I won't port LogBlock myself to mcAPI. Source code is available, so it shouldn't be to difficult for someone else to do it, also I'm still here. so I can answer questions. If there is more than one willing, that's up to you to handle that.

The reasons I take this step, are the usual: I quit playing Minecraft about 5 months ago and lastly I was struggling to keep up with updates. The developement of Guardian made slow progress, so I fear it won't be ready to fully replace LB in time.

    Description:

LogBlock logs block changes into a MySQL database. Block changes can be placed or destroyed block, explosions, burned blocks, sign text changes, chest access, leaves decay etc.
It can be used as griefer identification tool, to find out who build a particular building, or even roll back changes by certain players. Other purposes can be e.g: Undoing of forest fires
All additional features are optional, to keep the database as short as possible. All database actions run in their own threads to avoid server lags.
The use of permissions plugin (or any clone) is possible, but not necessary.
Uses Spout for chest logging (but it's fully optional, and there is no need for the client mod at all).

    Features:
    • Logging for block placing, block braking, fire, explosions, leaves decay, signtexts, lava flow and chest content
    • Very mighty commands system, not only allowing to rollback and redo, but also to tp to blockchanges, delete log ingame etc. Full list of commands.
    • Many parameters for lookup/rollback/redo/tp/clearlog commands: Block changes of one ore more player, in a specific area, in a world edit selection, specific block types only, block changes older or newer that a specific date, destroyed/created block only, in a different world and combinations of all these parameters. Full list of parameters.
    • Rebuilding map after importing a backup (/lb redo)
    • Last parameter to use the parameters of the last command
    • Quick ingame lookup of block history a wood pickaxe or a bedrock block.
    • All commands accessible from console (exept tools :D)
    • Custom queries for tools.
    • Different tool modes (lookup, rollback, redo, writelogfile and clearlog)
    • Saves block data like wool color, log type, torch adjustment, etc
    • Multiworld and multiserver support (some servers sharing the same database)
    • BigBrother log import
    • Loggable super pickaxe plugin (not to confuse with WorldEdit's super pickaxe)
    • API
    • Webstats
    Why to use LogBlock:

Example commands: (thanks to tha d0ctor, read more about commands here)

/lb rollback player fire since 1d3h – rolls back fire 1 day 3 hours
/lb rollback player fire since 1d3h area 15 – rolls back fire 1 day 3 hours within a radius of 15 blocks

    /lb rollback player thad0ctor since 1h - rolls back thad0ctor 1 hour
/lb rollback player thad0ctor since 1d area 5 – rolls back thad0ctor actions for the last day within 5 blocks
/lb rollback area 10 since 1h30m - rolls back all modifications within 10 blocks since the list 1 hours and 30 mins
/lb rollback area 10 before 06.11.2011 - roll back all changes in an area of 1o before June 11th, 2011
/lb rollback player thad0ctor since 05:36:00 - roll back all changes of thad0ctor since 05:36 (server time)

    How to post error messages:

I won't aswer questions to general MySQL setup/installation/what is MySQL (there are lots of good tutorials out there, use google)
Please read the installation guide before asking a question about installation problems.
Please read the FAQ before posting a error report. It may be solved there.
In case of rollback or lookup problems: Type /lb savequeue and try again (when it's fixed then, it was a consumer problem, see FAQ)
When you post error messages, it's important to paste the whole stack trace!

I must really suck. Its not working. I know this isn't MySQL help :) but thanks for the assistance!
But this is what I type:

    mysql> alter table lb-main modify x mediumint not null;

    And I get this error:

ERROR 1064 (42000): You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that
corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '-main
modify x mediumint not null' at line 1

It seems to be that the name of the table is somehow interfering with it, should I change it?

I know it may have been asked before, but is there any possibility of rolling back spread lava? cause it's technically not placed, but it still does alot of permanent damage.

    gamemaster1494

Try it in all caps. Like
    ALTER TABLE lb-main MODIFY x MEDIUMINT not NULL;

or fool around with the caps like that... I had to do all caps to make a database. xD

  7. Offline

    DiddiZ

    Caps doesn't matter at all
    alter table `lb-main` modify x mediumint not null;
Wow, most detailed error report ever :D
You have to enable lava flow logging.
Then, when you rollback a lava griefer, you rollback the griefer and the environment player lavaflow with the same command:
    /lb rb player diddiz lavaflow

I actually rebuilt the entire database and started it from scratch with a new map to try to fix this.

    Strange ... everything seems ok.
I should display the failed query in the error message.

Is there a way to make it so that Logblock doesn't download spout?
Spout and my server are not friends; it causes severe errors.

    Disable chest logging.

    Domochevsky

So about this Spout thing... i had two immediate crashes yesterday, which are probably related to each other. That is, SIGSEGV, first with net.minecraft.server.World.cleanUp()V, then 12 seconds later after a restart with org.getspout.spout.SpoutNetServerHandler.getPlayerChunk()Lnet/minecraft/server/ChunkCoordIntPair;+4 .

I don't suppose you have a idea how to approach this particular set of errors, given that LogBlock is the only thing on my server using Spout? >_>

Once the creators of heroes get it compatible with Spout, i'll be updating to the latest version. And I'll clear the database and load the latest version of LB then. I will let you know how it goes.

Hm, not really. You better ask the spout guys.

You can log chest accesses. Will add that to the op.
What exactly is blocktype 274? And how can you place a stone pickaxe?
Most likely a plugin altering the place event, or using the LB api wrongly.

EDIT: It's nothing with the table, as only block ids are allowed to fit in there, items can lead to strange behavior.

Can someone explain the efficiency of logblock, how does it compare to bigbrother, which i use right now, would switching to this use less resources, less sql querys, and so on?
Someone with detailed knowledge of this would be greatly valued.

We are getting alot of lag lately. I am not sure if here is the right place to show that.
We are still running on "Logblock v1.22" and not sure if that is the case, or "db4free.net" is acting up lately.

    Code:
2011-08-11 15:48:04 [SEVERE] [LogBlock] Error while fetching connection
    com.mysql.jdbc.exceptions.jdbc4.CommunicationsException: Communications link failure

    DiddiZ

It uses lesser ram and way lesser cpu :D
And the database is up to ten times smaller.
    Yes
    /lb tb disable
    /lb tb
    place bedrock
    /lb tb
    place bedrock

    And so on :D

The whole stack trace is always better, but yes, in that case it's a mysql problem.
Would you consider running s local MySQL server?
