    MOVED TO DEV BUKKIT:
    News

    v2.4.2 Released - 9/24/2011
See the change log for details.
Everyone using PermissionsEx, Essentials, or anything else besides the regular permissions plugin or PermissionsBukkit should add or change this in their config under the Global section:
    LegacyPermissions: true
As of 2.4.0 the bPermissions plugin is supported directly.
As of 2.3.7 the PermissionsBukkit plugin is supported directly.
This support is not done through the new built in Permissions that bukkit provides, because there is no way to get a players group using the built in methods. However, by supporting this directly, you can now use the new permissions system while still keeping Residence, and not having to use old permissions at all anymore.

    Residence Signs (by KarnEdge)

NOTE: All Residence usage information has been moved to the wiki!

    About:
Residence is different from most protection plugins in that it aims for the users to be able to protect their own homes without having to bother the admin to do it. Residence has support for a variety of different protection types including preventing movement through areas, all of which can be configured by the land owner, and limited by the admin.
    Features:
    Features (open)

    • Allows players to define protected areas for themselves.
    • Individual permissions for each protected area. Land owner can give / deny permissions globally or to other specific players.
    • Different permissions per land include: move, build, use, pvp, fire, teleport, monsters spawn, damage prevention
    • Support for group permissions on protections.
    • Multi-World support.
    • Teleport system to allow users to teleport to residences.
    • Collision detection system to prevent residences from overlapping.
    • Limits to protected size can be set up by the admin.
    • Limits to number of protected areas per player can be set.
    • Two ways to select land including using the select command, or using a item to select 2 points.
    • Messages when you enter / leave a residence. (customizable)
    • Land "leasing" system which requires users to renew the lease on their protection every X number of days or loose the protection. (off by default, see config file)
    • Recursive Sub-zoning. Create zones within zones, and then zones within those zones...
    • TONS of configuration for admins. Customize every single flag that players can or cannot use in the config file, based on their permissions group.
    • (Optional) IConomy support, can set up cost per X number of blocks protected.
    • (Optional) Permissions support.
    • In-game help / commands descriptions

    • Fixed global "container" flag bug.
    • Fixed some NPE's related to explosions.
    • Added /resload command to load the save file after you make changes to it (UNSAFE, as it does not save residences first, and so you may loose new residences that were just created)
    v2.2
    • Added per residence Blacklist/Ignorelists that will allow you to specify certain block types to be ignored from residence protections, or unable to be placed in residences.
    • Added Server owned land, use /resadmin server <residence> to change the owner to "Server Owned"

    v2.1
    • BOSEconomy support.
    • Essentials Economy support.
    • RealShop Economy support.

    • /res check [residence] [flag] <player> command, this command evaluates if <player> is affected by [flag] at [residence]. You can leave off <player> and it will use your name.
    • Added a LeaseAutoRenew config option, that will cause leases to automatically renew so long as the player has the money to do so. Note that, if economy is disabled this doesn't work, as there would be no point to leases. Needs Testing! :)
    • Global FlagPermission config section, that allows you to give permission to use a flag to all groups, useful for the build / move / use flag that you almost definitely want everyone to have access to. Flags under each individual group will overrule these.
    • You can now set a limits on how deep or how high protections can go into the group, using each groups MinHeight and MaxHeight settings.
    • /res select sky, and /res select bedrock commands, these auto adjust to the above mentioned MinHeight and MaxHeight settings, so it won't select into a area you can't protect.
    • Rent system implemented.
    • Many bug fixes, including proper creeper explosion prevention now. Also, fixed some bugs when renaming residences.
    • New healing flag.
    • The monsters flag has been split up into "animals" and "monsters" now.
    • New Developer API, including custom Bukkit events.

no sorry, unless worldguard does what you want (don't believe it does player owned land, haven't personally used it.)
for issue 2, as i stated a few posts above, residence has every thing in memory and then saves out periodically, i believe it's the same with the config. i'll have a look into it.
EDIT: doesn't look like it saves out the config.yml, so your editor prob isn't saving out correctly. make your changes before you start the server up and see if that makes a difference.

with issue one, does any residence stuff appear at all, like trying to enable or anything?

and issue 3, im afraid i haven't used it, but i believe you can just assign players to different groups as you would with permissions. no idea if you can do it in game though.

Hey all, I am aware that bukkit now has a built Permissions built in. Unfortunately, the built in Permissions don't support any way to get a players group right now, and so using a plugin that supports the old system is still required for the moment. I'm not sure if this will change in the future, and If it doesn't it will be a problem. I released a new version of Residence that should at least support getting residence.admin and residence.create to work through the new system, however for all group related settings, you must still use a Permissions that supports the old system. I would recommend trying SuperPermsBridge to see if that works for you. I don't have much time to work on the plugin right now, and I'm thinking about trying to get other developers to help maintain it some. Let me know if you would like to help :)

EDIT: Super perms bridge doesn't seem to work right after all when it comes to getting group names, looking for alternatives....

EDIT2: I went ahead and implemented direct support for PermissionsBukkit manually. This will work until a better solution presents itself.

