    New Towny Website!

Taking Shades' Towny a step farther.

A versatile, player-controlled land management plugin for use with Bukkit/Tekkit/Spigot/Libigot, offering solutions for pvp, griefing, chat, inflated economies and monsters.

    Features (open)

Towny includes a wide variety of features to offer instant enhancements to your traditional Minecraft server.
    • Allows players to own and manage land based on a pre-set grid layout.
      • Players join towns and purchase plots of land.
      • Players decide who can build, destroy, use "switchs" and use items on every plot they control.
      • Towns can join together into nations, further structuring a server into teams.
      • Towns grant protection from monsters, pvp, fire, explosions and greifing.
    • Wilderness Rules (Optional)
      • Area between towns is wilderness, with its own build permissions.
      • Limit players' interaction with the wild to just harvest-able blocks, keeping the wild pristine.
      • Roll-back tnt, creeper, wither explosions, dragon damage and endermen block-moving.
      • Block explosions and fire.
    • PVP Enhancements
      • Server with a strong PVP aspect will find Towny's grouping of players to be invaluable.
      • Prevent friendly-fire. (Optional)
      • Nations split players into larger teams.
      • Nations can declare other nations to be allies or enemies, further splitting players into even larger teams.
      • PVP can be turned on/off in wilderness, towns and worlds. (Optional)
    • Teleporting/Warping and Spawning (Optional)
      • Players can spawn to their town upon death.
      • Players can spawn to their town or a town that is within their nation/allied with their nation.

      • Channels for general, local, town, nation, moderator, admin and custom channels.

      • Supports all economy plugins.
      • Charge money for plots, towns, nations.
      • Flexible tax system.
      • Upkeep to remove money from the economy, stopping rampant inflation.

      • Perms 2/3, GroupManager, BukkitPermissions, bPermissions, PermissionsEx, etc.
    • Multiworld Support

    • Essentials 2.5+ - (Towny /town spawn's obey Essentials teleport cooldown)
    • All permissions plugins are supported and provide greater customization (recomend GroupManager).

    • iConomy 4/5 *
    • iConomy 6 *
    • EssentialsEco *

  2. Could you explain what it is / does?

  3. mobs=true needs to be false in your world file. It's not a block flag, it's a permit flag in the world files.
    Or toggle it in game.

    AS1LV3RN1NJA likes this.
  5. "Lord" isn't a rank - it's a description/honorific, and its basic meaning is "person having authority". It includes all five ranks of the British peerage: in descending order: Duke, Marquess, Earl, Viscount, Baron.

BUT, it can also describe a variety of other kinds of people who are not nobility at all. For instance, a man who lets property to tenants, or who runs a pub, is a "land-lord", and a man who owns certain archaic property rights in a manor is called "lord of the manor".

And yes there was a missing space for hermit :)

Also, i was wondering about town chat, would it be possible to make it so that only /tc switches you to that chat and all text you send after goes to town until you do /tc again.

You could also make it so that while on main or town chat, using /tc text will send it to the chat you are not on. Like if you are always on town chat but need to reply to something on main without wanting to swap channels.

Can't seem to get Mayors to have a diff tag than "Mayor playername"-- I want to change it to "[Mayor] Playername" or the like, but all efforts have failed...

    Here's my config file: http://pastebin.com/FDG66AYj
(It's basically default, I reset it in frustration while trying to get it to work)

So, what do I need to do in order to change said tag for Mayors?

Sorry, but you appear to be wrong. I have a 1-resident town, this in my town levels: - '1,,,,,20' and it still whacks "Town" on the end of the name.

Towny doesn't seem to be reading my town level data at all, in fact. Which is worrying when you have 30+ member towns with 1300 out of 66 town blocks.

Try using /resident set mode tc
    or /resident set mode townchat

If that works I think you'll have to use /resident set mode reset to turn it off.

Can't really use /tc to toggle back to the main chat because there is also /nc

For me it seems to slap "Mayor" on every Mayor's names even though I specifically tried to change the config...

All town level data seems to be not read for me either to be honest...

Do you have a answer on why the name format for Mayors can't be changed even though that's a stated feature?

    I have an issue.
A member type /t unclaim all
This unclaimed all the land in the city. Now when we type /t set homeblock we get 'Not registered'. And if we type /t claim it says it needs to connect to claimed area

Any fix for this without making a new town?

  16. Thank you, fixed for next release.

and set the plot price to a negative number, say -100000
    then plot forsale
    then plot claim
    the town bank becomes -1000000
and the player gets 100000 for claiming the plot

    Have fun fixing. :|

It would be awesome if it would give you a tag once you join a town. It would be awesome to be able to tell who's in who's town

  24. I've no idea how minequest operates, but it's passing an invalid block type to Towny.
I'm working on a different section at the monent, but give me a while and I'll code a fix to trap the error.

EDIT: Ok, try the dev version to see if it fixes your error. You will need to delete your config.yml before starting the server.

PLEASE report back if it works. or jump in IRC and let us know

  25. Can has /towny top money all fix please? Crashes the server everytime ;(

  26. Request:
/Town claim <name> - claim and pass plot immediately to resident if member of town (follow prices still)
/Plot give <name> - pass a already claimed plot to a resident without having to sell/claim (again, follow prices)

.. or if you think Mayors will abuse it to rob residents, force price to be 0 when doing it.

    Help us help you,
    Bukkit Build:
    Towny Build:
    Pastebin.com'd Towny config.yml:
    Type of iConomy Database:

This is basic level stuff, if you're going to bother to report it, give us helpful info.
Isn't it easy enough as a mayor to just go to the plot when you're ready to put it up for sale and type /plot forsale, followed by /plot claim.
And for a resident who wants to give it to someone else it's just /plot unclaim, then the new owner /plot claim's.

  28. Heh, well it's been an issue since Towny was released, so I figured you'd already know of the issue and not need me to report in such detail.

Anyway, I'm running build 977 of Bukkit and 0.72.1 of Towny.

Using a MySQL iConomy database and here's my Towny config:

It's been an issue since Fuzze's Towny and I believe it only occurred for people who use MySQL and had a bad conversion from sqlite or w/e was used before. I use h2 iConomy and have never had a problem.

Fuzze disabled the commands because of this issue. You might want to see if there are ways to check/fix a mysql iconomy database.

Just wondering, but how do you setup the size of the town?
