected.
    • (Optional) Permissions support.
    • In-game help / commands descriptions

    - "Use" flag now covers trap doors.
    - Lease renewal can now be pulled from the Residence's bank.

    v2.3.5
    • Fix for firespread flag with CB1000.
    • Added "piston" flag.
    v2.3.4
    • Fixes for CB1000

    v2.3.3
    • Removed subzone list from /res info, and gave it its own command that supports multiple pages, /res sublist <residence> <page>
    • If the save file errors, it will now be preserved rather then overwritten, it will be renamed res-ERRORED.yml, the plugin will now disable itself upon error as well unless the StopOnSaveFault option in the config is set to false.
    • Fixed non-working per-world flags.
    • Fixed a few message bugs.
    • Add /resadmin removeall <player> admin command to remove all residences owned by a player.

    v2.3.1

    • Removed area list from /res info, use /res area list [residence] or /res area listall [residence] now.

    • Fixed residences not being properly removed from lease / rent system, upon deletion.
    • Fixed bug related to default group option in the config.
    • Fixed global "container" flag bug.
    • Fixed some NPE's related to explosions.
    • Added /resload command to load the save file after you make changes to it (UNSAFE, as it does not save residences first, and so you may loose new residences that were just created)
    v2.2
    • Added per residence Blacklist/Ignorelists that will allow you to specify certain block types to be ignored from residence protections, or unable to be placed in residences.
    • Added Server owned land, use /resadmin server <residence> to change the owner to "Server Owned"
    • Added global Ignorelists which allow certain block types to become unprotectable for the whole world / for a specific user group.

    • Added "/res area replace" command, allows you to resize / move a physical area. If the new area is bigger, it will only charge you for the difference in size.
    • Added 'waterflow' and 'lavaflow' flags which override the flow flag if set.
    • Fixed a bug causing money to still be charged when failing to add a area to a residence.
    v2.1.1
    • Fix case sensitivity bug in rent system.
    v2.1
    • BOSEconomy support.
    • Essentials Economy support.
    • RealShop Economy support.
    • Added the 'place' and 'destroy' flags, which if used overrule the 'build' flag. These allow you to give only block placement permissions in a certain area, or only block destroy permissions.
    • /res check [residence] [flag] <player> command, this command evaluates if <player> is affected by [flag] at [residence]. You can leave off <player> and it will use your name.
    • Added a LeaseAutoRenew config option, that will cause leases to automatically renew so long as the player has the money to do so. Note that, if economy is disabled this doesn't work, as there would be no point to leases. Needs Testing! :)
    • Global FlagPermission config section, that allows you to give permission to use a flag to all groups, useful for the build / move / use flag that you almost definitely want everyone to have access to. Flags under each individual group will overrule these.
    • You can now set a limits on how deep or how high protections can go into the group, using each groups MinHeight and MaxHeight settings.
    • /res select sky, and /res select bedrock commands, these auto adjust to the above mentioned MinHeight and MaxHeight settings, so it won't select into a area you can't protect.
    • Rent system implemented.
    • Many bug fixes, including proper creeper explosion prevention now. Also, fixed some bugs when renaming residences.
    • New healing flag.
    • The monsters flag has been split up into "animals" and "monsters" now.

i had a similar problem: i wanted to be "resadmin", but it didnt worked when i gave me the permission in "permissionbukkit".

    what i've done:

    - going to the (server) root and opened "permissions.yml" and added something like
    Code:
    server.admin:
        description: Admin Commands
        default: false
        children:
            residence.admin: true
    - saved
    - opened permissionsbukkits "config.yml" and added:
    Code:
               server.admin: true
so it worked for me, perhaps it helps you :)

btw: why u not just change the "default" group in the residenceconfig to the groups name u want be able to use residence? so the "default" group should have no rights for residence... :=)

I'm having an issue where if I try to change the economy system from "iConomy" to "BOSEconomy" the plugin won't work. I re-installed both BOSEconomy and Residence so I know I'm using the latest versions of both. I edit the config.yml, restart my server, log on, no messages when I enter and leave residences, so I type "/res" into the console and... nothing! No error message, not even the "/res ? for help" prompt. So, I go back into the config.yml and change it back to iConomy and it works fine, but I can't sell, buy, rent, etc residences... What am I doing wrong here? I'm still a bit of a noob to this sever stuff, but I understand the termonolgy and stuff fine.
    Thanks

Never mind! I fixed my problem! Even though my server isn't using Essentials for it's economy, only for the commands, I had to set "EconomySystem" to Essentials in the config.yml...
Great plugin BTW! I am very pleased with how easy it is to use!

