A versatile, player-controlled land management plugin for use with Bukkit/Tekkit/Spigot/Libigot, offering solutions for pvp, griefing, chat, inflated economies and monsters.

    Features (open)

Towny includes a wide variety of features to offer instant enhancements to your traditional Minecraft server.
    • Allows players to own and manage land based on a pre-set grid layout.
      • Players join towns and purchase plots of land.
      • Players decide who can build, destroy, use "switchs" and use items on every plot they control.
      • Towns can join together into nations, further structuring a server into teams.
      • Towns grant protection from monsters, pvp, fire, explosions and greifing.
    • Wilderness Rules (Optional)
      • Area between towns is wilderness, with its own build permissions.
      • Limit players' interaction with the wild to just harvest-able blocks, keeping the wild pristine.
      • Roll-back tnt, creeper, wither explosions, dragon damage and endermen block-moving.
      • Block explosions and fire.
    • PVP Enhancements
      • Server with a strong PVP aspect will find Towny's grouping of players to be invaluable.
      • Prevent friendly-fire. (Optional)
      • Nations split players into larger teams.
      • Nations can declare other nations to be allies or enemies, further splitting players into even larger teams.
      • PVP can be turned on/off in wilderness, towns and worlds. (Optional)
    • Teleporting/Warping and Spawning (Optional)
      • Players can spawn to their town upon death.

Don't know if this is being planned but it would be very helpful to have a command (/townwho or something, you're the boss) that would give me Town information on a player, ie what town they belong to, and if you want to get crazy, what plots they own etc.).

Kudos on the item deletion at town fall / unclaim, so much less work for the admins having to deal with "his chest is in MY plot" drama.

You put a plot up for sale using "/plot forsale {optional amount}"
To buy a plot you use "/plot claim"

Already exists just use "/res {playername}"
You'll see the town, the number of plots they own, the perms for their plots, their bank, friendslist and when they joined and were last online.

I'm having a major annoyance of a problem with this plugin.
I have latest bukkit and latest version of the plugin.

Every now an then all the claimed land including plots will move a chunk forward or backward, meaning that land that should not be claimed becomes claimed and areas that shouldn't become plots become plots, its a really bizarre happening that never happened using the original Towny mod.

Does anyone know why or can help? Its frustrating to log in and find out everyones whole towns land has moved a chunk forward as well as their plot land and takes a long time to repair.

If it carries on it looks like I'm going to have to go back to old towny.

Came back to this thread after three days of using Towny Advanced to thank you for all your hard work in the plugin. I haven't used Towny since the original, and that was quite a while ago.

    Thank you.

Towny operates on a grid, as you know, and if the 0,0 point of the grid is altered plots will shift. Are you using a plugin that changes the world coordinates? If it happens again you can always use the backups Towny creates.

Also don't ever say you've got the 'latest' version, it doesn't help us help you at all.

Ok, I'm having two problem (1 small one). The first one is that I can't use /towny map when no town exists yet, the second one is that when I start up an other world, all town data of the previous world will be gone! That kinda sucks.

Bug: Does not despawn/remove mobs when they enter towny controled land. Even after extended periods.
Same config as previous versions with no issues.

Is there a way we can charge for public town spawns, but waive that charge if the towns are in the same nation?

Hey I'm having some problems with Towny. I can't add people to my town. It says "[player] is not permitted to join a town" and "noone of those names were valid". But when my friend makes his own town, he can add me. What's wrong?

Sounds like you didn't give your players the towny.town.resident permission node.

Eh, these personal issues with Towny may have been brought up and discussed before:

    1. I was hoping for some compatibility with BOSEconomy, because of the way an Admin is able to set the hourly, daily, etc. wage per player group. That in hand with the Jobs plugin would make it much more practical for nations and towns to tax its residents since the players would build income themselves by actually doing work with a portion of it cycling back into the oblivion of the server to help keep the economy balanced.

