I won't port LogBlock myself to mcAPI. Source code is available, so it shouldn't be to difficult for someone else to do it, also I'm still here. so I can answer questions. If there is more than one willing, that's up to you to handle that.

The reasons I take this step, are the usual: I quit playing Minecraft about 5 months ago and lastly I was struggling to keep up with updates. The developement of Guardian made slow progress, so I fear it won't be ready to fully replace LB in time.

    Description:

LogBlock logs block changes into a MySQL database. Block changes can be placed or destroyed block, explosions, burned blocks, sign text changes, chest access, leaves decay etc.
It can be used as griefer identification tool, to find out who build a particular building, or even roll back changes by certain players. Other purposes can be e.g: Undoing of forest fires
All additional features are optional, to keep the database as short as possible. All database actions run in their own threads to avoid server lags.
The use of permissions plugin (or any clone) is possible, but not necessary.
Uses Spout for chest logging (but it's fully optional, and there is no need for the client mod at all).

    Features:
    • Logging for block placing, block braking, fire, explosions, leaves decay, signtexts, lava flow and chest content
    • Very mighty commands system, not only allowing to rollback and redo, but also to tp to blockchanges, delete log ingame etc. Full list of commands.
    • Many parameters for lookup/rollback/redo/tp/clearlog commands: Block changes of one ore more player, in a specific area, in a world edit selection, specific block types only, block changes older or newer that a specific date, destroyed/created block only, in a different world and combinations of all these parameters. Full list of parameters.
    • Rebuilding map after importing a backup (/lb redo)
    • Last parameter to use the parameters of the last command
    • Quick ingame lookup of block history a wood pickaxe or a bedrock block.
    • All commands accessible from console (exept tools :D)
    • Custom queries for tools.
    • Different tool modes (lookup, rollback, redo, writelogfile and clearlog)
    • Saves block data like wool color, log type, torch adjustment, etc
    • Multiworld and multiserver support (some servers sharing the same database)
    • BigBrother log import
    • Loggable super pickaxe plugin (not to confuse with WorldEdit's super pickaxe)
    • API
    • Webstats
    Why to use LogBlock:

Example commands: (thanks to tha d0ctor, read more about commands here)

/lb rollback player fire since 1d3h – rolls back fire 1 day 3 hours
/lb rollback player fire since 1d3h area 15 – rolls back fire 1 day 3 hours within a radius of 15 blocks

    /lb rollback player thad0ctor since 1h - rolls back thad0ctor 1 hour
/lb rollback player thad0ctor since 1d area 5 – rolls back thad0ctor actions for the last day within 5 blocks
/lb rollback area 10 since 1h30m - rolls back all modifications within 10 blocks since the list 1 hours and 30 mins
/lb rollback area 10 before 06.11.2011 - roll back all changes in an area of 1o before June 11th, 2011
/lb rollback player thad0ctor since 05:36:00 - roll back all changes of thad0ctor since 05:36 (server time)

    How to post error messages:

I won't aswer questions to general MySQL setup/installation/what is MySQL (there are lots of good tutorials out there, use google)
Please read the installation guide before asking a question about installation problems.
Please read the FAQ before posting a error report. It may be solved there.
In case of rollback or lookup problems: Type /lb savequeue and try again (when it's fixed then, it was a consumer problem, see FAQ)
When you post error messages, it's important to paste the whole stack trace!

    hi,

first off all i have to thank you for your great work.
your plugin is really good and saved us a couple of times.
Now I have a question: Is it possible to log pictures?
Today we had someone who destroyed pictures all over the server but they are not loged.
Is there a way to do it or if it´s not implemented now could you?

I assume if you don't delete BukkitContrib.jar after upgrading to 1.25 it breaks a few things? I noticed after upgrading to 1.25 and forgetting to remove BukkitContrib.jar the console was flooded with Spout errors and PermissionsEx breaks (which then breaks things that rely on it).

I haven't tested it again since as I guess it would be better to wait for 1.26 when chest logging is fixed so I rolled back to 1.24 and everything works fine. Didn't even think about deleting BukkitContrib.jar (wasn't sure if other plugins needed it)

Thanks for all your work on this plugin. Convinced me to use a permissions system and my server has been better for it.

How do i install with a mac?

    DiddiZ

As pictures are entities and not blocks, there are some difficulties.
    Did you enable explosion logging?

Can be, as Contrib and Spout both modify the packet handling.

BukkitContrib resp Spout is used since v1.00 for chest logging
So you can just diasble chest logging.
But your errors also can be caused by running BukkitContrib and Spout at the same time

Im not runingBukkitContrib and spout at the same time.

Disabling chest-loggin would stop LogBlock of auto-downloading Spout?

    DiddiZ

Yes, but make sure you disable it for all worlds.

I have just a world, so no problem.

I'm getting issues where my server crashs for unknown reasons and after automatic reboot the server outright freezes and will not work because queue.sl is too big. Can you add an option to disable automaticly importing it? Sometimes the server crashs while I'm away and isn't online again for quite a while.

I think you could get this under control by adjusting your consumer settings, especially forceToProcess (maybe 50), so the queue won't get that large.

I somehow managed to lock lookups to player achi (who dont exist) how do i make it check for everyone again?
I skimmed through commands, params and examples but didnt see it.

@DiddiZ I have messed around a lot and found out that pluins such as LogBlock and mcMMo which both use MySQL and Spout causes my server to freeze. and the console is spammed with Read Timed out messages.

I know it's not Spout because i tested it running spout fine. It's definitely soething with Logblock and that other one which i can care less about.

    DiddiZ

When there are still read timeouts, it's no freeze, but likely an inf loop consuming all cpu.
LB has low ressouce costs, while I know of some cases there McMMO lagged the server to death.

  22. Offline

    Phantom Index

Well with LogBlock alone it did cause the server to freeze.

And believe me my server ran fine with logblock until it support Spout

    Skettalee

Had to do a server map change and notice now that the Logblock isn't auto saving the queue ever. How do I change that? Our mods have to make sure to do /lb savequeue often, and if they go days without, it gets so big that the command just knocks it down a few numbers and we get to like 3000 or more.

  24. Offline

    DiddiZ

Idk, but there weren't many changes.
Sounds like you've to increse forceToProcess (maybe to 30 or something)

  25. Offline

    Skettalee

Thanks for the reply. It was actually already set to 25 per your request previously, i upped it to 30. Think that will do it adding just 5 more?

  26. Offline

    DiddiZ

In that case better try the alternate mode:
    delay 10 and force 1000
which will process the whole queue every 10 seconds regardless of current cpu load.