@bekvon its good to hear that youre still maintaining the plugin! On a side note, ive been working on a public server and i was trying to think of an easy way to buy and sell land. I have seen sign implementations in which you make simply make a sign with some info and clicking on it would buy the property. But since youre busy or if you dont want to do the same, if i make a commandsign that simply says "/res market buy" would that buy the land you are standing in?

P.s. Sorry for the long "side note."

For me this is great news, we didnt want seperete settings per group anyway! but i have a solution for you for the group issue
in the config add 4 sections
    default
    basic
    normal
    deluxe

then have 4 nodes that give access to those settings
    res.default
    res.basic
    res.normal
    res.deluxe

make sure when looking at a players permission it takes which either is the highest (deluxe over normal etc) so if they inherit them its not an issue

this would be better then group settings as it gives the admin space to assign different settings per player if need be

hope that helps! (i have no experience in coding so if its impossible then sorry to have wasted your time, as i say we will be happy with the just one group)

This message comes up after Residence has finished loading, and this message comes up by the thousands!

EDIT: This error seems to only come up when players dystroy/place blocks anywhere. Which im assuming is the reason i get so many errors.

EDIT 2: Im using PermissionsEx, Anyone getting the same error using yeti's permissions?

    e_zach

Residence is designed for Permissions and Bukkit permissions, not permissionsEx, so in the permissionsEx api (im guessing it uses a similar api that attempts to replace permissions 3.x) it's missing a function call that is used in residence. (specifically getPrimaryGroup(world, player)) so the way permissions are handled currently is incompatible with permissionsEx (it states in the features it supports bukkit permissions and permissions only.)

I'm having a strange/stupid error here. I'm OP on my server, have the permission nodes set, files configured, but I always get errors in-game like: I already own to many residences, but in the config file it's set to 100. I have 3 residences. Or I don't have the permission to use the select command.

    Here is the config file:

Both of these crashes are because your not using regular permissions, add/change this in your configs and see if it fixes it:
    Code:
    Global:
         LegacyPermissions: true

Its because Permissions requires a different function then PermissionEx and older Permissions.

You have to use /resadmin to ignore all limits :)

is there any possibility that you could integrate PermissionsEx as is has proven to be MUCH more powerful than Permissions 3.0

I've searched the thread and the net and I can't solve this issue... I, as an admin can do everything with Residence. But my players can't buy or rent. They seem to be able to see the list of market properties, and they seem to be able to create, but they cannot rent/buy. They see permissions errors.
    Here is my config: http://pastebin.com/mcxnx5A1
    I'm using Permissions (latest vers).

Also, can we set specific permissions flags for subzones?

    Hello bekvon,
is it correctly that the lines 167 and 190 are the same in the English.yml languagefile?
    Code:
        Selection: Selection

Nevermind - the issue isn't permissions with renting, they must have been doing it wrong. The real is issue with renting subzones... the player rents a subzone successfully but then doesn't have permission to enter because they don't have rights to the parent zone. What the solution? Will simply making sure that the parent zone allows move/use enough?

If you want unlimited residences, use /resadmin instead of /res

Hi. I've been using this plugin for quite some time and have learned to love it. It's flexibility makes way for a cleaner and more efficient conquest system. However, I find one crucial error in this plugin. In my server, I want the wilderness to feel dangerous. I only want the "safe havens" of sort to be towns. However, if I give my players the create ability, they can make small areas that cost very little. So why don't I just disable the ability to create residencies? Well, my players want to create subzones. Admins need to be able to define the superclass region (excluding the GlobalWorld) and give it to a player, who would then make subclass regions. Unfortunately, the only way to allow players to create subzones is to allow them to create anything. Could you perhaps make an individual node for subclasses? Thank you for your time.

    PLEASE HELP ME!

I have had this plugin for months, really good at it but lost every single plugin due to a harddrive failure. Got new harddrive, but whenever I do a command it says "Only admins have..." - I am an op, and in permissions I have - '*' so I do not know what is wrong. OpsAdmins is true, but the thing where it says something about legacypermissions is true because whenever I do false permissions interfears with it and residence will not load - I have the early x2 permissions but IDK what is wrong someone please help me!

Issue 1: Still none of the Residence info seems to come up in the Console. Doesn't show that it's enabled, doesn't show that it's linked to BOSEconomy either.

Issue 2: I tried it with the server stopped, went in and adjusted the settings and saved. Prior to restarting the server I went back in and double checked to make sure stuff saved, and it surely did. However as soon as I started my server back up, I went back into the same exact config file to triple check it, it all reverted back to the default config.... What gives????

Issue 3: I'm not super worried about this one just yet anyways... I need to get the top 2 issues working before this makes a bit of difference. This will be just messing with the Residence Internal config and manually adding each of my Groups to it.

Hey, I downloaded your plugin and started my server, first time started with your plugin, and it gives me an error message.
    craftbukkit version 914.

I don't think any other plugins should be causing the error because of the code, but I'll list the ones i'm running anyway:
    BOSEconomy
    ChopTree
    Citizens
    CustomCrafting
    DefaultCommands
    dynmap
    IConomy Chest Shop
    LWC
    Permissions
Also, when I go in game, I can create Residences, but they don't save. If I restart the server, they disappear.
