    MOVED TO DEV BUKKIT:
    News

    v2.4.2 Released - 9/24/2011
See the change log for details.
Everyone using PermissionsEx, Essentials, or anything else besides the regular permissions plugin or PermissionsBukkit should add or change this in their config under the Global section:
    LegacyPermissions: true
As of 2.4.0 the bPermissions plugin is supported directly.
As of 2.3.7 the PermissionsBukkit plugin is supported directly.
This support is not done through the new built in Permissions that bukkit provides, because there is no way to get a players group using the built in methods. However, by supporting this directly, you can now use the new permissions system while still keeping Residence, and not having to use old permissions at all anymore.

    Residence Signs (by KarnEdge)

NOTE: All Residence usage information has been moved to the wiki!

    About:
Residence is different from most protection plugins in that it aims for the users to be able to protect their own homes without having to bother the admin to do it. Residence has support for a variety of different protection types including preventing movement through areas, all of which can be configured by the land owner, and limited by the admin.
    Features:
    Features (open)

    • Allows players to define protected areas for themselves.
    • Individual permissions for each protected area. Land owner can give / deny permissions globally or to other specific players.
    • Different permissions per land include: move, build, use, pvp, fire, teleport, monsters spawn, damage prevention
    • Support for group permissions on protections.
    • Multi-World support.
    • Teleport system to allow users to teleport to residences.
    • Collision detection system to prevent residences from overlapping.
    • Limits to protected size can be set up by the admin.
    • Limits to number of protected areas per player can be set.
    • Two ways to select land including using the select command, or using a item to select 2 points.
    • Messages when you enter / leave a residence. (customizable)
    • Land "leasing" system which requires users to renew the lease on their protection every X number of days or loose the protection. (off by default, see config file)
    • Recursive Sub-zoning. Create zones within zones, and then zones within those zones...
    • TONS of configuration for admins. Customize every single flag that players can or cannot use in the config file, based on their permissions group.
    • (Optional) IConomy support, can set up cost per X number of blocks protected.
    • (Optional) Permissions support.
    • In-game help / commands descriptions

    • Added "piston" flag.
    v2.3.4
    • Fixes for CB1000

    • Fixed bug related to default group option in the config.
    • Fixed global "container" flag bug.
    • Fixed some NPE's related to explosions.
    • Added /resload command to load the save file after you make changes to it (UNSAFE, as it does not save residences first, and so you may loose new residences that were just created)
    v2.2
    • Added per residence Blacklist/Ignorelists that will allow you to specify certain block types to be ignored from residence protections, or unable to be placed in residences.
    • Added Server owned land, use /resadmin server <residence> to change the owner to "Server Owned"

    • Fixed a bug causing money to still be charged when failing to add a area to a residence.
    v2.1.1

    v2.1
    • BOSEconomy support.
    • Essentials Economy support.
    • RealShop Economy support.
    • Added the 'place' and 'destroy' flags, which if used overrule the 'build' flag. These allow you to give only block placement permissions in a certain area, or only block destroy permissions.
    • /res check [residence] [flag] <player> command, this command evaluates if <player> is affected by [flag] at [residence]. You can leave off <player> and it will use your name.
    • Added a LeaseAutoRenew config option, that will cause leases to automatically renew so long as the player has the money to do so. Note that, if economy is disabled this doesn't work, as there would be no point to leases. Needs Testing! :)
    • Global FlagPermission config section, that allows you to give permission to use a flag to all groups, useful for the build / move / use flag that you almost definitely want everyone to have access to. Flags under each individual group will overrule these.
    • You can now set a limits on how deep or how high protections can go into the group, using each groups MinHeight and MaxHeight settings.
    • /res select sky, and /res select bedrock commands, these auto adjust to the above mentioned MinHeight and MaxHeight settings, so it won't select into a area you can't protect.
    • Rent system implemented.
    • Many bug fixes, including proper creeper explosion prevention now. Also, fixed some bugs when renaming residences.
    • New healing flag.
    • The monsters flag has been split up into "animals" and "monsters" now.
    • New Developer API, including custom Bukkit events.
    • New Global CreatorDefault / GroupDefault / ResidenceDefault flag sections to help clean up the Groups section, and remove redundant flags.

i have a problem, all the admins on my server can buy, sell and create residences, but no other groups can buy them, it stands "This residence contains areas bigger then your allowed max." how do i configure this? ive set the residence max area higher than 16. (the south west, north east, x, y, z thingy) as i said, how do i configure this?

