    MOVED TO DEV BUKKIT:
    News

    v2.4.2 Released - 9/24/2011
See the change log for details.
Everyone using PermissionsEx, Essentials, or anything else besides the regular permissions plugin or PermissionsBukkit should add or change this in their config under the Global section:
    LegacyPermissions: true
As of 2.4.0 the bPermissions plugin is supported directly.
As of 2.3.7 the PermissionsBukkit plugin is supported directly.
This support is not done through the new built in Permissions that bukkit provides, because there is no way to get a players group using the built in methods. However, by supporting this directly, you can now use the new permissions system while still keeping Residence, and not having to use old permissions at all anymore.

    Addons:
    Residence Signs (by KarnEdge)

NOTE: All Residence usage information has been moved to the wiki!

    About:
Residence is different from most protection plugins in that it aims for the users to be able to protect their own homes without having to bother the admin to do it. Residence has support for a variety of different protection types including preventing movement through areas, all of which can be configured by the land owner, and limited by the admin.
    Features:
    Features (open)

    • Allows players to define protected areas for themselves.
    • Individual permissions for each protected area. Land owner can give / deny permissions globally or to other specific players.
    • Different permissions per land include: move, build, use, pvp, fire, teleport, monsters spawn, damage prevention
    • Support for group permissions on protections.
    • Multi-World support.
    • Teleport system to allow users to teleport to residences.
    • Collision detection system to prevent residences from overlapping.
    • Limits to protected size can be set up by the admin.
    • Limits to number of protected areas per player can be set.
    • Two ways to select land including using the select command, or using a item to select 2 points.
    • Messages when you enter / leave a residence. (customizable)
    • Land "leasing" system which requires users to renew the lease on their protection every X number of days or loose the protection. (off by default, see config file)
    • Recursive Sub-zoning. Create zones within zones, and then zones within those zones...
    • TONS of configuration for admins. Customize every single flag that players can or cannot use in the config file, based on their permissions group.
    • (Optional) IConomy support, can set up cost per X number of blocks protected.
    • (Optional) Permissions support.
    • In-game help / commands descriptions

    • Added "piston" flag.
    v2.3.4

    • Fixed bug related to default group option in the config.
    • Fixed global "container" flag bug.
    • Fixed some NPE's related to explosions.
    • Added /resload command to load the save file after you make changes to it (UNSAFE, as it does not save residences first, and so you may loose new residences that were just created)
    v2.2
    • Added per residence Blacklist/Ignorelists that will allow you to specify certain block types to be ignored from residence protections, or unable to be placed in residences.
    • Added Server owned land, use /resadmin server <residence> to change the owner to "Server Owned"

    • Added 'waterflow' and 'lavaflow' flags which override the flow flag if set.
    • Fixed a bug causing money to still be charged when failing to add a area to a residence.
    v2.1.1
    • Fix case sensitivity bug in rent system.
    v2.1
    • BOSEconomy support.
    • Essentials Economy support.
    • RealShop Economy support.

    • /res check [residence] [flag] <player> command, this command evaluates if <player> is affected by [flag] at [residence]. You can leave off <player> and it will use your name.
    • Added a LeaseAutoRenew config option, that will cause leases to automatically renew so long as the player has the money to do so. Note that, if economy is disabled this doesn't work, as there would be no point to leases. Needs Testing! :)
    • Global FlagPermission config section, that allows you to give permission to use a flag to all groups, useful for the build / move / use flag that you almost definitely want everyone to have access to. Flags under each individual group will overrule these.
    • You can now set a limits on how deep or how high protections can go into the group, using each groups MinHeight and MaxHeight settings.
    • /res select sky, and /res select bedrock commands, these auto adjust to the above mentioned MinHeight and MaxHeight settings, so it won't select into a area you can't protect.
    • Rent system implemented.
    • Many bug fixes, including proper creeper explosion prevention now. Also, fixed some bugs when renaming residences.

