Should be noted even if you get the 1.7.3 bukkit version there is still the bug jeb is aware of, about chunks losing data, you will randomly lose things like items in chests and sign data, I found this out the hard way.
The fact bukkit has the source now is great as long as stuff like this gets fixed by someone, could care less who. :)
Patience is a virtue I guess.

fair point, what build number is this? were using 974 at mo (ended up with a load of segercation faults on the rb earlier, i figured as many players adopted 1.7.3 and build 974 seemed the only 1.7.3 bukkit available (hate using non RBs)

I must reiterate, if you choose to use the 1.7.3 bukkit. Players items in chests and signs in unloaded chunks can and will get deleted.... Trust me, I used it for a few hours and had to go to a backup of my map and back to #958 bukkit
    This is an actual bug.

Yes! Happened on our server too a LOT of signs missing texts and many chests empty.

It's a minecraft issue, and they are working on it.

PS: Not using redstone chips helped for me, others had problems with an adventure plugin.

That doesn't sound better than blocking pistons (at all), but maybe I'm misunderstanding.

It is not better in anyway shape or form. My users losing items and sign data is far, far worse then blocking pistons.

not had any of my users complain of lost signs or chests (were on cb974)

It was posted by him on the forum. -_-

Where do you think we got the twitter link in the first place?

the weird signs and the missing items, would that be a broken plugin maybe? BTW was this the dinnerbone build or a ci.bukkit.org build causing this? I haven't bothered to switch from RB953 and i want my piston transistors to work properly.

I would say ignorance is bliss, but not in this case.
This is an actual bug. Stated so by Jeb@mojang. Just because it didn't happen to you, doesn't mean it's fixed nor it won't happen to you....

    Ratchet

that bug started when 1.7 came out, not just 1.7.3
