I won't port LogBlock myself to mcAPI. Source code is available, so it shouldn't be to difficult for someone else to do it, also I'm still here. so I can answer questions. If there is more than one willing, that's up to you to handle that.

The reasons I take this step, are the usual: I quit playing Minecraft about 5 months ago and lastly I was struggling to keep up with updates. The developement of Guardian made slow progress, so I fear it won't be ready to fully replace LB in time.

    Description:

LogBlock logs block changes into a MySQL database. Block changes can be placed or destroyed block, explosions, burned blocks, sign text changes, chest access, leaves decay etc.
It can be used as griefer identification tool, to find out who build a particular building, or even roll back changes by certain players. Other purposes can be e.g: Undoing of forest fires
All additional features are optional, to keep the database as short as possible. All database actions run in their own threads to avoid server lags.
The use of permissions plugin (or any clone) is possible, but not necessary.
Uses Spout for chest logging (but it's fully optional, and there is no need for the client mod at all).

    Features:
    • Logging for block placing, block braking, fire, explosions, leaves decay, signtexts, lava flow and chest content
    • Very mighty commands system, not only allowing to rollback and redo, but also to tp to blockchanges, delete log ingame etc. Full list of commands.
    • Many parameters for lookup/rollback/redo/tp/clearlog commands: Block changes of one ore more player, in a specific area, in a world edit selection, specific block types only, block changes older or newer that a specific date, destroyed/created block only, in a different world and combinations of all these parameters. Full list of parameters.
    • Rebuilding map after importing a backup (/lb redo)
    • Last parameter to use the parameters of the last command
    • Quick ingame lookup of block history a wood pickaxe or a bedrock block.
    • All commands accessible from console (exept tools :D)
    • Custom queries for tools.
    • Different tool modes (lookup, rollback, redo, writelogfile and clearlog)
    • Saves block data like wool color, log type, torch adjustment, etc
    • Multiworld and multiserver support (some servers sharing the same database)
    • BigBrother log import
    • Loggable super pickaxe plugin (not to confuse with WorldEdit's super pickaxe)
    • API
    • Webstats
    Why to use LogBlock:

Example commands: (thanks to tha d0ctor, read more about commands here)

/lb rollback player fire since 1d3h – rolls back fire 1 day 3 hours
/lb rollback player fire since 1d3h area 15 – rolls back fire 1 day 3 hours within a radius of 15 blocks

    /lb rollback player thad0ctor since 1h - rolls back thad0ctor 1 hour
/lb rollback player thad0ctor since 1d area 5 – rolls back thad0ctor actions for the last day within 5 blocks
/lb rollback area 10 since 1h30m - rolls back all modifications within 10 blocks since the list 1 hours and 30 mins
/lb rollback area 10 before 06.11.2011 - roll back all changes in an area of 1o before June 11th, 2011
/lb rollback player thad0ctor since 05:36:00 - roll back all changes of thad0ctor since 05:36 (server time)

    How to post error messages:

I won't aswer questions to general MySQL setup/installation/what is MySQL (there are lots of good tutorials out there, use google)
Please read the installation guide before asking a question about installation problems.
Please read the FAQ before posting a error report. It may be solved there.
In case of rollback or lookup problems: Type /lb savequeue and try again (when it's fixed then, it was a consumer problem, see FAQ)

So this is wierd, but when using logblock 1.25 everyone logs on a small chunk and nothing else loads, chat doesn't ever go through, and people keep getting booted and having to reconnect eternally. I get zero error messages which is the most confusing part. I have tested Spout and my server works fine with it, but all up to when i try to use the newest logblock 1.25, so i am sure its an issue with this, because as soon as i remove it my server works again. I tried running it on fresh configs, and everything but still to no avail.

I had to temporarily roll my logblock back to 1.24 and reload bukkitcontrib 1.7 to get my server to work again.

Anybody else having this issue? I find it very strange :S But i really want to make the switch over to spout without losing logblock :l

Well you see the problem is that my server will go all wonky sometimes doesn't happen too often but when it does theres always a boatload of saved data in queue.sl after being rebooted. Normally the consumer never falls behind.

  6. I updated to 1.25 and had the following error message. from that point on no players could connect to the server anymore. BukkitContrib was deactivated. The reinstalled 1.24 works fine.

    Sounds like cpu overload.
I don't think I changed anything in v1.25 that could cause that.
Can think of I problem in Spout interaction. Could you do me a favor and disable Spuot and chestlogging and tell me whether it works then?
Have a look at the server log
It only stores to local file when it's unable to connect to the mysql server, you may think about a local one :D
    That's a spout error

1.25 gives me an a huge problem..... it auto downloads sprout and nurfs the server totaly .... i then removed the old bukkitcontrib and tryed to get it working with sprout... i removed all the old bukkitcontrib dependant plugins and only used logblock and mcmmo which both support sprout. The server loads but isnt usable chat is passed to console but you cant see it in game its like the client is required to even play. Its not acceptable path for bukkitcontrib guys to have made they broke the old api and there for isnt backward compatible. I think your going to see alot of complaints in this thread related to logblock when infact the fault lies with sprout/contrib devs for rushing or something

This sounds like what happens to me. I will test without chest logging when i get home.

I dont think it was CPU overload, i was pretty sure when i checked it was at like 7% only. I will double check when i test though.

  13. Got the creeper player problem fixed. But I've just noticed...it's not recording signs or chests...Also I don't see the option in the config file to turn off water flow logging...could you perhaps link to the 1.24 config file?

I'm dumb. Got it all working now.

At the time I was on v1.24 I am updating to v1.25 now because its throwing arrayindexoutofbounds: 9 now during startup and has ceased to work entirely. Will edit this post after testing 1.25.

EDIT: 1.25 works now my server is mass spamming "NICK did not update properly at login" in the console.

Will wait and see if my previous problem occurs again.

Got this NPE: http://screensnapr.com/v/3exkE3.png then the server crashed. Still testing.

Fixed all errors in console including "nick did not update properly at login" spam and the NPE: http://screensnapr.com/v/3exkE3.png by removing bukkitcontrib

Didn't know I had to do that but not doing so the server would give that npe after a minute and crash.

Now bukkitcontrib unloaded no npes but the java process stops responding after a little longer.

Another reboot now it seems the java process has yet to freeze. Maybe it was just a fluke the first time.

It seems like Spout isn't very stable. You may have to disabe chest logging and remove spout.

Or you go back to v1.24 and Contrib, the outOfBounds comes from rollback.maxTime, you've to put "0m" in there to disable it.

More complex parameter system (may take a while to get used to it, but you can save lots of time reading through lots of log lines by using the right parameters to narrow it down or you can rollback for exaple all placed dirt blocks by a specific before the 2nd july in a certain radius)
    Way lower system requirements
Environment is split to Fire, Creeper, LavaFlow, TNT etc.
You can delete log ingame, eg when you rolled back a player or regenerated a chunk
You can lookup/rollback in WorldEdit selections
All commands are accessible from console
    You can rollback/redo/clearlog with tools

I'm sure there are more :D

Id like to report that the dev version of Spout is working very well for me on CB1042 together with LB 1.25, no problems for over 3 hours now.

For anyone having trouble, you may want to try it :)

LogBlock v1.25 doesn't use Contrib anylonger, but Spout. Spout doesn't run with Contrib and will throw exceptions. As Sorken said, the lastest spout dev build fixes most problems.