Well, the /resadmin command is to completely circumvent any limits on how large an area can be as well any restrictions you may have on a particular group. Only groups/users with the residence.admin permission will be able to use this command. This allows you to give your admins the ability to play normally and have their own restrictions along with other groups.

When people warp to their base, it unloads the chunk for everyone on the server.
There is no error message, and you have to restart the server to fix it.

    Any idea what's causing this?

Edit - when a user warps to their residence and it takes the server a second to load, it won't load the chunk they're on and becomes inaccessible for everyone until a restart.

It usually loads instantly, so there's problem, but on the occasion it happens.

We're having to restart hourly to prevent this.

When players rent one of the "Servers" residences they get a

    "cannot modify rented residence"

Error when placing blocks, although they can access doors and chests and have their build tag set to true along with the residence build tag set to true.

How can i enable players to modify rented residences?

I tested it myself now and i get the same error message :(
It only works with the Group "default" but any other group defined by Permissions Plugin doesn't work.

A little help from the developer would be great here :D

Use /resload to load a res.yml live. Its different from /resreload in that it doesn't save first, and therefore does not overwrite the changes.
Yea, I'll try to get that added when I can. I really need to clean up the command handling section of the code, as its a mess, so it may take a while though. Also, I'll get the message bug fixed :)

Its possible for somone to make a Residence addon that does exactly this (as a seperate plugin). Residence has its own bukkit events. They are documented on the wiki :)

Good idea :) I'll add some admin commands to do per user stuff like that.
Its somthing that I forgot to document.... its basically just another place to store economy money, doesn't serve too much purpose right now. I think that if leases are set to autorenew, they will try to draw from the residence bank automatically, but thats about the only use for it right now. Commands should be /res bank [withdraw/deposit] [amount] while your standing in the residence, to deposit or withdraw from the bank. You must have the +bank flag to do it.

Use /resload instead of /resreload, the difference is that /resload doesn't save first (and therefore doesn't overwrite your changes). I should probably rename these functions to be more descriptive in the future.

Theres a new config option in v2.3 that will allow rented residences to be modified, its the PreventRentModify: true/false setting in the Global section of the config file, set it to false to allow rented residences to be modified.

Just use /resadmin create instead of /res create, whenever you use /resadmin for any command, no money is charged and all limits are ignored. :)
If I understand what your asking, try the new "physics" flag.

Hmm, I don't remember if I tested group flags after I did updates to improve compatibility with Permissions 3.X. It may be a issue with Permissions 3.X that I need to fix. Il play around with it and see if I can find out whats wrong :)

    i have a few question:

    1. how do i make a group ? (so i can put 5 players in it and just give that group permissions to build, instead of having to give each of the 5 players permissions)

    2. its to often it rains :) (and i lags when it rains) So can i change the weather ?

    3. When i try to use lava and water, it says "you are blacklistet from using this item here" (i am owner ?)

This server is running Craftbukkit version git-Bukkit-0.0.0-904-g9277096-b953jnks (MC: 1.7.2)

Ist it a problem with Residence, because we don't use other plugins affecting Movement.

I updated to the newest development version and gave it a try to no avail.

I am trying to protect a large natural outcropping of sand that overhangs my city from being knocked down, but I'm afraid to test on that. I added "physics: true" under the permission to change section, then made the change for physics in game.

    If I do this:

    /res set RaskullCity physics true
    or..
    /res set RaskullCity physics false

    it says "Flag Set.."

Then I place a block of sand on top of another block, knock out the lower block, the sand falls, on both settings. What am I doing wrong? Does it only work on natural sand overhangs? Here are my configs.

    Code:
    raskull@slimy:~/mcserver/plugins/Residence$ cat res.yml

I'm curious. Do you think a large residence (150x150x128) would use up a lot of cpu/memory resources? Or does the size make no difference?

I set a person to a VIP group, and it allows the permissions below. They are getting all the other benefits from VIP (ie; Trade signs, etc from other mods) and even chat is changed so it shows they are VIP for their prefix but it seems that residence is still only recognizing them as the default group if i do "/res limits".

