    New Towny Website!

    Taking Shades' Towny a step farther.

    A versatile, player-controlled land management plugin for use with Bukkit/Tekkit/Spigot/Libigot, offering solutions for pvp, griefing, chat, inflated economies and monsters.

    Features (open)

    Towny includes a wide variety of features to offer instant enhancements to your traditional Minecraft server.
    • Allows players to own and manage land based on a pre-set grid layout.
      • Players join towns and purchase plots of land.
      • Players decide who can build, destroy, use "switchs" and use items on every plot they control.
      • Towns can join together into nations, further structuring a server into teams.
      • Towns grant protection from monsters, pvp, fire, explosions and greifing.
    • Wilderness Rules (Optional)
      • Area between towns is wilderness, with its own build permissions.
      • Limit players' interaction with the wild to just harvest-able blocks, keeping the wild pristine.
      • Roll-back tnt, creeper, wither explosions, dragon damage and endermen block-moving.
      • Block explosions and fire.
    • PVP Enhancements
      • Server with a strong PVP aspect will find Towny's grouping of players to be invaluable.
      • Prevent friendly-fire. (Optional)
      • Nations split players into larger teams.
      • Nations can declare other nations to be allies or enemies, further splitting players into even larger teams.
      • PVP can be turned on/off in wilderness, towns and worlds. (Optional)
    • Teleporting/Warping and Spawning (Optional)
      • Players can spawn to their town upon death.
      • Players can spawn to their town or a town that is within their nation/allied with their nation.

      • Supports all economy plugins.
      • Charge money for plots, towns, nations.
      • Flexible tax system.
      • Upkeep to remove money from the economy, stopping rampant inflation.

    Optional
    • Questioner 0.6
    • Essentials 2.5+ - (Towny /town spawn's obey Essentials teleport cooldown)
    • All permissions plugins are supported and provide greater customization (recomend GroupManager).

    • iConomy 6 *
    • EssentialsEco *

    Is there a way to make it so only people with a certain permission node can use explosives?

    You don't need permissions, go to towny\data\worlds\ and for each worldname.txt change these:
    unclaimedZoneBuild=false
    unclaimedZoneDestroy=false
    unclaimedZoneSwitch=false
    unclaimedZoneItemUse=false

    to this:
    unclaimedZoneBuild=true
    unclaimedZoneDestroy=true
    unclaimedZoneSwitch=true
    unclaimedZoneItemUse=true

    and this:
    usingDefault=true

    to this:
    usingDefault=false.

    Then ingame type /ta reload

    Not right now.

    Do you have the towny.top permission node?

    Might be a legit error, Elgarl will see it.

  8. What version of towny? That error doesn't correspond to release or dev version.

    just had an idea for towny:
    to prevent buildings in a different style (e.g. rp servers) admins should be able to design blueprints - predefined buildings.
    users should then be able to choose a blueprint and a property provided on your own website (maybe with economy support). would that be possible?
    please excuse my possibly bad english!

    It used the antifly no matter what it is set to in settings.yml. That's really not nice

    Turn off cheat protection in the towny config.yml or grant players the towny.cheat.bypass if you want some players to be able to fly.

    I gave my admins and moderators towny.cheat.bypass and toggled it in config.yml. Flying is allowed in server.properties and nocheat is installed with mods and admins having the nocheat.* node

    Is there a way to make it so people cannot make towns in a specific area IE) expanded spawn area? without having to make a town in the whole area?

    because as it stands right now people can create towns in the spawn area but yet its guarded by worldgaurd

    EDIT: figured out how to do it with worldgaurd.

    /region flag regionname blocked-cmds /commandyouwannablockhere

    EDIT EDIT: nm it blocks ALL the /town and /t commands, so they cant /t spawn.....

    Any idea about how I would go about doing this? I looked through the config file and only saw options to force such settings ON, nothing to force set them OFF. Or is this done through a global command? I'm sort of hoping not because our server restarts every few hours so then me or another admin would have to retype it. <.<;

    Also, permission nodes for changing residents' titles/sirnames would still be nice. =P

    And my final question, is the compatible with the current version of PEX?

    Having an issue where players can only build in small parts of their plots, eveywhere else the blocks are removed

    http://pastebin.com/nZUSZUH5

    One player could'nt build any close to the front of his plot than 5 blocks, When i became a non admin user i could only build to one side of my plot but could also build into the plot next door, all the way accross it even though it was owned by a player not on my firends list

    for the new towny update, do we only need to replace the .jar
    it doesnt say to delete the config
    and if we were using ichat, do we put something like +townyprefix in the ichat config after disabling modify_chat?

  25. No need to delete config or english anymore.
    As for iChat, I've no idea I don't use iChat.

    I originally used TownySPout, switched to Towny original hoping it would fix performance, unfortunately it doesn't. Just was forced to remove support for this plugin due to an incredibly large amount of read time outs occuring 4-5 times a day with it enabled. (opposed to once every 3 days, it's odd as it's got more then sufficient ram assigned).

    Any tips or is Towny just impossible to use in a multi-world environment?

  27. I run Towny with 7 worlds (including nether), and 20 players at peak. I notice absolutely zero performance issues and no read timeouts.
    I very much doubt Towny would be causing your read timeouts at all. We go nowhere near any network packet code.

    We run 5 worlds, 60 players for about 2-3 hours in a timezone usually 20 to 40, I get a whoooolleeee lot of them timeouts :(

    When TOwny is installed, that is, I replaced it with Residence to see if that would be a better option for me, and found that it hasn't crashed in 2 days now. I was really glad if it survived 6 hours with Towny on, having timezones we crashed every hour or such even...

    So yeah, it's either towny or something conflicting with it, would you like a list of the plugins?

  29. You can post them but I'm 99.9% certain it won't be anything Towny related.
    In fact Towny's most intensive operation is preventing mob spawns, and thats all managed on a timer. 5 seconds is good, but if you drop it too low it will load your system like a b****.
    Check all your timers in the config. If they are fine, then it's not Towny doing it.
