    Multiverse 2 - World Creation/Management/Teleportation & More
    Current Version: 2.2-AB

    Description
Multiverse 2 is a ground up rewrite of the popular Multiverse plugin for CraftBukkit. There are many new features, the biggest one being the much better usability and cleaner code! MV2 has been in the works for over 2 months and given the size of it, the developers are confident that you'll find a small bug or two. Please come into our IRC channel and discuss politely with us and we'll get it resolved quick-fastly!

Looking for the old version that runs on CraftBukkit 1000? We don't have it anymore :( Here's an archive of the old help post. If you're a new user, we REALLY recommend using Multiverse 2..

    Version 1.6.4

    • Fixed 0 Price Portals
    • Fixed a bug with new Portals
    • Updated for iConomy 5 (You will need to update to iCo 5)
    • Improved the PVP Setup
      • Now you no longer have to set the server.properties PVP variable to true... this is now completely done via the worlds config and properly stops PVP rather than preventing the damage from being applied.
    Version 1.6.3

    • Update for Minecraft 1.5 and CraftBukkit build 733
    Version 1.6.2

    • Contains updates/features which were introduced in 1.5
Version 1.6 - Thanks to 'fernferret'

    • Updated for CB Builds 600+
    Version 1.5 - Permissions 2.1+ - (V1.5 - 02/03/2011)[/U]

    • Fixed whitelist/blacklisting once and for all :), thanks to @ledhead900
    • Add permission node 'multiverse.portal.exempt' -- Basically means they don't have to pay the cost of the portal... this is useful for Donors and such.
    • Updated to use iConomy 4.1 -- Would be great if I can get feedback on this... as usual I can only test solo.
    Version 1.4 - Permissions 2.0 & 2.1 - (V1.4 - 26/02/2011 - 01:11 AM GMT)

    • Should be easier on high pop servers now
      • Only checks if a player is within a Portal everytime he changes BLOCK Coordinate instead of every single pixel footstep he/she takes.
    • Now Supports Permissions 2.1 -- Both 2.1 and 2.0 support have seperate JARs, so get the right one.
      • Also commands are properly disabled when a Permissions plugin is not found and it will alert the player trying to use the Command.
    Version 1.3 - Permissions 2.0 - (V1.3 - 24/02/2011 - 02:31 AM GMT)

    • Removed the 'Stupidly Long Constructor'
    • Fixed an error which was loading portals that were on a non existent world which caused errors later on.
    Version 1.2.2 - (V1.2.2 - 23/02/2011 - 03:05 AM GMT)

    • Nothing much just updated so it works with Minecraft Beta 1.3, I suggest you don't use a lower Multiverse build than v1.2.2 otherwise it won't work and errors will occur.
    Version 1.2.1 - (V1.2.1 - 20/02/2011 - 23:35 PM GMT)

    • Changed over to the new Entity Damage...

And there I was about to edit the MultiVerse 1.x code myself (that I found on Github) to add some of the features I wanted. Said features I'd like to see are described in full at: http://redmine.onarandombox.com/redmine/issues/180

Summary of the features described at the above link:
    • A per-world respawn destination option - when a player dies in world X, you can have them respawn at any world's spawn (required to get players respawning in the right Overworld after dying in a Nether.)
    • A per-world default portal destination - Portals (of the vanilla, non-MV kind) created in that world will link to the given world as though it were the Vanilla Nether* (required for multiple Overworld-Nether pairs to work correctly). Perhaps naming the world as its own destination could disable portals in that world completely.
    • Configurable portal delay - players have to stand in a MultiVerse portal for X seconds before teleporting. Could be used to emulate the delay enforced by Vanilla portals.
P.S. I wonder if Multiverse 2 will take beds into account?

    * I'd imagine that naming a NETHER-environment world as the destination for a NORMAL-type world would divide destination coordinates by 8, and the reverse would do the opposite. Naming a destination world of the same type would generate a destination portal at 1:1 coordinates. Not sure if Bukkit can hook into Minecraft's existing Nether portal generation/placement code; would be nice if it can or could. The user-implemented solutions I've seen are usually sub-optimal.

This plugin looks like it's just what I need. However, (may have been asked before) I have yet felt the need to install a permissions plugin, as my server is really only for 2! people, occasionally 4. All of which are on the OP.txt file. Is there no way to simply default to this same basic op configuration, rather than have multiverse disabled completely when there is no permissions plugin present?

  4. Offline

    Maxis010

Op is coming in MV 2, for now you can edit the config files to do everything commands do

I can relate to your grievance. Fortunately, Permissions is pretty easy to set up for this use case. Just create a globalGroups.yml like this:
    Code:
    groups:
        Default:
            default: true
            info:
                prefix: ''
                suffix: ''
                build: true
            permissions:
                - '*'

This should automatically give all permissions to all users on the server. (Buyer beware: Untested.) A slightly more sophisticated setup would be to grant the '*' permission not to 'Default', but to a 'Trusted' group, and add all of your regular players to this group, so new players aren't automatically promoted to gods.

