Our main dev should correct the main issues tomorrow! We'll let you, and everyone know when the general compatability issues have been corrected.

Its not a fork, we have actually taken over the plugin

    1 - I laugh at you!
2 - We are giving this this plugin a major redo, not fork, not stealing.
    3 - I forgot what 3 is XD

Say you guys do get the permission from the original Author, would you guys stick with it or give up in a few months like the last one did? Switching to all these different perms plugins are seriously a pain in the ass. I guess ill keep my eye on this thread an see how it goes. For now Ill stay with PEX.

Why is everyone having a go at them. I loved permissions so easy to use and i am hoping that this team keep it in the future.
    Thanks for doing this

  7. I for one won't leave the team for a long while, and we can always rotate developers if need be.

    It all depends.

Can I just copy and paste groups and users from permissions 3?

For the last time, do NOT use this. It is ass backwards. You won't have compatibility with any new plugins. Stick to PEX, PermissionsBukkit, or bPerms.

    @PermissionsTeam
You laugh at me? Better than having the entire #bukkit channel laugh at you.

Lots of assumptions, rudeness, and negativity on this thread...why? If they did get the ok to make this then what's the problem? How about you find out before you start hating? Maybe even wish them good luck on getting it until you know for sure one way or the other. Permissions is, after all, better than any competitor, SuperPerms included.

And what if it fails? So what? It's just another dead plugin. You hating devs should feel bad for the way your heckling this project and team. Put yourself in their shoes. You're trying to help the community by reviving what many server ops consider a standard and your peers (other devs) come along and start hating on you. Seriously?

Sorry for the double post but what if they resolve the problems that make it "ass backwards" in your words?

WTF Why is everyone shitting on this so early? I loved Permissions 3, the style and SQL databases, and having it updated with SuperPerms and more, as well as being faster, I'm pretty sure thats a win. Since when did we smash Thor's hammer against people having a go?
If it doesnt work, well, then you HAVE a reason to judge. For now, 'simmer the fk down'.

  12. I wouldnt laugh at him, i hate the new PermissionsBukkit. i like old school Permissions, setting groups, its so much better than all this new confusing crap

Edit: Once this plugin works, i will definatly upgrade my permissions 3 to this. :) Good luck guys, everyone gets haters :D

Also, you need permission from the original author to A) use their source and B) use their plugin name.

superperms is not a competitor. It is an upgrade, a replacement of standard. Please don't describe it like it's some competitor, it's not.

On top of that we are working to get direct approval because of the backwards management around here not understanding licensing.

    How the bridge will work?
Its Build a Bridge and Script of fool in the Bukkit Perms? Or you Script in Permissions and its mirror it Bukkit Perms?
Or Bukkit Perms Mirror it in Permissions?

  21. We're still discussing how it will work, but we want to keep all of the current features and even the '*' node intact.

Unless this is going to be a "SuperPerms" manager, I see no valid reason as to why this should be created.

No one cares about licensing. The point is, everyone knowledgable with Bukkit agrees that Permissions should die. Permissions 3 was utter garbage and as is this. Permissions 2.7.4 was the last respectable release has been put to bed now that we have SuperPerms.

It's frustrating to see projects like this revieving things we worked hard to kill off. We are trying to make super perms a ubiquitous thing but people don't seem to understand.

Also don't be blinded by the "Plugin Developer" tag. It doesn't equate to competence. The best accomplishment this team has under their belt is adding to the mess of god mode plugins. It's even harder to accept the existence of this thread considering the devs in charge are responsible for everything that's wrong with Bukkit.

It is a FACT that the new permissions managers are better. bPerms, PEX, and Permissions Bukkit are made by respected members of the community who actually understand the goals of Bukkit. If you claim to not like them, it's only because you don't like change and can't be bothered to learn something new.

Just look at who commented on this thread, the people against it aren't some random trolls. They're not arbitrarily being negative. It's people who have proven themselves as competent and have made significant contributions and stay heavily involved with The bukkit community.

You have to recognize ethos where it exists and acknowledge it. Be humble and accept that the people telling you not to do this are people who know what they're talking about. It's what's best for the organization and standardization of Bukkit.

    Here you have some reasons:
    Prefix/Suffix support
    Easier setup
Automatic user addition in a specific group

I can't see any valid reason to change from Permissions to PermissionsBukkit/SuperPerms or another.

    SwearWord

    @Seweiwer
Because it's the Bukkit Team trying to standardize permissions? New plugins being released do NOT work with Permissions. I personally stopped supporting permissions as soon as SuperPerms came out.

You do not have my permission to do this and the license has been broken under numerous clauses thus you have copyright infringement, I would like this thread taken down and your sources. Thank you.

What is the best alterenative to switch to now then? Have been using PE3 all time and have 30+ plugins. Is PEX the best shot?

2 plugins are enough for those features. And I agree with @SwearWord all the way.

I have currently the same question after testing with the official plugin
Then help me and say the Plugins, please; I have mChat and PermissionsBukkit currently, but PermissionsBukkit isn't good enough at the moment. I need alternatives! It would be great if you can help.