People can still use bonemeal to make long grass inside residences, how can I prevent that?

One thing I noticed with this plugin is if a residence has -move set and a player goes into the area at a fast rate, the server will quickly move them outside the area which will cause the server to boot the player saying the player moved too quickly and that perhaps they were hacking.

#928 is now declared a broken build. update to #935 and see if that fixes issues.
that's cool, im actually using the same setup myself with no issues. it looks like permissions might not be loaded correctly by residence. have you tried the load order renaming (aPermissions.jar) or sticking a 'depend [Permissions]' line into the Plugin.yml (within the residence.jar)?

yeah, that bug has been around for a while, thank notch for that one, i believe there are fix plugins to stop that though.
the bonemeal stuff is rather new (long grass that is) im guessing atm you can't

I think it's classing with the War plugin, all the errors I get now say [SEVERE] Could not pass event PLAYER_MOVE to War, but when i do a /res list. They shouldn't be conflicting as it was working before and then I added essentials permissions and they stopped after that, i add this:

    groups:
    Default:
    default: true
    info:
    prefix: ''
    suffix: ''
    build: true
    inheritance:
    permissions:
    - 'foo.bar'
    - 'war.*'
    - 'residence.create'
    - 'essentials.help'
    - 'essentials.helpop'
    - 'essentials.list'
    - 'essentials.motd'
    - 'essentials.rules'
    - 'essentials.spawn'
    - 'essentials.clearinventory'
    - 'essentials.home'
    - 'essentials.sethome'
    - 'essentials.balance'
    - 'essentials.signs.disposal.use'
    - 'essentials.signs.free.use'
    - 'essentials.signs.heal.use'
    - 'essentials.signs.buy.use'
    - 'essentials.signs.sell.use
    - 'essentials.signs.mail.use
    - 'essentials.tpa
    - 'essentials.tpaccept
    - 'essentials.tpdeny

Is there anything wrong? (obliviously it has re-formatted them)

looks fine to me, i can't see any issues with it. (next time stick it in a code block so it keeps the formatting.)
did you rename/add stuff to fix residence? if so, try doing the same thing with the war plugin and see if it fixes it.
on a side note, essentials breaks everything. if you can't get it going remove essentials as a test to see if it fixes things. it'd make me smile if it did :D

    @bekvon

I am still confused at the rent system :D What is the worth of renting something out if the person cannot modify a rented area, even if they have the +admin and +build flags?

Also, if you missed my bug remark:

"One quick thing: On the lastest dev build, setting a lease as infinite with the /resadmin lease set command doesnt seem to work at all (always gives back 'Type /res ? or /resadmin? for help'). I need to either edit the res.yml and remove leases or buy them myself."

I want to use the Lease system for my players to buy areas and lease them, but it seems that I can't disable the lease system for admins to create areas/residence without a lease being set to them as well. Is there a way to only have the lease system for certain groups?

First, remove foo.bar. Second, If you are using Essentials, they were a bit different that Permissions. you don't use the single quotes.
From the wiki, example groups file:
    Show Spoiler

    Code:
    groups:
      Default:
        default: true
        permissions:
        - essentials.help
        - essentials.helpop
        - essentials.list
        - essentials.motd
        - essentials.rules
        - essentials.spawn
        inheritance: []
        info:
          prefix: '&e'
          build: false
          suffix: ''

If you want to put code or a config file in, use the "Quote" button above, and manually edit it to say spoiler instead on both tags.

Can the developer make it so that Residence will retrive the Group info in permissions 3? (it says in res config that its looking for <worldname>.yml and not groups.yml in the world's folder.)

do you have iConomy installed? specifically 5.0.1? (newest) it's basically complaining that it can't find it.
try changing the height to 128 instead of 127 and keep min at 0 and max at 127
it's basically complaining because the max height bounds aren't covering that final block (if that makes sence)

it does support permissions 3.x properly, the documentation for residence is a tad out of date.

what version of permissions are you using, this happened with some buggy versions of permissions.