BUG: If a user gets automatically kicked for moving too fast, the console will get an error that it failed to pass a PLAYER_MOVE event to Multiverse. I am indeed using Multiverse 1.7.2 and CB863. Is there anyway to fix this so the console doesn't get that error?

Otherwise, very useful plugin, great work!

With multiverse can you set up one world with pvp, and a couple others without?

In the worlds.yml there is an option for pvp per world
Your server.properties must have PVP enabled

  11. Ok, so disclaimer about this post and any others today.

    My company is awesome.
    We had beer.
    I'm a little tipsy.

Ok so, please hop in #multiverse and yell at me about some of these features.

This goes for ANYONE. I don't check redmine, I'm too busy writing MV2 code.

    I can tell you this:
    - At least on the initial get-go, we will support:
    * A player dies in world X they respawn in world X
    * A player dies in ANY world, they will respawn in X
Not sure if that's what you're asking... BUT we're using a plugin architecture, so you won't have to mess with MV-Core's code to get the behavior you want, and Rigby and I WANT other people writing plugins. Seriously. We're lazy :p

    - Currently my MV2 plugin, named NetherPortals, will allow you to setup a nether for a given world. I'd thought about this, and wasn't sure that I wanted to do it. I'll see what I can do.

    - Hmm, shouldn't be too bad, but we can't reproduce the purple goo. that's a client thing.

    DISCLAIMER:
THIS post is all about Multiverse 2. It is not yet released, so please don't ask why the features discussed here are not working on Multiverse 1. This message is just so you guys don't think Rigby and I are complete slackers :) Seriously. MV2. It's coming. Be ready.

Think this will be fixed in 2. Don't quote me on this though. If it's a bukkit issue, not much we can do. I'll try.

Ah, problem. I'd really like the Op thing to happen in MV2, but untill then, can someone explain the whole permissions thing. I added my name to the globalUsers file, thinking that was where permissions go, and then instad of saying I dont have permission to do a command, it says there is an internal error of some sort. Help please?

Okay, the GlobalGroup file listed before should work for you, you need to do your global users also. that file should be like this for each user:

Unless you also do what he said and have another group as Trusted. In that case, these users would have the Trusted group instead of Default, and the Default group would still have default: true, but the Trusted group would have default: false.

Is it possible to have a 'nether:' or 'allow-nether:' for worlds in the Worlds.yml file? Some of my worlds I want teleportation to the nether enabled, but others I don't.

Also is it possible to have a 'netherWorld:' in the Worlds.yml specific to each world? When I teleport to the nether in the main world and teleport out it actually takes me to the first multiversed world.

You could always set up a custom portal going to one of the other worlds.

For the worlds that you want teleportation to the nether enabled, you could always try to find a plugin that blocks certain blocks on certain worlds. (In your case, banning portal blocks)

I like how going through a vanilla style portal takes you to the destination after the weird wiggling vision thing. It's neat.

It turns out I was getting a different error. So I'm fine :B

I'm getting this too. (Really this time! I am! STOP LOOKING AT ME LIKE THAT.)

Are you clicking in the right order? Not saying you aren't, just checking:
    1. Left-click on one block.
-says secondary then primary coord selected
    2. Right-click on block 3 blocks above and 3 to the side.
    -says secondary coord selected.
    3. /mvpc testportal w: secondworld

    Or somesuch?

Sorry to bother, but whenever I use a Multiverse command, such as /mvlist or /mvimport, it doesn't recognize it as a command. Does anyone know why this is happening?

The command doesn't exist because it's /mvcreate not /mv create

  24. This will be fixed in 2. Although I don't think it's really an issue. Don't think it causes MV to stop working, it's just annoying.

Side note about the flurry of allegations saying MV does not work with 900+

I will throw 1.7.2 on my test rig tonight. When I determine it works, I will update the post's title.

    Thank you,
    FernFizzle

PS: Thanks @blutherz and @Maxis010 for reporting in on your successes (and corrections to how to type commands :p )

although he may have typed the command incorrectly in the post, he may be on to something. I just updated to [928] and now none of the /mvxxx commands seem to work. The portals work fine, but the console commands are not recognized.

something happened between CB900 and CB928 that killed the MultiVerse console commands for me. No other plugins seem to have been affected.

Hey, the plugin works great but i got to say two things:
    - can you make it so if you change the world you spawn at the spawn and not on the current position?
    -I got a major Bug!
if i change my world to another world and go to spawn i or if i just start the server it gets this bug,

and it repeats all the time NON stop, it makes the server lag and it affected my server so if i delete the plugin it still repeats, this bug came after i installed multiverse.
Also, FreeBuild is the main world.

Hello, I noticed an issue on two different servers. When going from one normal world to another, MultiVerse for some reason fails to give the client the current world's seed, resulting in the client displaying biomes/weather/etc. according to the seed of the world I logged in at, rather than according to the seed of the world I'm currently it. Is there any way to fix it?
Edit: I'm using CraftBukkit RB 928, if that helps. :(

Did I see a rumour that 2.0 may be out soon?

Anyway, does it support custom generators yet?

It's not a rumour, more of a fact
I believe I read that seeds are supported, not sure if that is what you meant by custom generators
