    Permissions 3.0
Rcjrrcjr has been working quite hard on this upgrade to Permissions. However, it currently still suffers from a number of bugs. The most important of these which directly affects HeroChat is the non-functioning of prefixes and suffixes. There are less-than-pretty workarounds, but I'm refraining from fully supporting an update until Permissions 3.1 is released which should include a number of significant bug fixes. When this does occur, however, I have a build ready for you guys that should work. You can download it here. Again, I highly suggest not using this until Permissions 3.1 is released unless you really don't care about prefixes and such.

See you when I get back!

Is your config resetting when you make changes?
If you make changes to the config while the server is running, you need to use the /ch reload command to make the changes stick. I wish this message wasn't necessary, but people only seem to read things in big, bold, red text (if at all).

Have a problem? a feature request? Go here.
HeroChat now has its very own redmine found here. If you have an issue or would like to suggest a new feature, I urge you to file it via redmine. I will be checking this much more often than this thread from here on out.

    Hello Dthielke, I was wondering;

Is it in any way possible to have different keyboard presses to talk in certain channels?

    Er go,

Simply PRESSING " T " brings up the typing interface, where you will automatically type to your "current" channel, where you can then type "/ch channelname" to CHANGE your active channel...

What I would like, is for pressing " T " to bring up global chat, and whatever you type will be sent to global chat, and simply PRESSING " G " or " C " would bring up chat to your permissions group only?

Is it at all currently possible to configure it as such?

    Just curious.

    - thanks!

Using this since day 1, never failed us, thanks for all the hard work.

Any chance we can get a 'whichworldplayerisin' prefix thing for multiworlds? <3

Can you add a verification before sending chat message?
i've my own plugin who cancel chat event, but it seem that herochat send the msg even with event.isCancelled() who report it cancelled.

    Got some compatibility questions:
    1) Is the current version compatible with Towny? Does anyone run them together?
    2) Does HeroChat replace iChat functionality? (prefix, suffix) So should i remove iChat or are they meant to use together?
    3) When using HeroChat, is there still the "default" Channel, or how do other Mods send stuff? Does HeroChat affect any Mod output such as iAuction, or do they show up no matter which Channels you listen to?

And another question/suggestion: Is it possible to set the Default channel per Group? I would like new (Trial) members to write to a Trial channel, Members and up should have the "normal" channel as default.

I'm going to try a clean install to see if that will help

Edit: Nope it didn't even if I set everything except local to auto join it still shows me as being in global on the server =/

Okay it's now decided that I can only talk in global and not any other channel, all other channels do not appear in-game and show as global on the server console.

Thank you finally for squishing those bugs! It's been really difficult.

On other hand, when I created a new channel without "saved" variable, it still stayed (staid?) saved. Updating to 3.03 now to see if that fixes that problem.

@Latros, such a feature would require a client-side mod. HeroChat itself isn't able to check for key presses, but you can create such functionality by binding macros using the Improved Chat client-side mod found here.

@GmK, glad to hear everything is still working well! Multi-world recognition will be implemented, I just haven't gotten a chance to mess with it yet.

@Spiritax, yeah - will do, sorry. Expect an update in a few minutes.

    @Sevenos:
    1. I haven't tested it myself but I've heard of people using both together without issues. Try it and if you run into problems just let me know and I'll see what I can do.
    2. HeroChat replicates the prefix and suffix features of iChat, but you can still have both installed if you want things like word censoring and/or health bars.
    3. HeroChat shouldn't affect messages sent by other plugins such as iAuction - they should all behave as if the channels weren't there. I plan on adding a way for other developers to route their plugins' messages to a specific channel, I just haven't gotten around to it.
    4. Currently you cannot set a default channel per group. I doubt I'm going to add this at this point because the new persistent settings behavior pretty much eliminates the need for it. You can have the server default set to the Trial channel, but as soon as a member changes their focus to a different channel, this new channel will be saved as their individual future default. It restores any changes a user makes involving joining/leaving/focusing channels when they log back in.
@Xemnas33, very strange that you're still having issues as it seems to work fine for everyone else at this point. Try starting with the default config again, but make sure you delete the users.yml file and disable all other plugins. If that works, you can start re-enabling plugins to see if its a compatibility issue with something.

@Juze, yeah that's something I overlooked in the new file saving. That'll be fixed in a few minutes.

With only permissions, iChat and Herochat on and having done a fresh install with default config etc it still regards every channel as global in the server and shows nothing in-game =/

Do you have any idea at all? :(

By the way what does this mean?

Hmm. Can you post the config and users file here (upload to pastebin)? I know you're saying you're using the default config, I just want to check. Is there any chance that I could connect to the server you're testing this on? You can PM me the info if you're not comfortable sharing it publicly. I really need more information to diagnose this, especially if no errors are being thrown.

I figured it out that after the update it changed the auto-join to true and than everyone in the users.yml got access to ALL channels.

They couldn't talk in it but they could definitely see it.

I had to change auto-join to false again and than delete the users.yml

Which version of HeroChat did you convert the file with? That was an issue prior to 3.03 but it should be fixed since.

I'm still strugling with local chat. My settings have local set as true in local chat. However, people may hear me far far away (Setting has 50) and nobody is near me. Then I stumbled at this bug: I had a friend next to me, tried talking in local chat and it said "Nobody can hear you".

This is a issue we're currently looking into. The player locations don't seem to be updating.

You posted this earlier. What i want is something sort of like ichat where i can have different groups be different colors. Id like for it to type out

    Admin <playername>: writing
    Miner <playername>: writing
    Default <playername>: writing
    Vip <playername>: writing
    VIP* <playername>:writing

How do i set this up?

    You need Permissions for that...

@dragtor, I can't tell you what the issue is with certainty unless you post your config.yml (please upload it to pastebin), but my first guess based on the error itself is that you don't have any channels properly defined.

@Juze, as RightLegRed said, this has been an issue for quite some time. It is, however, very sporadic and seems to be related to an issue with player locations refusing to update after teleporting inherent in Bukkit. We're still working on consistently reproducing the problem and then fixing it.

@Stephen92, the Permissions Support subsection of the original post has everything you need. Prefixes and suffixes work EXACTLY like iChat.

Are you aware of the bugs involving teleporting? Sometimes local chat stops responding and users have to relog to make people hear them again. Sometimes local will get stuck at the place they teleported from and they will be able to listen and speak in local at that location instead of where they actually are.