    2. Also, this plugin seemingly has no compatibility with Bukkit Permissions, either, at least, the permissions I set for groups through Bukkit's permission system do not affect the users' functionality with Towny. That being said, maybe I am overlooking something.

    3. And lastly, well, that's actually the sum of it. These are personal issues I am having on my server, and I am aware that it may not be very becoming of me to request higher compatibility with those aforementioned plugins, but I enjoy Towny and it would be very beneficial for the system I am trying to implement if the plugin was compatible with Bukkit and BOSEconomy.

P.S. Gah, still more knit picky-ness from me... The amount of permission nodes this plugin has is seemingly... Limited. Perhaps I am looking at the inappropriate page, but it would be useful to have permissions that attach to individual aspects of Towny, such as limiting Nation Chat to a "King" group through Bukkit Permissions.
Thank you for your time, and my apologies for the hefty requests!

Am I missing something for a setting for users? the 'town' claim and 'resident' claim have me confused.

say I want a town of 5 people to be able to claim only 20 (16x16) areas. is there a way to set this? from what I can see each resident can claim as many as they want as their 'own'. so in theory they could have a total of 100 (16x16) if the could afford the taxes.

I might be missing something, or misunderstanding it, as we are only using it VERY basicly until the 1.8 reset. but trying to get a grasp on the actual mechanics and limits of claiming chucks before we got 'full live' with it. tried looking on the wiki, but didnt see anything that explained the difference between 'town' chucks, and resident chucks.

anyone care the take the time to explain what each is
(the town ones I understand, only so many per number of residents..so if I haveit set to say 5 people get 20..the town can only claim 20 if I have town_block_ratio: '0' and set the total blocks in the town levels ).
how does resident blocks as the wiki puts it " Residents themselves have no limit on how many they claim" tie into this?

also on a side note..if taxes are set to 10 per day..and they have 5 members..thats 50 a day for the town correct? and if modifier is set to 2 for that size..its 100...Am i assuming right?

thank a truckload to whoever takes the time to explain these part to me.

    LlmDl

This is correct, set the town_block_ration: '0' and program a town level for 5 with the 20 townblocks, change any townlevels below five appropriately.
This is done with the new info node added in 0.76

The mayor of the town and any assistants do not pay town taxes. Read up on taxes and upkeep and the difference between them.

Make sure your config has using_permissions: false if you want to rely on superperms.

Learn how to use your permissions plugin.

ah ok so if I set to the -1 they can never have more plots than the city total is allowed? (minus if they buy more for the town or are gifted some).
thanks that clears up at lot :)

and sorry wrong terminology..was meaning upkeep in that 5 person 10 a day example, my mistake for the confusion. (we use to call the upkeep 'taxes' on our last map, so was a mistake on my part out of habit.)

The townblocks of the town are already a limiting factor for how many plots a resident can claim personally.
A town of 5 people with 20 townblocks would be forced to split the 20 townblocks among them. If you wanted to enforce a limit for a group, you can do that in your permission node file.

The upkeep modifier set in the townlevels works how you think it works.

thank you sir! :) clears up a lot of the trial and error I was attempting to find out by playing with it and seeing what it did.

then works out perfect. needed to tax by the member count X rate, and set them to 20 blocks the mayor picks beforehand that they are limited to build on (based on set per town level). sounds like I can do exactly that!

Im going to have to donate for all the work in this, this plugin does EXACTLY what we was doing manually, with mod supervison weekly on our server back in hmod. Setting size limits per person, only cuboid that area, tax them per member, and delete cuboid if they didn't pay..makes it 100x easier with this.

think there will be addition to add the town size variable to use in chat, like "[Town](Village)Playername" sort of thing?
what I was confused about before, using the townprefix in the actual chat message string.
some of he people in larger cities like the awe factor that came with people knowing they was in a city of 20+ people when they chatted (used a complicated prefix/suffix permissions setup in hmod to get this working before)

The mayors and kings receive titles that increase in stature as the town gets bigger. Kings can hand out titles and surnames to their minions, they could create their own ranking system that way.