I tried putting in the 'residence.create' permission for the VIP group but to no avail, but when I put 'residence.admin' it allows him to use the SelectionTool but not use /res select still.

As far as I can tell its all set up properly, even Admins are getting their correct grouping from residence but not any other group. Thanks.

i have a residence of 2000x2000x128 it doesn't make any difference.
it doesn't even explore the map for that area which is great :)
you could create one big residence of 1Mx1Mx128, wouldn't make any difference i think

Hello bekvon, I just wanted to tell you, I love your plugin,
But it has been causing a little problem and I was wondering if you could help me :D
Ok so I have the latest recommended build, or at least the one you download from the home page, from the announcement for MC 1.7.2, if you need to know which one Im using then please tell me how to see it.
And I downloaded your plugin yesterday along some pretty nice Plugins, But today that I put my server up, whenever my users tried to build or destroy a block it said: you have no permission to do this, I went to one of my friends house, he is a mod in my server, and I Tried to fix the problem, but still nothing, as soon as we removed the plugin, we could build again, I was the only one in the whole server who could destroy and build until I removed it, but your plug in is so neat I decided to report this to you, so then we tried making a new user and making him a mod, still they couldnt. So do you know why is this happening?
So what I mean with this, noone but me can destroy blocks nor place blocks.
It would be nice if you helped me, please.
And in case you need it, my Plug-ins are:
    Chaircraft
    EssentialsProtect
    EssentialsGeoIP
    Essentials
    EssentialsSpawn
    iChat
    iConomy
    iConomyChestshop
    LWC
    MobArena
    Permissions 3.x
    Simpletips
    WorldEdit
    WorldGuard
    Tables
All of them to the latest version.
    PLEASE HELP!

I know you can /pset to give people certain flags inside the region, but I think it would be a lot easier to just add a person to the residence and they would get automatic set flags for members of the region, some people on my server don't like investing time into setting flags for everyone they want in their residence.

Also being able to add multiple owners of a region so they can get recognition, not really something I care much for but a couple members of my server said they would like more Owners so people that look at information on a residence don't think it was all just one person doing everything.

It sounds like you may have somehow created a large area or server wide residency. Open up your res..yml and look to see if there are any active residencies. If there is only one, and the coordinates indicate it's a large one, just blank out the file and save it to erase that residency.

Yeah, I had thought of that, but when I look into the file, it says Residences: { }, and all the other stuff there also have { } except for SaveVersion which says 1 :p Thanks for trying to help though.
    Yes it is :D

Is there a way for Residency to protect paintings, and prevent the placement of paintings? At the moment it doesn't do that if I am not mistaken.

Yeah, or insted af having to give each flag to the person, why not just hava a /res pset cave raskull all true - so the person gets ALL flags in one command ?

    Or a :

/res pset cave raskull coowner true (sets him as a co owner and gives all rights of that area)

but im still trying to figure out how to make a group ?

so i can put 5 trustet players in it, and just give the /res gset cave admingroup build true

i have NO idea on how to make a group, or how to add people to it... anyone ? please ?

Updated the wiki to reflect this, hopefully it will help people in the future who run into this exact issue.

    http://residencebukkitmod.wikispaces.com/Command+List

    Look under "Admin Commands"

From the sounds of it, your permissions plugin isn't setup properly. Make sure the groups file (under "Default") does NOT have inheritance listed. Remove that line. Also, if you want anyone to build, make sure Default also has build: true.

And if I am not mistaken, doesn't Essentials and Permissions conflict with each other? I can't remember offhand.

I think this is what you need to read up on a bit first. Maybe it'll help:

Nope, they dont conflict, cuz I removed the EssentialsGroupManager and another Essential thingy, but they worked just fine until now :). Oh and, Im not quite sure about that but all of my members[they are only 4 friends of mine] are Mods, and they inherit everything from the Member group which is below them, and below the Member group is the Default group, which has build set to false, while members have it true. Ill just post my config files for Permissions and Residence.