Well, I was trying to make it like a real life rent system I guess. You don't go and rent a house and then start modifying it in real life (don't think the owners would be happy lol), so its really mostly useful to RP servers I suppose. I guess I can make a config option for it.

And yea, I saw your bug report :) will be fixed in next dev build which should come in a day or two (and a new release hopefully a day or two after that)

I think permissions 3 should work ok with residence, because Residence does not pull the groups from the Permissions config file, but rather from the Permissions plugin itself. And permissions 3.X still has compatibility for older plugins that were made to use 2.X. I havn't actually tried myself though, but I will give it a go when I can.
    Post your config. :)

Are you sure your users are all in the Default group and not another group? Post your permissions and residence config if you can.

I am having a huge problem I can make a res as OP and when a member of my server trys to make a res it says size limit is too big yet I have the code at this
    Code:
               MaxAreasPerResidence: 2
               # The maximum number of blocks a Residence can be, East to West (X).
               MaxEastWest: 20
               # The maximum number of blocks a Residence can be, North to South (Z).
               MaxNorthSouth: 20
               # The maximum number of blocks a Residence can be, High to Low (Y).
and I have the permission nodes like this
    - 'residence.admin'
    - 'residence.create'
    for admin and
    - 'residence.create'
    for members

    my config file

I'm a little confused about res.yml... Am I not allowed to edit this file? I want to manually update all the flags, coords and messages but when I upload and /resreload, it reverts it back to the old one?

EDIT: I even tried deleting the .bak file for it and it still gets reverted... am I missing something here?

EDIT: I tried to also over the .bak file and both got redone with the original after a full restart of the server.

I wouldn't mind having to do all the selection stuff in game but your command line (/res select) won't let me set X1,Y1,Z1 and then X2,Y2,Z2 as it only allows you to type in one(?) coord and it creates a radius from that(?).

Did you try to edit the .yml with the server stopped... This file may not be intended to be "hotswappable" and may be written when you do a reload. You may have to stop server upload file and then start server.

Found an oddity with creepers... it seems you only have the option to either disable creepers altogether (player damage AND block damage) or have both on. Strangely enough, I have essentials protect and this mod seems to override my options for creeper "player dmg on/block dmg off"

    EDIT:
It seems TNT does the same thing...

Would it possible to add another variable to turn off block damage from creepers and TNT, but also have a variable that would allow player/mob damage from creepers and TNT?

I haven't tried that, but every other mod configs I am able to upload/overwrite and /reload to get the new edits just fine without having to stop the server. If I have to stop the server, then its something with the mod not allowing me me to "hotswap".

It depends on how the saving system works. I believe the res.yml is saved at intervals and on a server stop or reload so when you do a reload it saves the current residences as they are in memory then reloads. So if you change the res.yml then reload your changes are overwritten. However if you stop the server it will do the save then you can upload your changes and when you start it will load the file you uploaded.

Yes, residences are saved in memory, you can only edit the file on a stopped server. It's a safety feature actually, as you can accidently delete files while the server runs and won't lose them ;)

But - @bekvon might be able to include a kind of /res reload command in the next version - so you can edit the files on a running server.

    //Edit//

On the wiki it mentions a /resreload command - maybe that works?

thats correct, whenever the plugin is disables (including during the /resreload command) the current residences in memory is saved out, wiping any changes to the file. or in the case of a parser error, wipes the file completely.

don't know who else had the error, was pages back, but if you find a line of error for the parser where it says mapping not allowed:
    Code:
    default: blah

           ^
where the accent points to the : it was the line above it for me. I had xordaii:Admin with no space...silly mistake.

Then I started getting the error we had before, where /res limits showed default group?
Another easy mistake, I had an extra "s" on the end of Admin in my users.yml file for Permissions. If you also got those problems, may want to double check your users files.

These errors were not on my original setup, as I started over from scratch again to try to figure out what happened. Still no idea what was up with the first setup, but updating to 935 seems to have fixed what issues we had. Thanks for the love (plugin-goodness)!