Hm.. whenever I try to use pistons in my area.. for some reason they won't work. I went under my flags, and set the pistons to true, but it just keeps telling me "The owner does not have permission to do that." and whenever I go under the config.yml, it just keeps reverting the modifications back... help? Please?

Any easy way for users to, say, have player A B and C use the same permissions without having to manually re-add every permission? Maybe like an assignable list?

I have searched through the thread and i cant seem to find anything of this nature but it is slightly off topic as in that it isn't really support for the plugin but a question about the usage of the plugin.
I was just wondering if there was a way to set it up to allow people to protect their own houses with a residence but make it more beneficial for them to join a town as well/ instead. Since you would normally have to pay to get a town slot, this would probably be more than the cost to protect that area themselves for their own town so that the town mayor isn't loosing money. If you cannot set it up in a way to encourage people to join a town, do you just end up with lots of protected houses and towns with little players in them?

    Smidds:

We had the same problem with users not being able to set the piston flag. For some reason this ability is not enabled in the default configuration file. However, the solution is simple. Edit the config.yml file and add piston: true under FlagPermission. E.g.

    Code:
    FlagPermission:
       move: true
       build: true
       ... many more flags...
       piston: true

    That should do the trick.

    Best,

    Frelling

    Can anyone help me?
    • CraftBukkit Version: CraftBukkit [#1000]
    • Residence Version: Residence 2.3.8
    • What you were doing when the error occurred: My server was restarted. When he returned, the RESIDENCE plugin stopped working. Then restart again to load it... When I realized, all RESIDENCES had been reset. I checked the folder and the file RES.YML was like RES.YML-ERRORED.YML. I opened to see if something was wrong or corrupted and everything was perfect. Then rename the file to RES.YML. I tried to create another and put the content inside and he returns with the name of RES.YML.BAK. I do not know what to do...
    • Any server console error messages:No Crashes, Error, Wrong or Bad Chunk messages.
    • Other plugins that may be causing the issue:No.
What i gotta do to get my Plugin to recognize it?

While I'm sure there's some great tutorial for this somewhere, I'm too lazy to find it. I want this to be setup that the default PermissionsEx group can rent/lease residences, then make the next group up be able to OWN/create/rent out residences. Can anyone point me to all the settings I need to change for this to work? If needed, the name for default (renting only) group is Beggar and next group is Townsman (Creating, owning, renting out). Help appreciated.

Seriously. What's up with the new permissions system? I am the owner of my server. I have op. I have the permission "residence.admin" yet I still cannot use selection commands? Please tell me how I can fix this. I even have "LegacyPermissions" or whatever it is, set to true. I am running build 1060 too. This makes no since to me. Why was the permission system changed? It worked fine before. "EnablePermissions" is also set to true for me. And why is the config file not in a separate folder?

I seem to be getting the following problem when using BOSEconomy. I tried setting the config to Essentials since a previous user who also used Essentials said it worked for him, but neither one works at all. I'm looking to have my server live in a few days and this is the last kink I need to work out of the system before I do so.

One of my users has created his first residence in a different world. I'm using BananaMaze to generate dungeon. I have to manually disable/enable Residence after the server loads as a workaround.

I tried "MultiWorldPlugin: BananaMaze" but that doesn't seem to help.

    I'm running CB1060 with Residence 2.3.9.

Using permissionsbukkit Krinsdeath's temporary fix build <- It's the update that came out after 1.2

I found a bug in the Residence config file. Basically the problem is that the option:
    GroupAssigments:
    bekvon: default
    player: default
Isn't working. I created a second group and at first I thought the config file wasn't recognizing the second group. However, I set the default group option to my second group and it worked, everyone was in the second group instead of the default. Additionally I also tried creating a permission group with the exact same name as the second group in the config, but alas that didn't work either. Hopefully, bevkon can fix this soon.

P.S. GroupAssigments is misspelled. It's missing the N in assignment.

    Here is my config:

I don't know if something changed or not, but:
My world PVP is off via the res config.
My default residence setting on creation doesn't mention PVP (dont' think it ever has).
It used to be that PVP was off by default even tho the residence flags didn't specify PVP at all for that residence and I would /res set pvp t for the residences I wanted PVP on.
But now, something changed and pvp is only off if I explicitly /res set pvp f
    Any ideas?
